We've been using The Good and the Beautiful for math and it's also open and go, but we are running into both of my kids getting overwhelmed with the whole page of problems to practice. I'm curious about their math for younger grades. I'll check it out!
Funny enough, I was gifted a ton of TGTB for my two younger girls so we're going to try them out for next year, but I'll still do Apologia math for my oldest!!!
Wow! I have not looked too deeply into Apologia! This looks awesome. I like the fun elements. My daughter is doing ABEKA 1 and also does not like the amount of problems. Do you feel like the teacher guide helps you teach? That's my issue with ABEKA. I feel like it doesn't give a lot of help.
The teachers guide has more general tips for teaching than specific instructions, but the workbooks are open and go and provide the instruction and explanation for the lessons right at the beginning of the book! Their online resource library has a lot teaching resources for each chapter though!
They can do the lessons independently! There were a few lessons where there was a game as the opening activity that could either be done with the parent or another sibling, but for the most part it is pretty open and go for the student to use on their own!
They currently don't have video “lessons” but the online library resources take you to videos and resources to help you explain concepts. They have those links broken down by chapters!
