"Now that I’m wise I realize that all I did was hide / Long as they starin' at that chain / They won' look inside my eyes and see the pain See the hurt, see the person I disguise / Can't write about it all if there's no words that could describe / The images in my head that visit me in my bed If I ain't talk to the Lord, man, spiritually I be dead" - Joell Ortiz
"You try to haggle for that chain or that bracelet or that watch or that ring / It's off the chain, brace yourself and watch out when it ring." Joell dropping jewels! 🙏
Wasn't untill at least the 10th time when I heard this track and actually caught that line and once I noticed he repeated all the jewerly again and in order I paused that shit and yelled out yoooooo!!!! Love bars like that
“I’m just a product of where the young'ens move product We all believe in God, but we look up to the shottas” 🔥🙏🏿 Love - All the way from South Africa 🇿🇦
This track has a nostalgia feel to it even though its not that old. It makes you think about the highs and lows in your life, close people who are no longer here, and times we took for granted. But through the grace of God we have been blessed through all these times.
What people don't get is that most of the hipsters like trap ironically so its disposable songs have a 6 week lifespan. But music like this has time to mature and grow on sincere music lovers and new heads looking for more than what's in the mainstream. True the bookings and venues might be smaller but overseas they stand on the same stages as lil whomever.
I spent years trying to get my peers and people in my life to listen and appreciate hip hop instead of what’s played on the airwaves. Through the years I found it’s better to keep gems like this and artists like Joel and producers like Apollo close to the hip. The casual fans who don’t have the appreciation can’t offer anything to this art other than negatively effecting it and watering it down.
I feel you,, Metal face😉. Apparently youre a MF DOOM fan. It takes a special 👁 and ear for this ish. Absolutely needs time to brew. This type music is leaked into cyberspace before it's tweaked 😂. I would know. Im part of the creation! ✌🏾
This takes me back to the 90s, when I would listen to dope MCs and dope producers making great music. Throw on the headphones and close your eyes and just imagine everything Ortiz is talking about. Great album they dropped!!
Apollo Brown could easily be the best in the game right now. I personally think trap beats don't have shit on his stuff in terms of both skill and overall sound quality, he's as good as Madlib.
There’s Boyz In Tha Hood that watch Menace II Society and Juice I never wanted to go that route I felt like Cuba in the car without the heart To tell Dough to let me out Hope God don't judge me when he judge me The Devil work pretty damn hard to make it ugly Know every thing that glitter ain't gold but, man
I feel like I was literally waiting for yeeeears to see Joel making this album! Of course Apollo did a great job also! The beats just fits perfect and it’s a real blessing to see both artist shine on that project! I bought it, gave it many listenings already and there’ll be more. It’s a CLASSIC. Thank you for this piece of art. Hip-hop nowadays miss a lot of lirycism and (I love the punchline side of mc’ing, which sometimes makes me laugh to death but..) it’s really valuable to listen Joel’s stories about his life, struggles etc. It feels reeeeaally REAL and touches deeply. Great job, brothers! Believe me, there’s a lot of people all around the world, who appretiate your work. Greetings from Poland. Yaowa!!
Joel Ortiz..bars💯💯💯💯💯 and Apollo Brown I been listening to his beats since 2017 he’s a hella dope producer like a young Dj Premier he’s that type of category
*Mona Lisa HIGH KEY my AOTY,* don't try and change my mind talking about such and such album...a lot of good music has come out this year but this album was the best surprise for me.

You know, the more I listen to this, this record, this project, is so amazing, its a sad state with the world today when this doesn't have 50million views.
