I hate how everyone is whining that they didn't deserve the award. Um it's not their fault their fanbase is bigger and more committed to win. It's been years of being nominated and being the underdog . And they finally get some attention that might not last long so stfu.
people on APMAs 2015: "tøp should've win the award they need so much recognition!!!1!" people on APMAs 2016: "tøp doesn't deserve to win because they are too mainstream/big for this kind of award!!!!1!"
oh excuse, but where were you for the last two apmas? tøp barely had a chance to win or even being nominated back then because they weren't "famous" enough like those bands that you've mentioned. besides, every award shows are indeed unfair since they choose the winner based on vote, if people wanna blame on someone why their favorite person/band didn't win the awards, then they need check their own fandom to make sure they already voted them or not, not blaming on others who have strong fandom that backing them up to vote to win. ps: just because some bands are famous doesn't mean they couldn't be featured on AP Magz.
It fucking pisses me off how when an artist becomes mainstream, they're suddenly not worth liking anymore. Like stfu there's nothing wrong with mainstream. Artists like Twenty one pilots deserve to be mainstream unlike mainstream artists who put out rubbish songs that makes people horny and get high on drugs.
okay heres the thing, i honest to god love all of the artists that were nominated for this, and while Twenty One Pilots is my favorite and I may have a slightly biased opinion, they deserved this award. They slugged it out in their homestate for 4 years before getting signed to a label. They didn't get much recognition with Vessel. They got quite a bit yes but not as much as Vessel deserved, thats a great fucking album. So when Blurryface dropped and they finally got attention, it mattered. It took them 7 years to get the recognition they deserve, so yes, they deserved this award. But thats just my opinion.
I am so proud of Tyler and Josh. They have worked so freaking hard and they definitely deserve this. They have come so far. Their speech was absolutely adorable. I love them so much.
Why do people forget that this is literally a popularity contest? All of the bands listed are great, and im sure at least one person loved each album just as much, but it's still always going to be about what's popular. You can say that ______ deserved the award more as much as you like but in the end music quality is subjective to the individual consumer. TOP are easily the most *popular* artists around right now and for THAT REASON they won the award. This is coming from a HUGE TOP fan. They didn't win because they were the best, they won because they hold the most popularity.
So just because a band is mainstream, they're not good anymore? I fucking hate that logic. They had almost no chance at winning last year because they weren't as popular, but now that they hit it big, people like you have to ruin it. They won because our fanbase is bigger and more committed to a win. And no, I'm not some teen fan girl, and no I'm not a new fan, I've been a fan for five years so it's about time these guys get that recognition.
To me, |-/ means something much different than most interpretations I've seen. | represents the path everyone else is taking/the "normal" path. / is the life you have (depression/suicidal thoughts). Have you ever noticed that the / is shorter than the |? I think that symbolizes that life won't be nearly as long/joyful as it once was. Now I can't forget the -. To me, that means their music. It's a path out of suicidal thoughts/depression. The path to a longer life.
+Facing Dawn yeah I get that it wasn't because if tøp, I just though it was cool that the guy announcing tøp as the winner of the award coincidentally had the makeup usually associated with that band
ok guys how about this: every nominee wins. its annoying me a bit on how every one is arguing on whos better then who. ik its opinions and all, but nobody is respecting others opinions. So everybody wins. Ehh? ehh?
