Apple Mouse Disconnecting All The Time (How To Fix It)

Thank you, that was very helpful. I had the same problem with my magic trackpad. The original 1st one, so I thought it was dying. It kept connecting for only a few secs and disconnecting without the ability to move the cursor. Did the reset BT option and now it's working again. Thx!

This video actually made a lot of sense. My AirPods Pro kept on getting disconnected and the solution that Apple Support gave me was to reset it. I wasn’t aware of the Shift+Option combo. Hopefully this works. In addition, I did a reset on the bluetooth module itself.

For me - the following steps worked - Connect the Lightning cable Connect your wireless accessory to your Mac with the Lightning to USB cable or USB-C to Lightning cable, wait one minute, then disconnect the cable. This pairs the accessory with your Mac and charges the built-in battery. To check your accessory's charge level, click the Control Centre icon in the menu bar, then click Bluetooth.

The shift option key hold down for the debugging menu does not work on Mac OS Ventura 13.0. Does NOT open a debugging menu.

Thanks! The first debug option solved my problem. Was driving me nuts. I heard it was a battery compartment issue on another video and that worked for one of my mice (that was having this problem) but another one was constantly disconnecting/reconnecting (even after using that battery compartment "fix") and this solution worked (so far) for that mouse.

Do you know how to trigger the debug options on macOS Big Sur?

Selected Factory Reset and it worked fine for a single day then back to intermittent connection lost nightmare again. Maybe I need a different spell for this Magic Mouse

Comp keeps on displaying ' Attempting to connect with mouse' and 'No wireless mouse or trackpads have been found. Make sure that your wireless mouse or trackpads is 'discoverable'. Loaned my apple mac to some for 18 months and need it for September. Cannot get further than this. Any suggestions?

I used the factory reset option for all bluetooth devices. Then all you have to do is plug your mouse and keyboard into a lightning cable for only a moment and they both work fine.

How can you open or click on anything if the mouse doesnt work?!

Not a Bluetooth issue for me- loose batteries. Fixed by jamming in some folded tin foil between batteries and the spring loaded terminals.

Dude the mouse is not working how can I even go to system preference with keyboard?

None of this worked for me. I have gone through every test and sequence of steps to solve this issue and nothing has worked. I have tried unplugging all USB devices. There is no wifi signal or router near me. I have explored the debug menu. I have tried removing it as a device and starting over. The damn thing just connects when it wants to. There is absolutely no rhyme or reason to it. And with no car and no near Apple Store I don't really have the option of taking it in to get looked at. Apple could have avoided this issue by placing the lightning port on the front of the device so it could be used while plugged in - you know, like the keyboard that accompanies it.

Soooo, how do we do this without a mouse..

i hate my magic mouse. i've been plunking batteries into plastic junk since i was probably 1 year old with no problem whatsoever. it's a HARDWARE issue where i'm forced to wad up bits of aluminum foil so the contacts will work, giving their "magic mouse" the aspect of a cheap 1970's rabbit-ears television. leave it to Apple to mess up something so rudimentary. and now they have plans to re-engineer society. Magic.

None of the above works! I've tried everything. I have had problems since about 6 months back, when I bought a new USB-rechargable Bluetooth mouse Apple original called Magic Mouse. As well as the keyboard reconnects and disconnects for like 15 seconds, works for 15 seconds and then disconnects automatically for 15 seconds. Tried resetting the n-ram, turned off bluetooth and on again, remove plist files yada yada. Fully charged, brand new fresh and "post" brand batteries etc... Now here comes the catch, and weirdness: Moved the lot, Macbook Proc, plus keyboard plus mouse into another room, way beyond 10 meters from the first room. And then started it up there, and had the same distance between bluetooth keyboard and mouse and connected to a large screen monitor, to view the bluetooth panel when it's opened for the disconnected and connected messages. Went on for like 5-6 hours without a hatch. Mind you, it's even if I am not moving the keyboard or mouse. It didn't disconnect even once, started up other things in the vincinity, etc etc. No problem, used the keyboard and mouse a lot, nothing close to disconnect happened. So conclusion: Not the MacBook Pro, not the magic mouse nor the keyboard. Not the Os (catalina by the way). Now, moved it back to original living room, and saw that Bluetooth automatically detects everything in the vincinity which includes NEIGHBORS television sets, xboxes, remote controls, and computers. Now when the bluetooth on my mac detects that something else comes knocking at my door and wants to be let in, IT DISCONNECTS and closes down the keyboard and mouse, that formerly worked so well. And if I do not actively choose CONNECT to my neighbors tv, it stays there for like 15 seconds, disappears for 15 seconds and then makes a 2nd 3rd 4th Xth attempt at connecting again. I can't choose "accept" for connecting - say - my neighbors TV becuase then he/she will see a code prompt on his television set, asking for putting in something that is created on MY MacBook pro. So now, I've searched that on most modern OLED TV's it isn't possible to turn off Bluetooth at all, say if I should own a modern OLED TV myself. So they're always active. I want to find something on Mac settings to JUST allow the keyboard and mouse ONLY, and not search for anything new or even letting something else asking for being let in. I've seen it and verify that it is something "alien" that knocks both the keyboard and mouse from MY Bluetooth connection, and the connections returns back automatically as fast the "neighbors TV" disappears ... only to come back after 15 seconds again. Let's say for the argument, that this was not necessarily the neighbors TV, but a OLED TV of my own with bluetooth all engaged, then I could accept it, but then it will just output to that TV and not being able to disconnect it or remove it altogether. I can't ask my neighbor (for which I do not know who it is) to turn of his bluetooth just because just getting mine on smooth sailing. I bet that he/she has the same problem, but he/she hasn't any MacBook, or Apple mouses to begin with. So Question: Is there any possibility to lock the Apple Keyboard and Magic Mouse in the bluetooth panel to NEVER search for any other gear in the vincinity even if I would buy some new bluetooth unit? I tried but then I lose the mouse and keyboard too.

The moment you connected a wired mouse you probably realized you don't really need this broken apple mouse, lol. it Seems to be a universal problem.

What's hilarious about this is how Apple users just put up with boatloads of crap like this because..."we're cool Apple people". When what it really shows is just how finnicky, tedious and fragile Macs are. I own a Mac 27" and it's like owning a jittery, shaking, nervous little dog. It does crap like this mouse thing and no one is supposed to say anything because...it's Apple, by god. My Windows PC has literally NEVER, and that means NEVER had anything happen remotely like this. It works all the time and it also lets me decide where to save files.
