Can the same two knobs on your external keyboard be used to control other track synthesizers? Without triggering changes in your first synth assignment? In other words, will the knobs only control the active synth track, and not work in the background on in-active tracks? Also, can there be global assignments?
@soundformore
@soundformore Год назад
No you cannot do that yet in Logic Pro, I hope Global Assignments with other missing features on Midi will come soon…

Great workaround, thanks for sharing this. Although Apple have definitely pulled a magic trick getting users to pay a yearly subscription for software with less features than the desktop version. I hope updates come much quicker from here on.

@@soundformore also would be interesting how to learn play and stop buttons.
@lince4824
@lince4824 3 месяца назад
@@RomanAntonian Play and Stop buttons are so called "Transport" buttons, and they behave different, as they don't send standard MIDI messages, but usually some other kind of Control messages specific for Control Surfaces, i.e. Mixing Consoles, and usually there's some kind of compatibility at least in the Mac version, where you have to select both on your device and your computer the way they should behave. Most controllers have specific configuration setting for "Logic Pro", but usually there's also a compatible format used in the now standard "Mackie Control Unit (MCU)" protocol. I don't know if it works on Logic for iPad though, as it would be a shame if it doesn't.

It sucks that you can only add 8 modifiers- my Torso T-1 has 18 midi cc knobs, I can only add 8 modifiers though. Wish there was a modifier that could handle more than one MidiCC connection at a time… or wish I could write my own script and import it… but no

I like having a separate plugin instance to see what controllers have you assigned to any specific track and sound, because usually I would MIDI learn different instrument parameters for different patches, but I'd like them not to be limited to 8, and I'd like to have them all in just one block and not cluttering the whole user interface.

Thank you very much. It's a pity some other RU-vid channels mislead all of us telling there's no MIDI Learn in Logic Pro for iPad when even the RU-vid channel name is specific to Logic Pro for iPad ("The Guide"). I just unsubscribed from the other RU-vid channel, no more misleading.

@@soundformore yeah I was thinking would be nice to be able to save them as presets for each synth
@soundformore

Ah ok, you have to save the project for that as presets are for synth not each plugin… nice idea though…
@brianwilliams4686

you can save it as a patch, when you drag the patch onto timeline later it will include the instrument you had as well as all the modifiers

Its not extremely simple, it doesnt work. I have an Oxi One, I set CCs to the mod knobs in AUM and in Loopy Pro and in Drambo. Those are simple, set the channel, push learn, twist the knob. Thats simple. This is not simple, im following your instructions exactly, except the knob doesn’t turn. The only difference between what youre doing and what im doing is im using an auv3 instrument. Is there a difference for using an external controller with auv3? Im extremely frustrated. I chose a general purpose cc 16 as the input event, then I use learn midi parameter for the output event, choose the cutoff filter and it changes the output event to the cutoff filter. But the encoder mapped to cc 16 doesnt turn it. Why?
@soundformore
@soundformore 5 месяцев назад
What AUv3 are you using?
@jospehbloseph7172
@jospehbloseph7172 5 месяцев назад
@@soundformore I tested with Mariana, DLYM, Zeeon and more. In AUM, Drambo, or Loopy, I can use the mod lanes of my oxi one or knobs in my faderfox to turn any knobs on any apps or effects on that channel. Turns out Logic Pro doesn’t do that. That’s a real disappointment, and a dealbreaker sadly. Your videos are great and I have learned so much from them. In this case your tutorial is more of a workaround. A great one, but doesn’t work on mine. I can even see the blue IN light light up when I turn the dials, but nothing turns. 🤷🏼‍♂️

@jospehbloseph7172 unfortunately the midi implementation in Logic Pro for iPad is not the best; i tried to help where I could. I hope the newer version coming shortly is better otherwise in my view more people will cancel their subscription… Apple did not do many updates either in my view in one year…

I wonder if you have to Enable MIDI messages on the instrument settings inside Logic Pro for iPad ??? May be they default to Disable MIDI Control Messages. May be you need to look for settings in Moog Mariana for example, enable it, and save settings as Default, so you won't need to do it again (unless you reinstall I guess). May be you already did that step under Drambo and AUM and forgot about it? Or may be under Logic Pro the default settings are stored in a different path/memory storage? I have no iPad capable of using Logic to test it... 😠
