I play the cello and I'm so happy there is finally a band utalizing it's unique sound.... and freaking rocking out on it! hell yeah!

Holy crap! That's freaking amazing! I had no Idea you could strum that fast on a cello! And the drummer is as good as Lars! This might be better than the original!

I dont think theres any problem with sounding different-which is why i love apocalyptica,because of their effort to be different,and experiment with instruments. to say that this isnt good is basically saying that they dont know what they are doing-but i can quite clearly see they are experts at what they do.even if they werent sure, 5/5 for effort:D

Cellos ..are far sexier played by Finns who can rock the fuck out of them..Eiccas accent is so awesome... :)

I wish they'd stick to their original formula, just cellos. That was the charm. Adding other instruments just ruins its purity.

gotta agree with RiverSteelBand, drums are way to heavy in the mix but that's the FOH engineers job. Would be challenge though running cellos through a pa with metal drums without taking the ambiance out of the cellos by compressing it to level the mix a bit. Hall of The Mountain King from the same show has a much better balance & absolutely rocks!!!

I always think about metal, especially progressive metal, being more classically inspired as opposed to the jazz/blues inspiration you'll find in the rock cannon. Anyways, the failure to see how metal Apocalyptica is shows just how little you understand metal.

as darkfuneral said.....exactly,..thats why I love these guys so much..and partly why I loved Metallica so much when i first heard them. I could hear classical music when I listened to Metallica,in a sense. Their layers of complex sound was really emotional.

at the beggining they sound really calm, and relaxing the BOOM into amazing work ahh awesome

@chaosdsm some songs are better with drums and some without them. like Harmageddon, though it's a heavy and melancholic song, drums are not needed but if u take seek&destroy or enter sandman, drums are needed

HELLS YEAH!! Mikko's fucking WICKED at drums!! Seriously though. Lars Ulrich is like.. my IDOL for Drums. and Lars went to a Apo concert in SF I believe. and he was BLOWN AWAY by Mikko's drumming. So now both Lars AND Mikko are my idols for the drums. =D

i heard about these guys from a friend and was lucky enough to go see them a t the house of blues. loved them ever since. i also caught them at the roxy in hollywood i think. i was amased they played at such a small venue. it was awesome.

@LockyTheRocker This is what 99% of the human population call talent (duh). Anyone can play this on a guitar if they can play, it takes a special kind of talent to play this on cello and still keep it as hard as the original.

You'd be surprised at how many metal songs translate easily when played with classical instruments. The reverse is true as well. A lot of classical music sounds awesome when played with guitars, bass, and drums.

Most people think that heavy metal has nothing to do with classical instruments. I'm glad there is a band out there that puts violins and cellos into some good heavy metal and are able to kick ass.

i had to compose nemo by nightwish and han zimmers now we are free note by note. it sucks but i would check any local music store like where you by band stuff or string stuff.

Well, your right, originaly, this was on guitar, this band converts guitar songs and what-not into cello metal, or w/e you want to call it.

nah, they wouldnt get sued... Only if they did the cover without the bands permission (not in a live scene though) would they get sued.

Sindri, search "ELO" (electric light orchestra), they had 2 cellists in the band, their kick-ass song was IMHO "Roll over Beethoven"
