Ive seen a couple videos where it was not great, one where it was amazing, and then one other where it was really bad at first but then they either tweaked something in the camera app or rerecorded it in the exact same way (I think it was the former) and it sounded amazing. it must be some sort of setting, when its set properly I think its amazing for anything that isnt an actual XLR mic honestly. Its already been mentioned but iPhonedo testing with a pro singer, and even in a super echoey room it did a great job!
Yes ! Having heard the audio I immediately came to the comments. Is the audio recording quality that bad ? It’s terrible !!! Apple can’t just keep telling everyone “studio quality” when it isn’t. They seem to have a history of doing this a lot with stuff. It’s just dishonest. Eg “you can shoot a movie with this” really ?!?! It’s amazing what you can do but It’s not even close to the capabilities of a proper dslr let alone a RED etc. Also - the picture quality looks super flat - like they’ve turned the contrast right down, And brightness up. It looks a bit like “log lite” mode. lol
These are paid apple chills. This is the most underwhelming phone apple has ever made and they all using words like amazing, remarkable when describing it.
@@randomghost4385it’s really not. XS and others were far more iterative. The camera features + camera control are great for photography. They also made dramatic improvements to battery life. Smartphones are a mature market. Year over year updates aren’t going to be dramatic like they used to be. But for those of us upgrading 3-4 year old devices, the iterations pile up into bigger upgrades.
I am listening to this with studio quality, over-ear headphones. Let me tell you, that audio mix is absolutely TERRIBLE! I suppose all the nautral outdoor noise may be playing a major factor. Nonethelesss, the audio mix feature used in this scenario is a massive flop. (Not the singer, but the audio mix feature itself)
Bro is saying the screen is more immersive than the 15 Pro. It’s barely noticeable, so stop trying to push the narrative of this being a dramatic difference.
Oh it is. Also, imagine coming from a regular 15 and older phones. Bezels look like a damn 2003 flat screen TV! Not everybody have a 15 Pro/Pro Max! Also, keep that same energy when the S25 comes out with its so called thinnest bezels ever! 😂
I’m an iPhone user but I feel like these reviewers could use last years review and AI edit themselves to say the new iPhone number instead and release it 😂
Man the "Audio Mix" feature sounds like a really bad version of Voice isolation. Also why are all footage of 16 pro seem to be a little bit white washed?
My 14 Pro Max can’t even get me through the day, I’m upgrading to the 16 Pro Max which is coming tomorrow and the USB C and huge battery gains along with Apple Intelligence is enough for me to upgrade.
I always use an anti-glare tempered glass screen protector so not worried about how reflective the display is. The problem with the S24U anti-glare coating/layer is that if you put tempered glass over it, you lose the anti-glare, so a wasted feature for many of us, probably 80%+ that use a screen protector.
You realise that the phones size is measured diagonally right? Aka length * width, so if the iPhone is shorter than the 6.8 inch Samsung that's because the iPhone must be wider than the Samsung
@@ms3862 I think its obvious how the screen size is measured , I have the iPhone 16 Pro max case and a Galaxy 24 ultra which is taller than the iPhone , I also have the 15 pro max and the 16 pro max isn’t any wider.
Gosh that audio mix thing on the camera sounded terrible. Just sounded like rubbish filters over decent audio. Slow mo on the camera looked good though.
@@TysonASMR I will too but it’s time for 120hz and battery life. The $150 trade in will be even worse next year so I’m forced to. But the new camera control makes it worth it too
Love the audio mix thing, the results here didn't sound good but then again, choosing to record audio from a frame on the outside is obviously difficult for the algorithm to comprehend. It will get better with time but it's definitely an awesome concept.
Seriously. My 14 pro max has begun overheating excessively to the point where it won’t charge…I’ve had this issue with other iPhones but my current one is the worst.
Is there any chance we could get some follow up on the new thermal system and if they're any different between the 16 and 16 Pro? Every iPhone, at least until this one we don't know about yet, has throttled and dimmed the display after a while in the hot sun or playing a game, and those days that are hot are usually when I have the most problems getting into the camera app and taking photos in a flash where it sometimes starts lagging.
Another reviewer here on YT gave a passing comment that the phone warmed up recording 4k video. I would have liked more information on that aspect as both my mobiles, android and Apple, keep overheating in sunny weather.
Did you all watch the video before you hit upload? The audio test sounds terrible. Also, the phone doesn't launch with Apple Intelligence. CNET apparently can't be objective about Apple, take it for what it is, entertainment.
Sounded ok for me, maybe YT compression. Certainly you can tweak it afterwards in the iMovie app to stabilise it further. But it did the job. Especially at the start where it cancelled out the guitarist.
This is the second review I’ve seen where the audio mix options sound surprisingly awful. At least here I sorta get it as it’s probably trying to remove the guitar. Strangely, the cinematic mode not shown would probably handle this scene best by placing the voice in the center with guitar on the sides.
Why is it when car companies use The same design and upgrade things inside of the car they don't receive anywhere near the amount of hate that Apple does? So most of the new iphones features are "under the hood"... Most people don't upgrade every year so it's a pretty decent upgrade for MOST people...like myself who is using the 14 pro max. Personally I'm very excited and can't wait until my 16 pro max arrives in a few days
Waiting on mine to ship from my carrier my contract was up and renewed and tend to like to stick to the even numbers every two years im due for an upgrade/renewal
@@gfyGoogle Cons of the iPhone 16 Pro Max: 1. AI software isn't on-device at launch. 2. Dynamic Island is too large compared to S24 ultra. 3. Camera AI falls short of Google Pixel. 4. Unappealing color options. 5. Glitchy, impractical camera slide button. 6. No anti-reflective screen like the S24 Ultra. 7. Samsung manufactures all the iphone displays. 8. Apple appears out of touch with its audience.
@@VADDY1 1. That’s not a con, AI features will come soon 2. Again, not a con, the Dynamic Island bothers some, most people don’t really care 3. The phone has just been launched, optimisations will come soon 4. That’s a personal opinion, I love the black and desert titanium colors, also I don’t care about my phones coming in 40 different “bright colors” 5. Software updates will optimise it soon, and it’s not glitchy as you make it sound 6. Some people prefer it, some people don’t. I like the reflective screen on my phone. 7. This is the only part that’s a little concerning since Samsung displays have been known for their crappy quality (what else can you expect from scamsung) 8. Nope, once you use the phone, you will realise that there are a lot of internal tweaks and improvements that have not been advertised. The battery life is fantastic, the heating problems are almost non-existent. And so much more.
The only reason I am considering upgrading from my iPhone 13 Pro Max to the 16 Pro Max is if it also offers the spatial video and photos mode that the 15 pro currently has. I own the Quest 3 VR headset and wish to view my 3D photos and videos after shooting them on my iPhone. Does the new iPhone 16 Pro Max have this functionality for spatial video/photos?
First, it doesn't "come with Apple intelligence". Second, that indoor bar photo looked wayyyy better on the ultra-wide lens. BTW, anyone reading this. Change the "tone" setting with the camera button to the lowest or lower and the phone will stop blowing out shadows and you'll get better highlights. This is backed up by professional photographers so def give it a try. I feel like people are just getting used to ultra-processed mobile phone camera pictures and don't get that their pics don't look very good or dynamic.
Apple Intelligence and iOS 18 (Siri in particular) are not the sole features of the iPhone 16, as they come to older devices, so there is no law saying they have to be ready by law. Much like the Pixel, the 9 was released without Android 15. It's no big deal, as sensible people want OEMs to take the time they need to get it right rather than pander to impatient teenagers.
@@JMcKey21 He was probably using the beta. I have been on Apple Intelligence for seven weeks, and it is easy to get if AI is important to you, and the beta is extremely stable.
I enjoyed your review.. the camera button is just not appealing to wanna buy it instantly.. I’m running my iPhone 15 Pro Max… forget that button give me Apple Intelligence 😂🎉❤
14 pro here -battery health stinks right now. My health is down to 81%. I know i could just get a new battery but even before that, I only seen about 7-8 hours of SOT. I heard a month ago that apple fixed the battery health issue with the 14 and 15 pro models.....any word on that being accurate???
+ Better battery +Better Camera + New button + Stronger screen + Better CPU +Better GPU So is it worth buying? Yes, a big yes if you have an older model and NOT the 15 pro, the improvements in this model are basically the same as the 15 over the 14, So if you have a iPhone 13 or older I would say its worth it big time, but not if you have a 15. I also will say the same for Samsung, I own a s24 ultra and use it as my main phone and its improvements over the 23 ultra is basically the same every year just like apple. My previous phone before my s24 ultra was iPhone 13 Pro Max, and if I had that phone today I would still upgrade to 16 pro max because of the pros mentioned above.
CNET giving this phone a higher score than the Samsung 24 Ultra, despite the main promoted feature not being available yet ... a feature the Samsung 24 Ultra rolled out with. SMH. I'm all for comparison once the full features are available, but this is silly, particularly given the recommendation to skip the upgrade unless you have an older iPhone.
Samsung AI was not ready, so they panicked and made a deal with Google to buy in Gemini AI and rebrand it for their phones as Galaxy AI. When Samsung has its own AI, come back to me for a sensible conversation.
Sony has been doing 4K 120 in S-Cinetone and HDR on ALL (not just one lens like the Apple) the lenses for several years. Apple should’ve upped it a bit and do 4K 240 fps and 2K 960 fps two second slowmo burst.
@@wouter.d.h. I've upgraded to every iteration upgrade of iPhone since the iphone 3G. I like to have the latest. Plus no worries about battery degradation. But to answer your question, I'm on the yearly update plan. I forget the name. I usually have to pay around $329.00 for previous version. Then pay the taxes on new device then I make monthly payments. I also want that new AI and i love how the bezels light up when asking Siri a question. Plus interested in the 6.9 inch screen. 📱
Yikes1: audio is terrible. Sounds like early beta software not ready for primetime. Yikes2: zoom in on the photos where objects were removed and it looks a lot less ‘convincing’ 👀
I have seen multiple other reviews that make the audio feature sound great. It does appear that over-complicated scenarios will cause issues, but for most situations, it works well.
well the standard configuration of the mic is FROM FAR the best quality... the others are really really bad... nobody is ever gonna use that exept maybe on a windy day but that's all
Android users should spend more worrying about their Android phones than worrying about iPhone users, who are eating good, cos we iPhone users ain’t worried about you Fandroids.
