Amazing!! I just subscribed to your channel. I accidentally found it since my friend and I will be hiking this AT section very soon. I love the details, narration, and all the things about this video. I barely make comments on hiking videos, but this one really had me on all sorts of emotions. I had hiked the AT section of all of the Smokies end of April, and this reminded me why I needed to return to the AT! Thank you SO much for sharing your adventures and all of your details! PS: loved that you prayed for God's provision!
@@hikingwithaaron you’re very welcome and thank you! My friend and I are sad that you didn’t get to see the ponies, yes- hope that we do as this is the very reason for this section! Happy trails :)
What can I say Aaron, this was phenomenal. This was an incredibly detailed and beautiful video. The thumbnail to start with was phenomenal! Your narration is the best I have come across on youtube. There was so much content and details on this video. I can see that you really put your heart into this video, spectacular content! Grayson Highlands is on my list for sure. what a beautiful world we live in.
Thanks. You're too kind. I really appreciate the comments coming from a film maker as yourself. Have you ever thought about doing a backpacking trip? I would love to see you make a film on that.
@@WALTERZOLNA That's awesome! Can't wait to see the video of that. How many days does that take? I was thinking about doing that sometime. Looks really nice.
@@hikingwithaaron its 31 miles long so i am planning to do it in 3 days. It's definitely going to be a different experience, Im not used to carrying much weight but Im totally stoked to do it, just gonna take my time.
@@WALTERZOLNA That's the key, to take your time. I know you love to wake up early so you'll have plenty of time to get the miles done and to get all those great shots you do. Have a great time out there.
Another awesome video journal, Aaron. I really, really enjoyed this. You do such a great job with filming and editing. I also really appreciate your narration. Such a great job! I really appreciated the views you had. I think my favorite part was your camp site on the second night. Wow, I would've loved to camp at a spot like that! Beautiful. Your tent is pretty interesting. It looks like it has no floor. I'm not sure I'd like sleeping in that - especially if it rains! Dane
Actually, after I posted this comment I went back and looked up your tent. I saw that it indeed has a floor! It's a pretty cool - and lightweight design!
@@Featheredprop Thanks so much for your kind comments, Dane. Your hiking videos are definitely an inspiration for the style I've done my last two backpacking trips. Looking forward to seeing your speed hike of the LHHT. This tent is definitely unusual. It is always sold out and I had to order it the second it was available in January. The tent sold out in 3 minutes. Yes, it definitely has a floor. I'm no minimalist, for sure. It weighs 31 ounces and has a unique design. It pitches in a couple minutes and you can pitch it in the rain without getting the inside wet. I only used it for 3 nights but I'm looking forward to getting out again in it. Again, thanks for watching and commenting.
This is a hike I want to do. I heard so many great things about the AT Grayson Highlands section and ponies. I enjoyed following along with you on this hike. I can't believe you didn't see any ponies. Wow.
Hey I enjoyed your video! My wife and I just recently visited this area we camped in a travel trailer at Grayson Highlands and did some day hiking on the AT. We saw some of the horses on our day hike, it was a great experience. We also saw several through hikers. We also rode our bikes down the Virginia Creeper and ate lunch at the Damascus Diner. This is a great area to visit and we would like to go back some day. Your video was very well done and I appreciate your sharing it with us! Thanks!
Thanks so much. I must have missed seeing your comment. I'd love to go back with my wife and my friends to bike the Creeper Trail. That looked like a lot of fun.
I love all your videos! I stumbled upon them when planning a section hike of the AT. and have continued to watch them all! Thankyou for letting us know your gear recommendations too!
@@hikingwithaaron Hi Aaron! Planning on the Pen-Mar to Harpers Ferry. I know it's baby steps, but very excited! Your videos have helped tremendously in planning! Love your honesty, filming and music!
I'm not familiar with anything north of Grayson Highlands. I hope to do all of Shenandoah National Park on the AT next year, but that's quite a bit longer at around 100 miles. From what I've seen on RU-vid, it looks like there is a section called the Triple Crown. It includes places called Dragon's Tooth, McAfee Knob, and Tinker Cliffs. I've never been there but I think that's one of the highlights of VA.
3 days further at this pace would get you to Atkins where it crosses rt 81. There are some cool spots between. I did grayson highlands to bland last spring over 6 days.
That's a difficult question to answer but there are many campsites along the trail and several shelters. There are many maps and resources online to tell you where to camp. I use the app called FarOut. There is a fee for it but it was invaluable to me on the trail.
