This thing looks unreal.. I could see myself using this in so many different situations. I have my laptop on a pretty large desk as a main work station as well as entertainment station and I think there are many people nowadays with that setup. A regular monititor attached to that was always pretty nice but it doesnt replace my tv. This manages to reduce the amount of gadgets I need to use, which is great.
By buying more gadgets ? Lmao right that really does reduce the amount of gadgets you need to use . By buying a second monitor for a device that already has a monitor 😂
@@JDM4EVR Laptop monitors obviously are a lot smaller , and most of the time they aren't as good as a standalone monitor. Having a portable workstation that you can carry anywhere and a multipurpose monitor-tv hybrid definitely SAVES alot of money instead of buying a pc, a monitor, a tv, and a creator level laptop that had a great display for outdoor use.
Buy any samsung smart tv, it does the same without the webcam part. I really don't understand this. I use my Samsung TV with airplay, it has built in Netflix, browser etc., I can use my phone/tablet as a mouse + keyboard. I don't understand what's new. Someone please explain. Also I had a pendrive in my router to watch movies from there, but it's easier to use plex if you don't need 4K...
@@eyeles I get what you're saying but it's the same reason some (not all) people don't buy a PC monitor to use as a TV or a TV to use as a PC monitor, it's the little things. Like a TV usually doesn't include a web cam. Sure you can buy an external web cam and hook you computer up to your TV and plug it into the USB port but this magnetic detachable design is just more streamlined. Unlike most PC monitors this comes with a TV remote. It's lighter and more portable than most TV sets. It has a matte finish whereas most TV's come with a glossy finish. Matte finish is usually reserved for PC monitors. It has built-in voice assistant which most PC monitors don't have. It has preinstalled video conferencing software that a PC monitor or TV don't have. It's basically a TV/PC monitor/Computer all in one. Straight from their website, these are things you can't do on a Television set without plugging it into a computer: "Experience PC-less. Browse the web, edit documents and work on projects, all without the need for a separate PC. With new Workmode, you can also remotely access another PC, use Microsoft 365 programs and even connect to Samsung mobile devices with Samsung DeX for seamless working".
@@tashaanthompson6092 well I don't think that's the demographic they're targeting with this product, with its functionality I think the price is reasonable.
@@knightofwind2929 depends on your need. Since you usually watch tvs from further away, they can get away with lower resolutions. TVs also usually don't support many monitor specific standards like display port, usb-c power delivery, low response times, high refresh rate and so on. All of that is basically unnecessary on a TV, but may be useful on a monitor.
@@knightofwind2929 I tried a 4k 32 inch TV as a monitor and it was horrendous with the PPi. Excel was unusable. This monitor is crystal clear for both fine lines on excel and Netflix.
@@mariiiioh others are saying the color accuracy isn't good. I mostly only use my monitor for work, browsing. Browsing includes everything so, I want to have good viewing experience with RU-vid, streaming. Don't know what to pick. I'm okay with higher priced models
@@mariiiioh It says 4k monitor but that only for cable input and video streaming, however, it only has 1080p when connect wirelessly, remote desktop in both VNC and RDP. the colour accuracy is below average, Of course it has no issue if your standard is just it can display.
samsung is currently accused to fake the colours on QOLED where they try to fool all experts and users to think the panel tech is good. The experts get accurate colour on industry standardised test window sizes where the TV switches to the accurate mode and in normal use it boosts colours where creators intend gets so far off the intention so that unhighlighted objects are now in the frontground. It is sad because THIS uses Filmmakermode. I can not wait for 42" inch OLEDS but own a 48" and pixels are invisible from an arms lenght
When you think about how slim and fanless the MacBook Air is. Then you set this monitor next to the iMac. I can’t help but wonder why apple didn’t make the iMac exactly like this monitor and just slap the base of a MacBook Air on the back. You could call me an apple “sheep” (more of a fan of their products I recognize when they mess up) but since the introduction of the new iMac I knew it wasn’t it. It seems like every decision about the iMac was the wrong one. The chin, the colors they choose to offer, the white bezels, the size, and the fact it’s not high adjustable. I can buy this monitor and a Mac mini for about the same price if not cheaper then the iMac. And don’t even get me started on new studio display and computer.
I don't understand, I have a large samsung TV with nearly the same remote, menus and everything. This is just a 32" TV with bs marketing and a webcam... I use airplay many times, I use the built in browser, so I have absolutely no clue what's the innovation here. And
Love the look, size, and functionality of this monitor! I picked up the Dell U4320Q for the same price. The only reason I didn't get the M8 is: it wasn't out. Bummer. Still, no complaints. I love my Dell. Glad there are options out there that doesn't force one to get the puny, overpriced Studio Display, even if it's 5K. Were the latter 32" I MIGHT'VE been tempted. Anyway, thanks for the great review!
Gotta say the price of the M8 is very compelling - 700 bucks for 4K 32 inch is a good deal. I love that you don't need a cable to use the display with a Macbook.
@@blueversace4447 monitors have different display types to cater for text on a computer screen. Also, some people don't have alot of space/dont want for that size of a TV. It is good that they both co-exist so people can get what suits themselves best.
@@GC9exe the LG’s display 4:4:4 chrome just fine with their PC mode. Yes you have a point about size, but that doesn’t make this display not overpriced.
nah it's technically the same with M7 with additoinal 100nits and it's VA don't get me wrong VA has way better contras its just that when you use this you will see color shift on each corner or when you look at it on an angle. i tried side by side with IPS and its nowhere close in color vibrancy. If samsung implement quantum dot film to improve on color and viewing angle. 32 inch VA panel is not good but will be a great choice for 27 inch as there is less for viewing angle on 3 feet viewing distance
I'm impressed. I would get this over the Studio Display if only the screen was more color accurate, pixel dense and brighter. It's pretty perfect for college students. They should make the same thing but with the features I just mentioned.
Samsung : stuffs everything into one package and still prices it reasonably Apple : lotta money for the monitor, and even more money for the stand, the cable, and a piece of cloth
You know what? They could've probably gotten away with doing a camera module similar to this one on their biggest tab 8 whatever it's called. Better than the notch.
Great review, but you forgot to talk about the display quality, viewing angles, what type of panel used, etc. We expect to know about these things especially if you're reviewing a monitor.
If they are still selling the Samsung M7 monitor, I think thats an even better value. I bought the M7 4k 32 inch smart monitor last march and have been really happy with it. Aside from the fresh new colours, height adjustable stand and the addition of a removable webcam, I dont see much that is different. And I think I paid close to half the cost for that 32 inch monitor. This one is nice for sure, but if you're not 100% sold on the design and look, a M7 might be a better fit for you.
I would really like to see this concept implemented on a 120hz 4k 49” ultra wide. If it had Google assistant or was made by a brand other than Samsung it would be even better yet.
Sadly, I'm closing my store next month. But this monitor just like that is exactly what I would like to put on the wall to show pictures of my products and what not, and then mirror my display to the costumers so that they can see they order as I make it. That pink color is also perfectly in brand for me. I absolutely love this, and would totally buy it if I wasn't closing
Been using the Samsung Monitor M8 myself, love all the products of Samsung. Love from South Korea🇰🇷🇰🇷. I would definitely recommend this to others, user experience is great and the attachable camera is greattt. That’s why I love using Samsung Products
VESA compatibily would've been so nice. Also I might prefer IPS panel, and much better speakers, potentially higher refresh rate anything above 60hz. I would've paid extra $100 for all of these. I don't think I'm asking too much 🤗
This is perfect, but they should do other dimensions as well. I actually work on a 49" tv-screen, but having a 49" screen-tv as this one, adjustable and with the camera, oh my! But 32" for a tv are too little.
@@SlamboSVV using it mostly as a smart TV at the moment and it works so nice as that. Can't really say how it fairs as a computer seeing as I have yet to by the things that would make it run as a computer😅.
A lot of the reviewers are like that. They are all apple fanboys. They talk about Samsung products with little enthusiasm. But deep down they know the product is awesome. They would be livid with excitement if it was apple to came out with this. They secretly wish apple had all these features in their studio display 🤣
As an apple user slowly transitioning away from it but still looking for that Apple “look”, I ordered this so quickly I can’t wait till it comes in. Unfortunately my first shipment came with a scuffed display frame so I had to send it back. Very inconvenient but Samsung worked with me as best as I could and got it picked up from my home by fed ex. Hopefully nothing will go wrong for the next shipment and I can try this out.
I've been running a 32" Samsung as my main display for a couple of years and I would never go smaller any more. 32 is not a massive monitor in practice but it gives you flexibility to sit back and enjoy content.
Wait, I have a type c port on my Samsung laptop, this would work perfectly for it since it’s a 13 inch laptop, ima definitely get this once I get the money😁
18:54 - What’s the point? The led will tell you if the cam is powered. There is no programmable way to switch off the led because it’s part of the cam’s power circuit on macs.
This is a perfect example of Apple and Samsung playing fair. Apple could have done this with their new monitor but either chose not to or Samsung told them they had to wait so samsung could sell their stuff easier. If I remember right the Apple monitor was 5k not 4k so comparing these two makes sense but really is not fair. The xdr is 32 inches but way more but 8k panels are also outrageous and the cheap ones look like 20hz which makes it a nice picture frame. 4K panels are way cheaper to manufacture. It’s nice seeing Apple and Samsung getting along!
this samsung monitor is absolute garbage like all Pc monitors, they all are worse then even a 20 years old Apple Monitor for the simple reason that they use that stupid "anti glare" coating which ruins every stat they oh so much like to talk about... it's meaningless when you ruin it with this nonsense antiglare. a glaring clean glass is night and day bettery than any refresh rate, color accuracy, brightness, resolution, you name it. it is all just marketing nonsense. and the stand is a joke, but thats a always a given aswell. so bad, not even funny
I have been looking at this monitor for weeks now and it would be a nice addition to my desk, that it has airplay is also a plus. If I were to use it with my MacBook Pro 16" there are view options I can think of that would be helpful as I use an older 32" LG monitor. But do I really need the TV stuff in there is the bigger question. Also this screen is non reflective, compared to the M7 that is a bonus. The M7 does however have a USB hub and is being dumped on the market (CAD $450 - 500). If this M8 had an HDMI 2.1 and could display my consoles at 120Hz it would be a game changer (literally).
last imac pixel dimension = 5120 x 2880 (if you want to compare) This monitor = 3,840 x 2,160 More pixels, sharper image. However, not to bad for $700 bucks.
Lew this is awesome what we need is just an awesome monitor at this affordable price where Samsung created this monitor keeping in mind for every aspects the user wants to use this. The tilt, remote control, smart tv feature with smart mirroring and obviously innovative magnetic webcam module which every brand must introduce from now on. Do bring this kind of videos more.
Damn.... Samsung took the concept design everyone thought the new Imac/Display would look like and just made it to sell to annoyed apple users lol! Very clever!
would be great if it has picture in picture like old samsungs. Hooking up a pc and play some chill games like Before we Leave and watch in a smaller picture Netflix
If you want a TV this is fine, but if you care about pixel density or color you really should avoid VA and get an IPS panel. LG ultrafine ($500) are a great alternative for people that don't want to purchase something high-end like an Apple Studio Display ($1500).
If anyone doesn't have enough money but still wants a 32-inch smart TV & monitor 2-in-one - I highly recommend SAMSUNG S32AM700U. I bought it 6 months ago and it's definitely one of the best price-to-quality purchases in my life. The monitor has everything you need and it's like 2x lower price.
