Took me a moment to realize that as they were breaking apart, Apollo was both supporting Leonidas with one arm and also holding Geirolul's hand with the other, he's the first God to outright acknowledge the Valkyrie fighting alongside the Human, calling them both the most beautiful. Damn if he didn't have a complete reversal of expectations from his first appearance, so glad that he didn't end up being another unlikeable God like it seemed when he was introduced.
In this series, my favorite part is that the gods and humans that fight, even if the they lose, they're so respectful to either side. Especially when they put them through hell like that.
@@Sanic55 Excluding Poseidon, who spent the whole fight looking down at Sasaki and spent his last words cussing him out (Sasaki distinctly dis-liked him in turn, even mocking him mid-battle for not comprehending dreams). Arguably Adam didn't give a fig about Zeus either, he had little to say about his foe (Zeus grew to respect him though).
@@vc180191honestly that’s why I loved Poseidon at the end. There was no change in personality just from one fight, he gets his limbs cut off and just calls Sasaki a fucking loser and dies, what a legend
They can't harm the gods without volundr which is also a soul bond between the human and valkyrie allowing them to harm the gods with their body plus the weapon the valkyrie turned into.
@27Bayleefs No they cannot they only can injure them with their body because of the soul bond with a valkyrie maybe you want to reread the manga no human was ever shown injuring any God because of their natural strength with no valkyrie. No human made weapons that are not divine weapons whatsoever won't even put a scratch on them meaning they ain't doing shit with their body either.
According to greek mythology in the first olympic games the gods participate. Apollo proved faster than Hermes and stronger than Ares. Apollo was not a joke in terms of abilities and power
When i first see APOLLO i really thought he is gonna be another POSEIDON (Arrogance & Narcissist), oh boy i was wrong when i read his back story, Apollo really Started from the Bottom (Ordinary God) , he climbed in the ranks of the GODS through BLOOD & EFFORT. The Ordinary God who had NOTHING become one of the 12 Gods of the Olympus KNOW THYSELF
@@fegemarsilang5746lol he was not a chill god in the stories, but Apollo is one of the best gods in Greek Mythos. Out of all the gods, he was always the most human-like in turns of emotions. Apollo is the typenof being to always wear his heart on his sleeve, so anything he said or did he often meant. Like when he killed the Cyclops for revenge after Zeus killed his son. On one side, it can be aeen as just petty or mismanaged angry, but on the flip side, its a being who lost their son and took matters into their own hands (the son was eventually revived by Zeus/Hades). While he can be cruel as the other gods, like when he killed a satyr because he played music as good, most often Apollo emotions are genuine and the most human.
The Leonigoat stroke again, giving one hell of a beating to a god who pulled out titan-class weapons, all with a weird shield-mace and his pure brutality.
Ngl this fight didn't really follow up Round 7 & 8 too well, but then again those fights were absolute peak. Loved Leonidas' attitude and Apollo's beliefs about true beauty, plus those Doflamingo-looking strings were a suitably OP ability. Thank you for another divine upload!
I think if it had been just a few chapters longer it would have been one of the top fights. The emotion was turned up to 11 in this one. Leonidas and Apollo both needed a tiny bit more backstory and I could have done with even more Geirolul, what an amazing Valkyrie, my favorite since Thrud.
Meh. Not a single fight managed to get anywhere near Jack vs Hercules. It's a retread of the same ol' "push harder" every time for the fights themselves. Thematically it looks better for the most part but still, it peaked really early
A god who gained his god status. He wasn’t given god hood like the other 11 gods, no…he gained his godhood through sheer fucking hard work and determination
Ngl I wished they give him spear since it was one of his main weapons. It would’ve allowed perfect offence and defence. But instead only giving him a shield with some razors and dumbbell is kind of disappointing
The young Spartans were not allowed to wear anything but one cloak. No shoes, no underwear, and no additional clothes were permitted -- even in winter. They slept in their military groups, on reeds they plucked out of the river with their own hands. What did Spartans wear in battle? Going into battle, a Spartan soldier, or hoplite, wore a large bronze helmet, breastplate and ankle guards, and carried a round shield made of bronze and wood, a long spear and sword. Spartan warriors were also known for their long hair and red cloaks.
Gotta love how Ares, the God of War, has literally zero clue about things like "warrior instinct". It's always driven me a little nuts how outright stupid and incompetent a War God this version of him is. It makes no sense at all. I understand they need a character to use as an excuse for exposition, but why did it have to be the God of War? It seems pretty weird..
@@moahammad1mohammad Yes and no. Ares is the slaughter and crude war. Athena is the tactics and refined war. This is the real distinctive part of them. Ares is a master combatant. Athena is a master tactician. So this means ares probably has a bloodthirsty mode that he doesn't use because he is similar to a berserker. If athena could fight using armies she would be more prominent.
@@temkin9298 eh lets be honest. Ares is just the ultimate butt monkey in every fictional series. From God of War to DC Comics to Marvel Comics to Percy Jackson to this series.
honestly takes me back to the first episode when we thought thor was just an unfeeling jerk but slowly came up and respected his opponent was a good match all the way thru
This is the only fight that came on par with adam vs zeus Well done mate the osts choices and the synchronization made this a true master piece The only fight that delivered the same hype and sentiments as adam vs zeus 👏👏👏
Leo is the only human who made a god bleed with out a divine weapon that headbutt was brutal. And Adam technically has a divine body cause he's is a copy of God's image
To be fair, this is the end of the world, where all of mankind is fighting together, so Leonidas having access to modern combat military wear isn't so wild tbh
I think the main issue with this fight is how one note some people interpreted Leonidas to be and that this fight came after what was arguably one of the top 3 fights in the whole series with Tesla Vs Beelzebub, the formerbeing a gigachad in all sense of the word. Leonidas and Apollo were a lot alike due to them knowing full well, who and what they were, in Apollo's mantra "Know thyself". We love Apollo now, we were just hoping for far more with Leonidas since the dude is a legend in human history. Still decent fight but gonna be a while maybe till someone tops Tesla Vs Beelzebub
Just that Leonidas had the balls to look at Apollo and go "send it at me you god mother f***er" Makes me so hype to see this fight in the Anime because that Scene Alone will make me LMFAO 😂😂 it's gonna be so dope though... But then again Most of R.O.R has been so far... So far only one fights been chit ifykyk I won't spoil anything for anyone
Apollo is the opposite of expectations from a narcissistic person to the best character of the gods and Leonides, although I do not like the design of Leonides in terms of feelings, but in terms of logic, this is the best possible design for Leonides, and Leonides’ past is excellent and his ending is wonderful, despite the fact that he is blinded by anger and does not use strategies. Because of this, he was blinded and did not use his famous spear due to his quest to destroy the face of Apollo, but Leonides remains a good character, and Apollo is an excellent character, and the fighting in general is very good.
I don't know. Humanity been pulling some hitters. I still think Zeus should've lost to Adam tho, but that's just me...Biased and Zeus was a di¢k n mythology. Glad a human socked him a few good times.
@@ikari6399 If Adam had won that fight... it would potentially be the beginning of the end for humanity. With Gods' strongest fighter - their leader - falling down, every other God would give their 100% or more to win, as they would know that humans can beat and kill them. Poseidon would unleash the flurry of deadly attacks as soon as the fight began, Shiva would start dancing to his heart's content and not give his opponent any room for counterattacking, Hades would unleash his Ichor: Desmos and easily tear the enemies apart; it's safe to assume Odin would want to fight sooner as well to destroy any hope humans would have. Mind as well that the potential match-ups could be drastically different, and while there are constants (specifically Buddha betraying Gods, Hades wanting to avenge his younger brother, and Susano'o wanting to face Okita), the story could change dramatically, and not necessarily for the better. While it's a pity Adam had died... it ultimately ended up better for the humans; even in the death, he didn't stop fighting until Zeus was at his knees, tired and broken. He gave humans hope that even the strongest Gods aren't safe from human's determination. He lived as a legend, fought as a hero, and died as a martyr.
Its nice to see Apollo take a 90 degree turn on his personality that we knew vs what we now know. You'd think a man with the title "the most beautiful in the cosmos" would be a narcissistic douche. But if anything, he is extremely supportive of those who earn his respect. To the point he doesn't even care about them being human, Valkyrie or anything else. It does make me wonder then however, with such a god almost around Hercules' level of shine. That why wouldn't he have gone to help Sparta. Less he had other things he had to worry about at the time or something. This is also the first time outside of Buddha we have seen any god physically acknowledge their apponent dying and respecting them and wishing things could have sort of been different. The end of the fight where apollo is slumped down on his knees after Leo dies, also says quite a lot just considering how he earlier refused to kneel.
Why does Leonidas look like a mix of Big Boss from MGS and Captain America? Where's his Spear? Spartans fight with shields and spears. Like they couldn't have given him Valkyrie twins or something.
Yeah, but I have a strong feeling either we are left with just goll or brunhilde. It certainly looks like they are foreshadowing brun dying, and setting up goll to have to step up as the last resort
I wish Leo had a spear with his shield, and wore the clothes of a spartan but other than that, I think this fight was pretty cool. They both made really dumb decisions on both sides but if Apollo didn’t stop using his speed to his advantage, then this fight would have been boring and one sided.
They could have done so much more with this fight 😞 -Give Leo a spear or sword -Give Leo modern weapons:Guns, Grenades, Rocket launcher -Give Apollo more light or flame power🔥 -Ain’t Apollo the God of healing? -More blood and hits! They be punching their opponent once and they be on the verge of death in RoR -Make the fight longer! The author must of really hated the fight or just wanted to move on to the next round.
@@msxd1280 I feel like they should have given him some guns or grenades. What was the point of giving him the military design if he ain’t gonna pull out the Glock? They should have just given him his old classic Sparta attire. Would have made more sense.
@@msxd1280 True but didn't leonidas said that at one point when brunhilder was recruiting him that he doesn't want to stay stagnant and took advice from human soldiers from his time all the way to modern day. Isn't that why hes wearing modern military gear in the first place? I dont think modern weapons are off the table.
This is hands down my favorite series for one reason and one reason mainly the gods are potrayed as what they are GODS they will not lose by some simple means or be so full of themselves at to never take the battle seriously
ok why does leonidas look like an american soldier like cmon now bro had a whole blunt in his mouth, idk i would have loved too see em in actual spartan uniform ya know
He was reading a book on modern warfare before the fight, so that’s why he decided to dress like that. He looks cool, don’t get me wrong, but I’d also would’ve loved to see him in Spartan attire.
Leonidas character design, personality, and weapon choice were all kinda disappointing ngl. The Cigar trope just doesn't make sense at all, the weapons don't match any of the ones he used in history other than the base shield, and he just comes off as very 1-note to bolster Apollo's character. Leo got done dirty in this series.
The cigar definitely didn’t make sense. You wanna keep a strong body like that? Don’t smoke. Then again, it’s anime, and they don’t suffer any consequences 😂
Honestly this fight was kinda disappointing for me. Leonidas had a pretty dumb reason to utterly despise Apollo, Apollo had to reduce the arena size just for Leo to have a chance, and Apollo’s character basically did a 180 from how he acted in the beginning. It should’ve been Apollo vs Simo Hayha; humanity’s deadliest sniper vs the archer of the gods
