Apple Carplay and Android Auto Activation on Renault R-Link2 System.
Here's the video on how to activate Apple Carplay and Android Auto on the Renault R-Link 2 systems.
This procedure will work only on R-Link 2 system version 3.3.x . . unfortunately it will not work on previous versions!

I have used your method to install it but sometimes it wouldn’t connect at all. Keeps showing me message “Device Connecting “ and then never connect . Then every time I have to reset the multimedia then it works for sometime and then I have to do the same thing. Any clue how to fix this ?

Hey I have a problem with my R-Link 2 The problem is that my screen rotated 90 degrees when I was using the ELM327 interface and the ddt4all program. Thanks man. It worked. I have a Koleos 2018. Rlink2 ver 3.3. Followed step by step. I used a Bluetooth obd2 cheap device.

Thank you for the video I did all steps on my 2018 Talisman with version 3.3 and all went OK and I have now smartphone mirroring option on the menu but the problem every time I try connecting my iPhone to any of the 2 ports it keeps disconnecting and connecting endlessly and not able to launch CarPlay any thoughts will be much appreciated … Thanks

You probably have to change the usb rack. If your car is not CarPlay fitted by default you have an usb rack that delivers 500mA, but CarPlay requires 750mA to work. So, to make it work you have to change the usb ports. It’s plug and play and you will find online the part with not much money. Original part will cost more than 100€ 😅

THANKS!!! This worked for my Renault Scenic IV from mid-2017. My SF-version is 7.0.24.166 (with boot-version 5615) and no idea of its update history. During connection I see the following message "Found ECU [Audio] (not perfect match) :RadNav 2.X v2.5 DIAGVERSION [00] SUPPLIER [CAP] SOFT [70] VERSION [24166 instead 23906]" and thought Apple Carplay would not work, but it does work. My USB-connection box is 280238352R and looks correct for Apple Carplay to work.

Hi Joseph! if your car is not fitted with Carplay you have to change also the USB hub, because the original one that does not supports Carplay is 500mA, then you need the one is made for Carplay, which supports 1A; talk to your dealer or find it used on eBay

Hello Michele, I've been testing for a while with my S7 Edge, the Android Auto I unlocked, with my R-Link2, 7-inch display. Spotify, Message via Whatsapp / SMS, Calls, Hey Google work without problems. Google Maps works until the destination. As soon as you reach your destination, the R-Link crashes with Cyrillic characters and a black screen. Then I have to turn it off and on again and everything is fine again. Furthermore, I can control Android Auto only via touch screen. The next song in Spotify, I can not control by steering wheel remote control. I have also tested it with the smartphone OPPO Realme 3 Pro and the R-Link behaves in all points as well as with the S7 Edge. Does something have to be activated? Or is my hardware not compatible (small memory). Amazing that the navigation runs absolutely smoothly to the destination. I'm not sure what to do now. Hello Michele, A hard reset of the R-Link has fixed the problem. Google Maps now runs without any problems. ;-)

ciao! intanto se hai r-link 2.2 anche se li hai attivati non funzioneranno mai; in caso tu avessi dal 3.3 in su cerca di usare i cavi android e apple originali per farli funzionare. altrimenti non vanno. App mirroring la devi comunque scaricare da play store, altrimenti non funziona!

hello @MicheleP, do i need to upgrade my usb ports on a 2016 megane iv (its running the 7.x updated firmware version in the 2.x hardware)? i can run the android auto but it is very glitchy. Like, when i select a route, nothing happens and i get a toast saying the navigation has stopped. Or if the phone screen is off, the map freezes...

Hi Michele, Really great videos. I Just viewed your video for activating android auto on renault kadja, unfortunately my son pressed the wrong screen format size and after rebooting screen it went blank. How can we reverse this? We can go into developer mode and reset screen size but after shut down and reboot it goes back to high resolution. Sorry we didn't view your video prior to causing the fault.

Ciao Michele, seguo ormai da qualche tempo i tuoi video ho acquistato una porta obd2 WI fi elm 327 ma quando con ddt4all vado a fare le modifiche da te indicate la porta si disconnette.... In piu premendo a lungo il pulsante start/stop della mia megane 4 non appare la dicitura pulsante premuto a lungo. Mi potresti aiutare per favore? Grazie mille

allora: 1) per far apparire la scritta pressione lunga su start devi essere con la marcia inserita 2) prova a disinstallare e reinstallare DDT4ALL, a volte capita, e inoltre una volta reinstallato aumenta il timeout CAN (lo trovi in basso al centro), metti circa 1000ms

Complimenti, anche da parte mia,. Sicuramente avere la possibilità di seguire un tutorial in italiano per chi non ferratissimo in inglese, potrebbe essere utilissimo e fugare tutti i dubbi che nascono da possibili diverse interpretazioni. In ogni caso ti faccio una domanda, recentemente la casa madre ha aggiornato durante il tagliando sulla mia Vettura (06/2017), il sistema da 2.2.19.300 all'ultimo 7.0.24.166. Tu pensi sia quindi possibile fare la stessa procedura, visto che in Officina mi hanno detto che per funzionare AA sul mia vettura c'è bisogno di un implementazione Hardware e non Softwere ? Ed infine, è vero che attivando AA con questa procedura si perdono i controlli Vocali nativi di Renault su RLINK 2 ? Grazie mille

Un altra domanda, prendendo spunto da quello che ho letto anche prima, ... ma nel mio caso : Versione nativa R-Link 2.2.19.300 aggiornata al 7.0.24.166 , in caso di modifica, quale "configurazione RadNav" devo scegliere ? La 2.x.x ..... oppure l'ultima versione della 3.x.x. in quanto la 7.x.x non è presente ?

allora in questo caso devi scegliere la 2.2 perchè il tuo sistema ha l'hardware della versione 2.2

esato, in questo caso puoi attivare anche android auto, ma ci sono anche un po' di passaggi in più da fare (Siccome hai la 2.2)

In quella scheda non basta attivare Android Auto e Carpaly ma devi anche attivare SPVR (per il riconoscimento dell’assistente vocale del tel) - Poi devi controllare anche che: Wifi e RES non presenti Screen orientation su Portrait se hai schermo da 8,7” e Landscape se è da 7” LKA non presente (tranne scenic) LDW audio (tranne che scenic) Embedded VR attivato (assistente vocale Renault)

Hi Michele, I drive a 2017 Kadjar 1.6 Dci with the R-link 2 in South Africa. I'm really annoyed with Renault SA because they are unable to get my Tom Tom GPS traffic to work. What I mean is that the R-Link 2 cannot connect with the phone data through Bluetooth, so it cannot get Internet connection. I cannot even connect to the R-Link store or anything. Is there a way you can help me to activate this? They even changed my radio under warranty but it made no difference. They obviously don't know what they are doing. Please help me, I am willing to pay for your help. Thank you.

It’s easy man. As I said in many videos this will work only from version 3.3 and above. I suggest you to upgrade to v3 or v7. You will have Android auto, but no CarPlay because CarPlay works from version 3.3 NATIVE

No, ma la puoi forzare tu in marcia lasciando la vettura in 3° marcia a circa 80-90km/h per una decina di minuti

Nope, the modified OBD2 is for some clusters into audio section, so no worries!

unfortunately you cannot activate CarPlay with 2.2.19 version ;( you miss an internal hardware component.

Hi Michele i have a 2016 Grand Scenic and on system info it say 3.3.15.416. I dont know about the rad nav and where to find it . All I see is Navigation information 9.12.105.648280. What do I choose when going to ddt4all?

Has anyone manage to unlock android auto on grand scenic 4 2016 Software 3.3.15.411 rad nav 2.2? I was able to follow the instructions even succesfully activating the android auto on DDL2 but when I connected my phone nothing happens just charging. I even use debuug mode on my phone and tried another cable. Also there is no android auto icon on R Link but only a 5 pages instruction of screen mirroring. I tried going to Renault dealer but they say its got the latest version. Any thoughts?

NOT possible. native 2.2 will NEVER have carplay, because there's an additional hardware part that native 2.2 doesn't have. only native 3.3 and above cah have CarPlay

Hello! Im looking to a buy a used Megane and want to be sure what model I can buy with Android Audio. As far as I understand, if I have Android, I can buy a R Link 2.2 version, let a retailer upgrade it to 7.x (nothing I can do myself?), and still use Android Auto? But not Apple Carplay? That specific hardware aint needed for Android Auto? Thanks!

Hi @@MicheleP you say you are not able is there any reason? The reason why I ask is that I am unable to do it via any other way. I cannot get a different 2 DIN system compatible with carplay installed on my Espace... please if you can help it would be fantastic.
