I was able to finish my app with the help of this tutorial. Much thanks. The only thing that messed me up was, I used the append instead of the save function. It kept on adding everything that was saved upon everything else that I saved, but I needed it cleared for the next use.
This helped me almost complete my app. But is there a way to clear the stored data in /savedfile/text so that new data can be saved again without bringing up the old data along with it?

Hi Mark. Thank you for that kind comment. You can use TinyDB to store database data on the phone. Or you could save the data in a delimited file type suchas csv and then import that into your app.

Did you check it after installing the app on the mobile? I am trying to get the text file and I can't find it. (with the Al companion it's ok). The file is saved somewhere for sure but be seen!!!??? Do you know where and how can I find it? Thanks
Sir, the app works but I cannot locate the file.... where the file gets stored? I am not having memory card but having only internal storage... But i am not able to locate the file in entire memory...

I ask you a question, I unzipped an app from a Bible, and decompressing could see in the folder called (assets) within the same, there is another folder called (Bible) and within the same more folders (Cap1, Cap2) and within xml files. +Toontic Hey. You'll need to embed the ASCII charachters for the linespaces and formatting and so on into the string itself depending on which app will be unencoding it.
Hi Brian. Many thanks for responding to my query. I'm trying to create an app with app inventor that does not use any third party apps so is self contained. I was hoping that I could send from the app an email that has the Text not all bunched together but has separate paragraphs and headings from text saved to separate files in the tinyDB, including picture files, and amalgamate selected paragraphs and pics in an email. I've created separate Labels buttons where I call the selected paragraphs too. So it works fine on the screen of the app but not when I create a send button and duplicate the code I have on the screen and assign it to email. Any ideas? Best Felix

+Bilal Bo I would store them in a delimited text field in the file and them retrieve them directly into a list. You can then use the Split text function in conjunction with the "for each" command to separate the usernames. From the forums: 1. remove any spaces in the filename 2. and if you want to save to sdcard, you have to prefix the filename with / 3. and use Do it to find out, how your created filename looks like...(see below) Use "Do It" to debug your blocks In case you are unsure, what's happening in your blocks, there is the Do it functionality, which can help you to find out, what's going on. Just right-click onto a block and select Do it from the menu to get a Do it result in a comment window. Note: you need a connection to a device or emulator for this to work.
