Apple Airpods Pro on a Motorcycle. Noise cancellation tested.

It is not a review by any means. Just an average Joe with a motorcycle and Airpods Pro having fun testing active noise cancellation feature.
1. Does it work on the bike? Yes, to some extent.
2. Ist the noise cancellation great? No. Not even decent.
3. Is it comfortable? Depends on the person. Ok, for me.
4. How is the music quality? Poor.
5. What was the most annoying thing? Taking the helmet off, stems of the Airpods Pro get in the way. Wearing the balaklava will address that problem.

To be honest, I was very sceptical at first to try anc ear pods at first. But in my experience, I figured I could hear high frequencies much clearer. Having cancelled consistent road noise made riding a lot safer for me. And more relaxed, too. In cities and on busy roads as well for that matter

Not countering anything you've said about wearing headphones to muffle awareness sounds but me being on a cruiser (Suszuki m109), I wear ear plugs to protect my hearing against motor and wind noises. I do find the responses to your video very helpful.

I use AirPod Pros with a shark helmet. Siri works great even when riding. Only negative I have with them is the bass fades the faster you go, not a massive issue tho. Phone calls during riding is also crystal clear and the person in the other end of the call can hear me perfectly.

ERV if you get a good deal prior to donning the helmet I think it’s ok. I like to hear the engine, however there is still wind noise but I don’t have a decent screen to protect me properly from air flow

johnnysneds I should check and see if the latest Airpods Pro firmware updates have made any improvements, but what really made a difference cancelling the noise is Bose Quietcontrol 30.

I tried mine for the first time recently and was blown away. They are better than my Alpine Race ear plugs for blocking my exhaust and wind noise. Its a massive difference and my ears dont ring anymore after rides.

If you use transparency mode on air pods 2 it gives you ambient noise but filtered to smooth out loud noises etc. Might work better

3:19 That wind buffeting noise is not fun. The Bose QC20(wired) do a fantastic job in that respect.

Nice bike, what make and model? I just recently got the BMW R1250GSA and having a blast riding to and from work...I also just got the gen2 airpods to test on my Shoei NeoTec and works well if I'm not moving, but once I get to freeway speeds, all bets are off. I have the airpods pro on order and will give it a try to basically use the noise canceling features to reduce road and wind noise. Interacting and talking to siri will be secondary feature and listening to music will take a back seat for now....thanks for sharing your observations and ride safe.

Hi, is it comfortable with a helmet. And when you take your helmet off and put it on, do the AirPods Pro move or fall out?

Shabunny I tried them with four different helmets. I have two quite a snag fit Arai and you can feel AirPods rubbing against the inner padding and making crackling sound at times. Shoei and Schuberth on the other hand have more room in ear area, so no problems with comfort there. I think it really depends on the helmet you wear and shape of your head. I had to adjust AirPods every time I took the helmet on and off, because they tend to move around and not stay in place. Wearing some liner underneath the helmet helped a lot to keep AirPods in place, but that can be a solution in cold weather, not so much in hot weather.

ERV hi sir I was hoping you can saw my message and respond to me. Will you feel pain wearing these AirPod with a thigh helmet? I was using my Powerbeats pro but every time I wear on or take out my helmet it feels hell lot of pain in my ear hole ,so I was looking for a solution which is buy a AirPods Pro instead but I’m no sure if it’s the good idea

Have you tried making a phone call while riding to see if the other person can hear you clearly?

Michael Switzer Jr. Yes and they could hear me well while I was riding in the city, but on highway there was too much of a sound distortion.

Airpod pros noise cancellation only works well at slower speeds, gets louder, less effective above 35mph, the faster the worse. Siri has hard time hearing if not at a stop.

Es agrāk lietoju custom made ear plugs ar filtriem un parasto cardo speaker system - Bija ok. bet tagad esmu pārgājis uz Jabra noise cancelling ear plugs. Riktīgi labā štelle.

Aigaro Kā tev Jabra ausīs turās zem ķiveres? Trokšņus labi slāpē? No ābola austiņām es biju gaidījis labāku trokšņu slāpēšanu ☹️ Es mēģināju sony plagus, bet tie man vispār neturējās ausīs.

Actually I had reach them with my fingers under the helmet and pull them out of the ears before I was able to take the helmet off. Probably wearing some liner under your helmer will help with that, but that is no solution in hot summer.

The main question for me is - is there a way to talk with a passenger sitting behind if he has an iPhone and EarPods pro? Without calling each other because calls may be impossible in some areas? Some kind of intercom through Bluetooth or Wi-Fi? Anyone knows that???

I don't know the answer either but I do know that: Apple Watch has walkie-talkie feature built-in so perhaps if you both have iphones and apple watches and you connect them all, you can get a bluetooth intercom I guess.

Thank you, I was Just about to buy the AIR POD PRO, but after seeing this Video HELL NO. Apple is robbing us Motorcyclist! WHY DO THEY COST $249.00 AND CAN'T PERFORM WELL FOR MOTO FOLKS!!!!!

Nevin Eden What worked for me is Bose Quietcontrol 30 headphones. Really cuts the engine and wind noise. Not so much the noise that comes from the tires. But I am riding full knobbies. Maybe I do a video at some point.
