The Ace Attorney Investigations OSTs before Dual Destinies, please. AAI came out in 2009, and while we never got the game officially overseas, the sequel is just as good and came in 2011 (Known as Gyakuten Kenji 2 in Japan.) Dual Destinies came out in 2013, if I remember.
Hi, I know, you cannot react to everything, but you are the only RU-vidr I know who does Music Reactions, so I have some game soundtrack suggestions that I would be very happy with if you reacted to them :) The List reads: 1. Super Mario Galaxy 2. Super Mario Galaxy 2 3. Ori and the blind forrest 4. Ori and the will of the wisps
Super cool that you immediately picked up on The Guitar's Serenade sounding odd around 44:11. As the chat pointed out, it is plot relevant! There's a pretty cool little moment in the game in which you get to use a mixing board to separate each 'instrument' and find which one is sounding weird.
@@YourAverageBrody Happens thrice, in actuality, once with Klavier's theme, and twice with Guitar Serenade. You have to point out Darian's guitar being weird in Klavier's theme, the gunshot in Lamiroir's singing, and the weird piano playing by the... piano child.
Lmfao, my guy was SO *_(justifiably, mind you)_* blown away with Klavier's theme that he deadass forgot to put the rest of the chapters in the video! That is _priceless!_
Fun fact: The Apollo Justice and phoenix wright version of the “Cornered” theme actually sync up in a really satisfying way. It’s almost like both themes compliment each other. I’d expect nothing less from the themes of teacher and protégée.
@@MusicTheoryforGamers Official You’re welcome. Just a heads up the next game (Investigations Miles Edgeworth) is composed by the Trials and Tribulations Composer, Noriyuki Iwadare, in collaboration with Yasuko Yamada (this will be her last Credited Composition in general). Noriyuki will go on to be composer for Ace Attorney Investigations 2, AA: Dual Destinies, and AA: Spirit of Justice.
The music of the AA series really got a glow up on the DS, the DS’s crunchy soundfont is just so good. Also I’ve mentioned them before but I definitely recommend Persona 3 & 4’s OST’s, I think they’d be great for the channel.
I can highly recommend Persona 4 as well, even just from what I've heard of its music already! ^^ (I'm not that far into the game just yet) And agreed, I absolutely LOVE DS soundfonts
I got to recommend listening to The Messenger. The game literally has 2 OSTs because you switch between the past and the future in it. What is done with the music is phenomenal.
After you react to every Ace Attorney OST left (including spin-offs, they're REALLY good too), you definitely should look into Ghost Trick's OST. It was made by composer of the first Ace Attorney game, and it's just sooooo good
You have to do the Ace Attorney Investigation series next! Honestly had the best music in the entire series, and it was unconventional in terms of what you've been listening to in the series so far.
This man's facial expressions are so funny that i forget to listen to what he's saying sometimes. My worst nightmare is trying to hold a conversation with him irl, i would not be paying attention.
16:10 i love you picked up on the alternating "tick tocks" here -- this was intentional to tie in with the pendulum / tachometer / "grandfather clock" design impressing upon the importance of time on the mood of the environment
There is a full version of Guilty Love on one of the soundtrack albums - it's even more of a banger and has vocals (in Japanese, obvs)! And it has a cameo from Apollo himself, if you can recognize the melody ;) It's here - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-visRMohDgmU.html
It's super interesting to see your insights into some of my favourite soundtracks! Thanks for doing these - as an aside, I recently bought your Electric Guitar for beginners book, me and my GF are very much enjoying learning to finally play, so thanks again for that!
LOVE IT!!!!! Thanks for sharing your success! Rock and roll both of you! If you could leave a review or even just a rating that would be super helpful! amzn.to/3gHJGlu
@@MusicTheoryforGamers the 2 investigations games released on the ds but dual destinies and spirit of justice were released on the 3ds so the music is really different
@@MusicTheoryforGamers Ace Attorney Investigations 1 and 2 came out on the DS in 2009 and 2011 respectively, while Dual Destinies came out in 2013, and I believe they have the same composer as the first and third game, so it would be a more familiar style before the change to orchestral heavy stuff in DD
@@MusicTheoryforGamers ace attorney investigations uses the ds soundfont while dual destinies is fully orchestrated! So if you wanna continue listening to the ace attorney osts, it might me better if you go with investogations since jumping from soundfont to orchestrated and back to soundfont feels kinda wierd
@@MusicTheoryforGamers Hell yeah my dude! The PVZ soundtrack is fantastic, i look forward to it And might I recommend the Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack as well? it's one of the best out there in terms of video game soundtracks, and just in terms of music overall I'd say
I'm not usually one for commenting on videos, but watching your commentary through on these soundtracks has been enjoyable recently. If you're planning on doing more of the Ace Attorney games, will you be doing all of them? All of the games including the spinoffs all have fantastic soundtracks. (If you're looking to see the evolution of music technology with the series, I'd reccomend the two Investigations games, Ace Attorney Investigations 1 and then Ace Attorney Investigations 2, before you move onto Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice. And finally, the most recent games, The Great Ace Attorney 1 and 2 after those. *Be careful with TGAA2 though, many tracks in that series have EXTREME spoilers in their soundtracks!) I don't know if you've been recommended this yet, but I think the Danganronpa games would be fun and fitting to go through after you finish Ace Attorney. They're fantastic. Also. Another recommendation. Look into "roguelike" or "roguelite" games, they usually have a lot of good soundtracks Risk of Rain, Risk of Rain 2, and The Binding of Issac are a few that come to mind right away, but there are a lot of them out there. Love your content, cheers.
I don't know if it was said in the stream, I'm just starting to watch the video, but one of the composers of Apollo Justice was the same guy that did the music for the MegaMan X series, Toshihiko Horiyama.
Love listening to him gush over the improvements in sound quality that being a DS game brought! I really hope he covers Ori and the Blind Forest at some point!
btw, for your interest, the composers of this particular game were also involved in one of the best soundtracks for the SNES: Mega Man X! That's another good recommendation if you want to take a look
The awesome use of stereo on these soundtracks makes me wanna utilize it more in my own music. I also think it’s awesome how all the music from the different games share a similar DNA and you get to see the same ideas reinterpreted again and again.
Loving the AA hype train! At some point I hope you can listen to some music from Fire Emblem (specifically FE Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, FE Fates, and FE: Three Houses), Danganronpa, and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. Those are some of my favorites :)
Ah, I love this series so much! I haven’t seen it live but I always loved how you explained the music. You should totally do an overview after finishing the OSTs. Comparing the composition choices, the different ways the composers do the Pursuit theme and your overall experience with the themes.
Tell the Truth 2007 is one my favorite soundtracks from the whole series. When it's combined with the sound effects (the murmuring, the gavel-hammering, the Objections, the desk-slamming and wall-slamming) everything sounds just right. PS: It's funny you talk about the DS capabilities for music volume increase/decrease. A mechanic in the game is messing with an audio mixer where you can change the volume of separate instruments while playing a couple of the songs from the soundtrack. PSS: 40:38 "Oh, no! You just didn't made that reference, did you!?" - the fox.
Others have asked but i really hope you dont skip of Ace Attorney Miles Edgeworth Investigations 1 and 2. While the 2nd one never got an official english release, it was fan translated and many people, including myself, consider it one of if not the best installment of the series.
I'm gonna go ahead and suggest the Jet Set Radio soundtrack. I'm sure someone already has, but I think it'd be interesting to see what you think of it.
Hey, I don’t know if this is the place for suggestions, nor do I know if you accept random suggestions. But an OST I’m a huge fan of is “Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling”’s. It’s a simple, yet great OST (At least in my opinion! I’m not a musician by any means though!). I hope you will consider this, and I hope you are having, and will continue to have a wonderful day! I just recently found your channel, and I’m loving it! Keep it up!
Thank you for reacting to this soundtrack :D one of my favorites!! Kind of a stretch, but I hope you could check out Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross soundtracks sometime! cheers!
This ost has always had a tie for best in the series with the original AA, imo. Upon relistening something felt wildly familiar and after a google search found that composer, Toshihiko Horiyama, also did the music for Megaman X4.
If you ever get a chance, I recommend checking out some of the ost of Touhou 6: Embodiment of the Scarlet Devil. A lot of the songs are really iconic and I’m sure you’d love it a lot!
Hey man I'm loving this AA content so much, but I have a suggestion. Don't do "dual destinies" next. There are two more Canon games in between Apollo justice and dual destinies. They are also on the DS, as opposed to the 3ds like dual destinies. That being miles Edgeworth- investigations 1 ans 2. You should really do those first, especially since you seem to be really interested in seeing the progression of the sound team. Either way I'll be watching !
Seems everyone is too scared to recommend the Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, but someone's gotta do it. It's a game from 2013 that's recently experienced a huge boom in popularity for it's easily memable quotes and ridiculously high production soundtrack. Highly recommended!
Great stream/video as always ✌🏾 Would love to see "Ridge Racer Type 4" on a poll, it's often regarded as one of the best racing game soundtracks of all time!
You should really listen to the OST of splatoon and splatoon 2 they're *a bit* chaotic but I really like them, terraria and genshin impact music are really good too
This was great! I love your insight on how this OST compares to the original trilogy's. This might've been better to suggest on your Sonic Mania reaction, but have you considered reacting to the Sonic Robo Blast 2 soundtrack? It's an amazing Sonic fangame with an incredible soundtrack that I'd love to see your take on. Just an idea to maybe put in the polls eventually!
In my opinion, Apollo Justice has the best CONERED theme Fun fact: Guitar's Saranade is a peice of evidence used in the game The key is that some parts of the Keyboard in the game story was off cause it reveals something
My dude, if you could react to the Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack, it'd be amazing. It's one of the best video game soundtracks ever, and the first ever video game to have a live orchestra used in its soundtrack, and they do a hell of a lot with said orchestra. There's music that you'd never expect to be in any Mario game and it's all so well done and well worth looking through.
Ok so I know I have recommended this before, but I didn't really do a good job describing it, so I am going to recommend it one last time and actually go in detail on it. I would highly recommend checking out the Ori and the Blind Forest OST. It was composed by Gareth Coker, who also did work for Halo Infinite and Ark: Survival Evolved, among many other things, however I feel as though Blind Forest is by far his best work. This OST makes heavy use of vocals, piano, wind instruments, and a few others, with the instruments actually changing based on your area (ie, WAY more wind instruments in windy areas, or wood percussion being used inside of a tree dungeon). The soundtrack is used expertly in-game, with many of the games emotional moments being carried almost entirely by the beautiful soundtrack. As a result, it wont be quite as good of an experience listening to it without the game, but I still wholeheartedly believe it would make for an excellent reaction.
the anime ost thing is kinda difficult because they don't all have a banging ost, in fact the only 3 i can immediately think of (that would also get views) are the attack on titan ost (devided in 4 seasons, the last one with a different composer) and the evangelion and bleach ones (both of the same composer) jojo and cowboy bebop too but idk how many people would be interested in full ost reactions for those, barring a few tracks that people actually do search reacts of
idea: there are a lot of soundtracks that are either very big or very generic with a few BIG highlights maybe every now and then doing a mixed reaction where people give specific tracks under a community post for you to listen to? idk if you'd be interested in something like that but hey it's an idea (you can also tag your video with more games for more views 😳)
I hope one day after you go through this banger of a soundtrack from the Ace Attorney series, you can do the Yakuza series! It has a bit of everything but emphasizes hard hitting beats. Great vids btw
I absolutely appreciate AA4 for the advancements it has done for the music in terms of sound and the instrumentation used. A New Trial is in Session is by far my favourite Objection theme in the entire series by far! However, something was missing in this OST - a specific core. While the new and wider range of instruments is great, the actual compositions themselves feel lacking compared to AA3. An easy example would be comparing Allegro 2004 with Allegro 2007. Allegro 2007 feels like if you took Moderato 2007, increased the tempo, and boosted the bass up a bit. Compare that to Allegro 2004 where the piece was given a progression that increased the emotional core that piece ends up conveying. Same thing can be said with the trial themes, the detention center themes, and many others. The Trials and Tribulations version would try to give these pieces extra flair that left a stronger impact on the piece itself, whilst Apollo Justice tried to keep it to more simpler and less challenging melodies. Now there isn't anything wrong with simple necessarily, and often times simpler melodies end up being far more catchy - such as in the case of Moderato 2007, however it often ends up feeling like stock music. The music sounds nice in the moment - and the improvement in technology allows it to have a much stronger initial impact - however it doesn't stick with you for as long after listening. Now obviously there are exceptions. Tracks live Guilty Love and Landscape Painter in Sound definitely have emotional complexity in them that differentiates them from the rest of the OST - however for the most part the sound tracks seems to fall a bit more on the generic side when it comes to the overall composition and melodies - which leads me to my ultimate point. You can have all of the technologies you want, and use all of the new technology to create sounds and music that you couldn't create otherwise. However, the skill of the artist and the quality of the music doesn't depend on how many different instruments they can use - instead its often about how well they can deal with the limitations they have to deal with - and create music that push those limits as far as they can. This is why so many tracks created during the 8 bit NES days continue to be popular today - artists of the day dealt with the limitations of being restricted to simple beeps and bloops - and still managed to produce tracks with different textures, motifs, and moods. This is why despite being technologically inferior, and having to deal with less flexibility than AA4, AA3 remains one of my favourite OSTs in the entire franchise. Despite being stuck on the GBA sound card, it seems like the composer went out of his way to push the system to its absolute limits, and created so many interesting and complex tracks that are extremely memorable and strike at an emotional core in a way that most AA4 tracks fail to do. P.S. I probably butchered my explanations for why I feel the way about the AA3 tracks, and I apologize. Any insight could be helpful. EDIT: I also want to add that something interesting AA3 did was that it also had tracks that sounded different depending on the context of when it was played in the game. Now unfortunately if you haven't played the game, this is really hard to explain without spoiling basically the entirety of the plot - however there's a weird effect that happens in many of the tracks where they begin conveying completely different emotions based off both the context of what's happening within the game - and based off the experiences that the player has had with the characters and the story that unfolded - all without changing the actual piece itself. This especially applied to the tracks Trial, The Fragrance of Dark Coffee, and Distant Beauty. None of the tracks in AA4 really have this - basically all tracks are written to serve one very specific purposes - and their tones never shift depending on the feelings of the player.
i'd totally give the The Binding of Isaac soundtrack a try. it's a great mix of dark rock and general ethereal vibes. There are several albums, by Ridiculon, in the following order - The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth - The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth - The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ - The Binding of Isaac: Repentance My personal favorite track is probably "Revelations 13-1." It's a longer one, but the flow and mastery is so perfect. For additional listening, consider the original TBOI soundtrack by Danny Baronowsky, made for the first Flash demo of the game. Also, the "Antibirth" soundtrack by Mudeth, of which there are 3 albums. It's technically fan content, but the music this content was made for has become canon, and it's good music anyway so why not. happy listening!
You should head around back to the 2 Miles Edgeworth spin-off games. They came out right after Apollo’s game, so they’re still on the ds, but it’s still really good
I sincerely hope you'll also be doing Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth and Ace Attorney Investigations 2 when you're done with the mainline
The Guitar Serenade is souding quite weird to you because it is supposed to be an enigmatic singer from another country cooperating with local band. It is supposed to sound unique.
