Appeal for information following an armed robbery in Kings Norton.
DC Katie Morris has today (26/02) released CCTV footage of two men stealing a crate of beer at gunpoint from Vardon Supermarket on Vardon Way in Kings Norton.
The masked men walked into the store, just after 7.30PM on Tuesday 6th January, and threatened the shopkeeper in Vardon Supermarket on Vardon Way, Kings Norton with what appeared to be a handgun and demanded money, but the shopkeeper immediately activated his alarm and grabbed a baseball bat to fend off his attackers leaving them to make off with nothing more than the beer and a mobile phone.
Both men are described as being white, in their 20s, around 5’10" − 6’ tall with a skinny build. One was wearing a blue jacket, a hooded top and tracksuit bottoms. The other wore a black jacket and black tracksuit bottoms.
DC Morris, said: "This was a violent and frightening robbery by two men who had no regard for the safety of the shopkeeper or his customers.
The shopkeeper acted bravely to defend his livelihood and in this case it paid off, but the reality is this could have ended in tragedy. We would not recommend acts of heroism when confronted by a potentially loaded gun.
I would urge anyone who recognises the men to contact me on 101."
