The lyricist fcked up in multiple places. Whoever the lyricist is hasn't studied poetic metre. He has literally zero knowledge of poetry. Devare itta muhurtavidu. Wth, thats totally violating the time stamp of the song and it sounds frking ugly. And even "appa", like wth, that sounds so bad for this song. Thats becasue -pp- consonant cluster in clearly a plosive cluser. Softer clusters, like Anna instead should've been used chose. This is a huge problem when translating songs from one language to another. You have to be extra careful and a direct translation will never work. This is just an example: Hindi: Agar-uh tujhe hogaya kuch-uh sari duniya jala denge Kannada: Appa ninagenadaru nanidi lokavane suduve In lay man terms, the first line has 19 syllables and the second has 18 syllables. Not just that, the stress in both is totally off. The music is made for the Hindi lyrics originally, so the stress in the Hindi version is timed harmoniously to the music. In the Kannada version, the lyricist has screwed up big time. In Agar-uh, the stress is on the third syllable -uh. In Appa, it is on the last a, but also on the fking bilabial plosive consonant cluster -pp-. Anyone with a brain would rather use retroflex cluster like the case of Anna (ಅಣ್ಣ) which is much softer, and is much closer to Agar. Tujhe is supposed to be rythmically congruous to ninage, but the former has 2 syllables and the latter 3. Already messed up. Plus, in Tujhe e is the stress point. Even in ninge, e is the stress point, but in the latter e is the freaking 3rd syllable, in the former it is the 2nd syllable. What that fking means is that by the time the music has moved on and the Hindi has moved to stressing on hogaya, the fking Kannada lyrics is still stressing on the god damn e from ninage. Sorry Vardaraj, but you messed up. Can't beleive they let this release. Literally sub-standard lyrics. Goes to show, poetics isn't everyone's cup of tea. And that too in a language like Kannada which has literally reached incredible heights in poetry, creating poetry should be easier because of the quality and quantity of literature available. You honestly have to be straight up sup!d and illiterate to fk up this bad. As it has been said in Kavirājamārga-12, "ಬಸನಂ ತನಗಿನಿತಱ ಬೇವಸಮೇಂ ಕವರ್ದರುಮೊಳರೆ ಕವಿಯಲ್ಲದರಂ" (roughly "no one will blame a non-poet for not trying to write poetry"). Better be silent than come up with such crap in the name of lyrics. P.S: Sorry for the rant.
