Forgot to mention that the Max G2 has selectable charge levels (80, 85, 90, 95,100%) and will automatically stop charging once it reaches the selected charge level. No worries about overcharging or winter storage. I like Apollo designs, but they need to update their BMS tech. This is a very significant distinguishing feature-surprised it wasn’t mentioned.
it looks like the Apollo GO also has overcharging protection features (this is right from their website): -short circuit protection -overcurrent protection -double protection from overcharging -temperature resistance -undervoltage auto-sleep protection
the sole reason why i bought the ninebot is the build in charger, I cannot say how much better it is to just have a tiny cable with you instead of carrying the charging brick around. Even if you forget the cable somebody will have a cable that fits
I got the ninebot too, and mine hasn't failed yet but I've read many people having issues with the on board charger. Shame I didn't read more, even though I'm unsure if it'd change my decision to buy
how do you compare the g2 to the apollo city pro. I have the city pro 2022, i like it but its too bulky and the battery dies quickly, thinking of trading it in for the segway
"I must commend the remarkable impartiality evident in this review. It's truly refreshing to see such 'unbiased' perspectives. However, I must express a slight reservation about the tastefulness of this comparison method.
Hey there! You are totally right, the unit featured in the video was a pre-production model. For the final production, we have made some improvements to the rear plastic part to make it less opaque. Additionally, we have increased the voltage to the rear LED lights which means that both the rear brake and turning signals will be brighter.
I've been considering both for my first scooter. The only thing that makes me think about the G2 is the suspension. I'm not interested in offroading but am concerned that some bumpy roads might be less enjoyable with the Go. I wish there was a way to try both to see how they ride, lol! You forgot to mention one other difference - that being the Go is about 33% more expensive than the G2. It may be worth that extra price, but it definitely deserves a mention since it's not a trivial increase.
From what I understand about the ghost is, although it has the Apollo name on it the underpinnings are not proprietary to Apollo. It is good platform used by apollo with only some parts of it being developed in house. Models like the Pro which I have and the Go which I will have soon are completely designed and manufactured by Apollo via a factory using almost entirely in house parts. Apollo won't say it but a product like the GO is superior in design, functionality , durability, and reliability, than their prior gen products Ghost, city, air, phantom.
@@AustinF516 then how come in house scooters have insane issues on them? And the phantom was made in house and they literally had to recall them because one of the front bolt wasn't strong enough 🤦♂️
@@AdamLaaroubi I dont know the specifics of that scooter TBH. However, I do know that based on what Apollo has said in there live streams that The Pro was their first ground up design where they had control over nearly every aspect of the manufacturing. This does not excuse any quality issue in other models. However, it does mean that there are inherent limitations to Apollos ability to manage QC on earlier models. It would not surprise me if the GO proves to be the most relible scooter in its class for 2024!
@@AustinF516 the GO will probably turn out to be bad after a year. the g30 which is basically a g2 but without suspension and turn signals easily surpasses the quality of the apollo ghost even though the ghost uses more expensive parts
@@AdamLaaroubi hey like i said ive never had the chance to ride the ghost or either of those segway models. Here was i can tell you having owned 3 models from Apollo air 22, city pro 22, and Pro Beta. Apollo customer service and service location here in NY have been incredible! If Apollo is able to scale its service locations, while continuing to deliver models like The PRO which IMO is better than any dualtron or segway variant ive compared it too they will capture more market share then their competitors. Here is the difference. Eloi and team are designing scooter models now to be vehicles. All other scooter brands are designed as part time toys that can provide semi reliable transport with minimal back end support. Fell free to follow up with me in 6 months after ive put 500 miles on my GO lol. I will be honest.
If this is all they have to say about their product, then it’s not worth the money or a viable choice compared to Segway. The product and the company need to speak louder than your biased opinion. Give credit where it’s due. Everything about Segway makes sense, unlike Apollo. They are clearly a money-sucking machine. They priced their product so high without proving they are the real deal. They need a better business plan, marketing and selling strategy, pricing strategy, culture, and finally, a reality check. Everything about Apollo is just 📉 nothing makes sense.
Main reason for the 9 inch tires were to accomodate 2, 350 watt motors. If it were 10 inch, the scooter would be noticeably heavier and less portable. The Air only uses 1, 500-watt motor for its 10 inch tires so it remains light. The purpose for the Go is better portability and performance especially for daily commuting while the Air is purely for better ride comfort and leisure rides.
@@ricochet48 yes, you are right - i think it does it pretty well with dual motors (higher top speed, acceleration, hill climb, more efficient battery use), safety features (like the 360 lights and power RBS brake), and finally better build quality (survived 10K KM on our testing rig + higher IP rating).
@@maciekpiskorz7155the max g2 has never actually been $1200. The highest price was really$999. The website just says $1200 to make people think $999 is THE discount.
I really like the reviews & comparisons done by Paul on Electric Scooter Review. In particular, take a look at his "New 2024 Apollo Go: Dual-Motor scooter rides like a mini Apollo Pro", where he compares the Go against other scooters. Here you can hear him say "The Go trounces the Ninebot G2 Max by 1.7 seconds...", better ride, faster, better climber, more portable... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-T-e1Vw9BkHU.html
The max g2 has automatic regen braking with weak and strong settings in the app. I had an issue with my max g2 but because it is over 50 pounds the shipping cost to send it to the repair shop is more than $150 each way, which Segway won't pay for. So i got a local store to fix it instead.
also the handlebars are way smaller on the go, right? if it had slightly bigger handlebars I'd basically buy it right away, but I'm 6 3 and wide shouldered and I don't know if I would like the skinny handlebars of the go
Segway Scooters cant compare to Apollo. I like the City Pro 😁😁😁. Segway is coming out with a new Ebike. It has an X on the front really nice looking but slow 28mph but you can Unlock or Upgrade.
AWD is the key. I'm going for Apollo. There are many hills in my city. IP66 rating as well as my city rains a lot. I really don't care about those many lights in the scooter. I wear reflective vest every time i ride my scooter. Wearing reflective vest is more effective than those extra lights in the scooter. I'm not a fun of regen brakes as it creates a rough ride. Having to control the brake yourself creates a smooth braking. It's not like buying a new brake is expensive. If you use e scooter as a form of commuting to work and your work is like 40km away. It's not even advisable anymore to use an e scooter as it can be tiring to your legs too and the mental stress of negotiating with cars and street noise. By the time you arrive to work, you're mentally drained already. The distance that most people really consume in a day using scooter is between 15 to 30 km. Heck even 30km distance is tiring to your legs. For me, Apollo wins and the main reason is the AWD plus 45km/h speed plus IP66!
I agree with this. Reading through the comments everyone sounds like Segway drones, the Apollo has clear advantages on the features that matter. People talking about the dot display, the lights, no integrated charging cable, no charging limits, WTH?! my last 2 e scooters didn't have any of that and I have literally never even thought to wonder "what if I did have X features".
The difference with the GO is that you still need to press the mechanical brake to have the regen brake engage. Which will most likely activate the mechanical brakes drum brakes too. The GO can be 100% operated without touching the brake handle or wearing down the mechanical brakes! That being said, the segway do have a descent regen for a single motor scooter! Thanks!
@@eloipecquet notwithstanding your typo, this is absolutely NOT true - on the Max G2 (which I own), the regen brake automatically engages when you release the throttle - very disappointing that Apollo has to resort to misinformation
I too have the G2 and use regen breaking exclusively by letting go of the throttle. I'd love to see that option for Apollo scooters, because that's one feature I'd miss by switching over.
Looking forward to having a go as my 'GO' to for quick and easy local riding or for transporting to my favourite Sunday ride locations. Hands down the Go DESTROYS the opposition across pretty much all areas that really matter
I can tell from my experience once your segway scooter break u are in the hell pure true definition of hell the service is absolutely atrocious. I was without my g2 for nearly 5 months and I was forced to threaten them that I'll escalate to competition and consumer protection commission to finally after nearly 5 months get the replacement . The worst experience u can imagine is the segway customer service.
👋 The weight, software, dual motors, and style all seem good, but some of us live in places with a lot of potholes and you barely feel safe with 10 inch wheels. That's why we don't want to go lower than that. 😔
I'm looking at both scooters, both have their advantages/disadvantages. They're both nice. One advantage of Apollo is they have a front office with real people explaining their scooters. Say what you want, but that's 'kinda nice. I wonder if you can turn off and on the front motor and if not having the front motor on contributes to any drag. Nice vid, cruel ending though.
Not sure what you guys think you're doing, but nobody in their right mind will make a decision on purchasing these two scooters based on a competitor's review.
It's a delicate situation to handle, but we receive many requests for this kind of comparison. I believe we have done a good job of being impartial in the video, as we only present factual information. Thank you & looking forward to your review of the GO man :)
I have an G2max. I'm a heavy rider by the way. But deym, this thing overheating many time during my rides. Need to stop frequently to let it cool. Can't say anything about Apollo Go. I'm still about to get 1.
SEGWAY ON MY 600 MILE HANDLE BAR FELL DURING RIDE SPEED DROPS AT %50 BATTERY .. SHE SHAKES LIKE A BABY RATTLE SOUNDS CHEAP ASF AFTER 600 MILES SENDI G HER BACK FOR REPAIR THE STEM LOCK SCREW BROKE SMFH ...
I have a Max and Phantom 2 (and a few other knock offs). I know Apollo had issues early on but they have been addressed a few years now. There is simply no comparison. Apollos innovation, regen braking, controls (throttle response, balance etc.) and quality are a big step ahead for scooters. The idea of making an upgradeable scooter (phantom 1, 2 and 3) is genius and the ride difference between generations (only electronics for most part) is amazing! Keep up the good work. Local support in Aus has been great too ... i'll keep buying if you keep innovating!
Again, it seems like a clear winner here , AG all the way , with all the ways you can reach out to you for after sales, please create a way for us to buy outside Canada and USA, I can become an ambassador in Mexico or figure something out that could be interestingly for you guys, would love to jump on the Apollo team, already reserved my GO!
Apollo rocks love Mt ghost 22 and phantom 22. No other scooter gets as much compliments when I'm around town. Comparing Segway to Apollo is like Comparing Motorolla to Apple 😅
