I wonder if the winner is Cable. Apocalypse originally kidnapped Cable to be his next host body/"heir" of sorts from back in the day so curious if that plays out, just differently than previously written.

Feels like this is going to be one of those "no one wins" stories. Or one that goes for the biggest odd ball-you-didn't-see-that-coming endings in which case either Cypher or some one that wasn't even part of the competition would win. Dani is still easily my favorite of this bunch. I do want her to have more focus in the upcoming era but I'm not entirely sure winning this would accomplish that. I like Cable well enough but he has no trouble getting pout in stories.

Tbh if cable won it would actually be insane time travel, Jean Grey's powers, the apocalypse booster pack, future tech & Celestial tech + the Technorganic virus. He'd be OP asf + the potential to harness the phoenix force but honestly I'm surprised he didn't choose Synch as a candidate (or darwin, nate grey, rogue even Jubilee) with a buff would make for some crazy stories.

I'm hoping it will be Cable, it may be Cypher. Mirage would be a strange winner. Forge would also be a weird winner but would make some sense the technopath watches over the earth mutants... However he was terrible at his Krakoan security job. Honestly Apocalypse should have said he was too much of a failure to Krakoa to participate.

I kinda don’t want it to be Cable because of his history with Apocalypse. That would be a lil too ironic. Forge probably offers the coolest possibilities. What if he made a “resurrection chamber”? A powered up Forge could become as powerful as Kang! Technology could become like magic to him, making him essentially Rick from Rick and Morty. That sounds cool as shit! They should consult me on such matters. Smh

Honestly i was surprised they even mentioned Angel already being apocalypse's heir once before. It was glossed over so quickly though it really doesnt matter. And the whole Evan story just evaporated. Logan got to see a version himself as apocalypse and what that was like but none of that interesting ties to apocalypse are barely touched. Idk I'm just not feeling it. 🤷‍♂️

The writing for me kinda fell off short in this issue . Instead of taking out Sinister they spared him so he can betray them again . I kinda knew they won't stay dead ,i thought Apocalypse will bring them back somehow or they will have their own way of cheating death like the telepaths rebuilding themselves a new body in the astral plane for example , but it turns out it's some sort of simulation or controlled competition which it works out i guess . It was cool to see Apocalypse tanking the x-men . He tanked Storm's lightning and even ate one like it's lunch time in one of the pages 😂

I think it's going to be Forge, which is why he was freaking out in the preview comic. Cable would be too obvious, so I'm certain it won't be him. Dani is a possibility but she doesn't do what Forge does (he utilizes both magic and science, as well as being a mutant). Apocalypse has vast stores of celestial tech, advanced knowledge, and ancient spells. Forge could take the most advantage of this, at least that's probably how he feels at first but then becomes horrified when he learns what Apocalypse's celestial job description actually is. I could easily see it being Cypher as well, but he didn't have a panel in the preview comic of himself freaking out.

I had cable, Rictor, and gorgon making it to the end from issue #1. Cable is my last chance at being somewhat right lol. I really like this series. I don't see a way to make it longer without ruining the story, but I hope it continues some how.

Honestly, I thought that Rictor would be a good fit for the role. Idk why Apocalypse does any trial at all. Rictor studied his work and had admiration for him and now it just gets forgotten? But yeah, Cypher would be an interesting pick. But that's because i have a soft spot for him since Krakoan era
