This was extremely helpful. I wish Google Docs had a way to do this. I'm going to download the brief to Word, then do the TOC and TOA and upload it. Here's hoping it works.
The table of authorities is shorted in alphabetical order, not page number. Such can not be changed, I am told. Here is a workaround to make the sorting (by page number) automatic. Example Statutes may not be sorted in the order in which they appear in the document. Work Around. State v. Hardy, appears on page 19 State v. Pledger, appears on page 12 However, Hardy comes before Pleger. What to do? Ad a number before the entries when creating the text for the table. Example 01 State v. Pledger, appears on page 12 02 State v. Hardy, appears on page 19 (the leading number could be any number scheme - use 1, 2, 3 , 4, or just use page number, how ever you want the list sorted) 01 comes before 02 so the index is sorted correctly. Then, once the document is in its final format, delete the leading numbers from the index. (easier than cutting and pasting). Tip: use leading "0" because if you do not 11 will come before 2 but 11 will not come before 02. (Final Sorting) State v. Pledger, appears on page 12 State v. Hardy, appears on page 19
