I really dig my card. I knew I used Apple Pay a lot and I liked the 3% rewards but people kept advising everyone to get the citi double rewards. Ended up getting both but i got more rewards using my Apple Card at Apple and I go out of my way to use Apple Pay where possible..... The rewards were “instant” and I got enough to pay for half of AppleCare+ for my iPhone 11. 🤷‍♂️

I’ve been using my Apple Card for almost 2 months. I use it mainly for Uber and Uber eats. I was shocked to see the amount of money I spend monthly on just those two things alone. Wow. Made me re-evaluate my spend. Definitely love the cash back, makes it sting a little less. 😂

I texted Apple about this, and the response I got is that they are working on setting up the reporting. It also says that when the credit bureau report functionality is set up, customers' past and current payment history will be reported to credit bureaus. It's odd that they didn't write out the reporting before releasing the card.

How about adding Best Buy to the 3%. They sell Apple products. The rewards if peanuts but it beats nothing on stuff you are going to buy anyway. If you don't pay it off every month the interest charges will totally wipe out what rewards you get. I got my Apple card last week and my rate is around 17% with an 800 credit score

Good summary. But remember the number *IS* on your card, in the magnetic strip. The card is still vulnerable to skimming, which is the #1 threat vector for offline card number theft.
@GregsGadgets

True good point. The only thing I would add is that the card number can be instantly replaced, but yes you would need a new physical Apple Card.
@WhittyPics
@WhittyPics 4 года назад
If you look in your wallet app the physical card has a different number than the number you use online. So if you lose the card just lock it and your online numbers aren't effected and vice versa if your online numbers are compromised. If you use Apple Pay the transaction numbers will change every time and it is a lot more secure that way

@techinrl9869

The rate is changing because of the overall decline in US interest rates. It really doesn't have anything to do with spending habits or payment habits. My interest rate started out at 12.99%. It has dropped by the same amount as yours down to 12.74%. I haven't used the card that much, having spent around $1,800 total and paying off the statement amount each month for no interest charges.

That’s cool I didn’t know about the new merchants in the 3% cash back. I’m a little upset that my physical card already got fraud on it. Even though the physical card never left my wallet. It was used at a BJ wholesale store in my hometown. The only thing is, is there’s no BJ wholesale in my town. The nearest one is over 45 minutes away. So Weird and such a hassle dealing with it.
@GregsGadgets

The Apple Card is soon coming to the UK, and looks very interesting. However, I have been using the same Visa credit-card, for nearly 20 years, because it is issued by my on-line bank. I have always paid my full balance, monthly, and never incurred any interest. This has been facilitated by setting up a direct-debit from the card account to my current account. It sounds as if this would not be possible with an Apple-card. Am I correct ? Thanks for another very detailed, and informative review.

Love my Apple Card. Best feature is being able to pay immediately after clearing. The second best feature is the support. Being able to text directly is so much nicer than endless prompts on the phone. Not the best rewards. Needs more partners but very good way to manage your finances. Wish the Apple Charges would show more detail (iCloud, movie rentals, subscription charge) Apple charges should be more descriptive. Other than that, I really like it so far. Get Channel. I received mine on the 8th of August and I have to agree with the points you made, but you reminding me that it is a variable rate did prompt me to check my current interest rate and it did drop from 17.99% to 17.74% This makes the card even more of a motivator to keep my FICO high. Because the physical card only yields 1% cash back, its still in the cardboard folio it was shipped in, leaving me only with using ApplePay which has worked out because I am a heavy user of both Uber and UberEats. So far it seems Apple may have opened up a whole new market that no one really saw coming.

@@F1Swiftie , I buy gas at Sam Clubs, and unfortunately that’s one of the few places that doesn’t take Apple Pay. I need to do some calculations to see I would make enough cash back to use AP at a supporting gas station. And yep, AP on my Apple Watch is also a huge plus. A week after I got my Apple Card I made an early payment and it dropped my APR to 12.74% after being at the 23.99% like it was when I first got it. I'm 18 and this is my first ever credit card, not just first unsecured card, my first ever. They only gave me a $250 limit but I don't get to spend much money anyhow. I think you just need to make your first payment and it'll drop your APR like crazy.

I was able to get this card, for some reason I was denied the first time, then i immediately reapplied and was approved. I have never had a credit card and have no credit that I’m aware of, so this will be my first. I was only approved for a $250 limit, which I’m totally okay with seeing how I only have it to build credit. I chose the Apple Card because I liked that you can pay on it throughout the month instead of having to wait for your statement, I also liked that you pay right from your phone. I didn’t choose this card because of the cash back, honestly what they offer sucks... Oooh ¢1 for every dollar spent!! (sarcasm). I chose this card for the ease of use.

@GregsGadgets
@GregsGadgets 4 года назад
Any reasons why?
@Technoid10
@Technoid10 4 года назад
@@GregsGadgets two reasons, I just left iPhone to try android so if I had gotten this card it would have forced me to stay with iPhone since there is no wallet app on android and no way to use Apple Pay on android so that is one. The next reason is just that the hype is all about the cash back. Yes its better than most other banks but the psychology behind this perk is just to keep me spending money. 3% is nice but its mainly for apple items and other programs that hopefully they extend to. But the problem I have is it mainly requires you to buy apple products to get the most cash back and even then its not really worth it for me. Like for example, if I was to buy a 1299 MacBook Pro with the Apple Card, I would get back I believe 38.97 back. Now if I needed that laptop its fine but the problem is I'm not buying a product I need vs a want. So in reality to get the most out of the card you would have to buy apple products and I just don't often buy apple products. That said if I was to get this card it would be for only apple products but even then I upgrade iPhones every 3-4 years, Mac when they stop supporting the model I have, iPad when it reaches its last iOS cycle and anything else if they break. But even then I don't go to apple I buy at Best Buy. So overall, while I think this card is very good for apple users, I would say all the reasons above, for me, its not worth it in my opinion. But if you disagree or have another way of seeing it vs I do I'd love to hear it.
@zxcvbnmmasdfghjkl
@zxcvbnmmasdfghjkl 4 года назад
Agreed on not being sold on it. Unless you are constantly using apple, it’s not worth it. You get 4% back on dinning with Uber card and 3% on travel, other cards give you 2% flat on everything. So again unless it’s use is unique to apple, not that good of value prop

GregsGadgets 2% on category spend (which, considering Apple Pay is not even close to universal, is what this is) is not good at all considering that the Citi Double Cash gives 2% on everything. Ultimately, the problem is that the double cash has set the standard for a free cash back card and the rewards on the Apple Card do not measure up unless you spend a ton in the 3% category. The 3% categories are still pretty narrow and very few people are going to get higher expected value from the Apple Card compared to competitor cash back cards. Really the only valid reason to go with the Apple Card (unless, again, you’re regularly buying a ton from Apple for some reason) is that you highly value the interface or the physical product.

I'm still pretty miffed that there hasn't been any word on when this will be launching in other countries. I still say that Canada is a prime country for this card to launch in. We have greater adoption of NFC style pay systems, it's actually true that there are more people using Apple Pay and more merchants accepting Apple Pay in brick & morter stores in Canada than there are in the U.S.. And yet we still don't have Apple Pay Cash (which will be required for the Apple Card to even function here). I really want this credit card linked up to my Apple Music & to have before my hubby & I visit Disney World for Galaxy's Edge in Feb 2020. That no international fee perk would be very helpful for that trip, especially for all the merch we plan on getting on Batuu.

If you don't pay it off in full monthly, then that's quite the opposite. Not to mention if it's a partner company then Apple is the one making more off you than you're making in cash back because of their incentives and/or transaction fees the merchants pay.

I think you're really overselling this card. 1% cashback when using the physical card is absolutely dismal. 2% back on apple pay is limiting and most cards offer between 1.5% and 2% cashback (ie citi doublecash). You'll get that flat cash back regardless of apple pay or not. The 3% back on select stores is okay but honestly is beat by any revolving category cards. Most cards now allow you to access your rewards cash if as soon as the transaction posts. The APR rate is about standard and fluctuates with prime. You literally can't even add an authorized user to this card. What kind of 1980s bullshit is this. The biggest downside of this card is that it will not integrate with any budgeting applications. Absolutely ridiculous there isn't out of the box support for mint. 4/10 stars, pretty doo-doo.

Good review. I've had the card since I was first invited. I very much enjoy it, despite being someone who is against a credit card and ever only had one, barely using it in the past. I would really like to see Apple partner(?) with more places to offer 3% back. That would really excite me and be worthwhile in everyday spending, Changing where I'd likely buy something. Finding places that take Apple pay is less painless then when I used it years ago via a debit card. But it's still not widely accepted. And even the places that do have it, they often don't train their workers to know how it should work in drive thru's. ALL Mcdonald's accept Applepay, But many cashiers don't want to hold out the reader so I can use my watch or phone. They want to TAKE my phone, And that's not happening. Not to mention the size of these readers, They need something smaller - hand held that a cashier can quickly and easily hold out the window to the driver. This I've found has been the most annoying part of using Apple Pay, where in many cases I've just paid out cash due to the hassle. Outside of those two things, I've been very happy with it. Support has always been quick and helpful. And I do love the idea and feeling of not needing to pull out my wallet all the time. But it will be a few more years before I can fully trust leaving my home without cash or a card.
@Detectivericharddickers
@Detectivericharddickers 4 года назад
Naviss so your main problem is that you want people that work as cashiers in fast food places to improve on using the smart reader ?
@Naviss
@Naviss 4 года назад
@@Detectivericharddickers I'd like for them to at least know what it is. Many times I ask if they accept Apple pay they don't know what it is or how it works in general. All McDonalds accepts Apple pay, Yet only a few people I've found so far know what it is when I say I'll pay with it. So I have to explain how it works, IE: Hand me the reader to then just try my luck if it works or not. But most places in fast food, At the window want to take your phone to try and pay with it. I don't like this! Handing someone a $1,000+ phone to drop isn't something I want to do. And I don't blame the workers for that, I blame the company for not giving workers a smaller device that is smaller, lighter and more hand held then trying to move a huge card reader and hold it out the drive thru windows.
