I'd say it's for weight, it reduces the structural requirements of the structures underground. Dirt is heavy and what is foam would otherwise be dirt.

Soil weighs a hell of a lot. Wet soil weighs a hell of a lot and then some!! Using construction foam means underground interiors can remain column-free.

This video shows a way more organized and clean site than what you see from the road. I drive by there every day and it looks like a mess for the most part. I saw that mound of dirt when it was taller and thought they were building a pyramid to accompany the spaceship. Tantau had been closed for about a week, I am interested to see what progress they have made in that short time.

Yes it adds context for the majority because the majority of viewers (me included) have no idea what half this stuff is. I consult with websites and people that work in construction to help me understand it all.

Great video, every one of them keeps getting better and better. I really liked how you flew the drone closer to the buildings so we could get a closer look. Couple of questions... Do you mainly do the filming on the weekends when the workers aren't there (if they leave, not sure if it is round the clock construction on that thing)? Also, have you ever had trouble from the workers when you fly your drone around them?

Is it normal to use Foam in Landscaping? I dont get why the Tunnels are covered by that huge amount of foam and just a thin layer of dirt.... or is that common practice in the US?

My guess is to create a thermal break between the hot earth/air above and likely the cool tunnel below. Same for the auditorium I would wager.

Instead of little things about the foam insulation try some details like this. Solar panels will generate 16 megawatts of power and EV charging for 1000 cars. Bloom energy cells will provide an additional 6 Meggawatts of power. Thats more power than a small coal powered generating plant.

The scale is immense, does Campus 1 shut down and everybody move to Campus 2? I know the UFO was a Jobs idea but they need a new ideas man to invent new products to wow us again. That tunnel and construction foam was crazy, real life minecraft view.

Its a weird world there. The real estate is just astronomical around that new campus. I just looked and at the price of a basic 4br rancher that was built in 1959. It's listed price is $1.3 million. Senior level engineers at Apple make $150k-$235k according to Glassdoor(thats with bonus/stocks). That still seems very low for the area.

I don't like Apple because of their need to invent their own separate standards for everything. I have to admit, though, that this HQ is mighty impressive. I wouldn't wanna be the one to vacuum the floors though!
