At 78, I've lived in my 38' RV that I solar powered and recently upgraded to lithium batteries for 14 years. I walk everywhere as I don't tow a car or load a bike - I pull a heavy duty cart I built. I grocery shop weekly. I now use notes to make a check list and recently - thanks to your videos - when finished I take a picture of the receipt, adding it after the list. When I get home I see how many "extra" things I bought. I keep each one to check prices for future lists. Thanks, Rich !
What a great idea! But I'll have to limit that "receipt checking" to me. My wife might kill me of I constantly checked her receipts. Ha! Thanks so much for watching!
Hi Rich! Very neat features! Especially like the recording application and the math application. Thanks for the info. We can always count on you to relay the newest features to keep us up to date. Kindness, Teresa
Hi Teresa! I hope you're doing well. Right now, it seems this video is one people are finding helpful. That always makes the effort worth while. Plus, it's always nice to get a compliment from you!
I’ve liked Notes since the very beginning when it looked like a yellow notepad. You’re right-it’s great that Apple has added so many functions and features over time and still keeps it uncluttered and easy to use!
Tomorrow (9/16/2024) is THE DAY!! Thank you for the heads up on Notes features. I have been a self-employed software developer ... finished my last development contract 1/2024 but as I move toward a semi-retirement photography/videography/art life, I do want to stay on top of tech! So - subscribed!!! It is easy to become "comfortable" with existing tech/devises and I very much wish to stay on top of things: exercising brain, using current tools and all of that. Thank you for the inspiration/motivation and information!
I just updated my iPhone 14 PRO to iOS 18. I haven't looked at all of the features you spoke of but the update went well and aesthetically, I LOVE the new icons ... subtle changes but very pleasing [to me]!
@@sandybruce9092 I am in Montana, U.S. I updated my iPhone plus 2 iPads on 9/16 afternoon. The update was not available first thing 9/16 for me. But I kept checking: Settings - General - Software Update. I had not received the "notification" but mid-afternoon, the Update was available as per above. Same with iPads (2020 pro and 6 inch mini). Update went smoothly on all and so far, I love it! Aesthetics plus new features: I use Photos a lot and wow!!!
I’ve been using an iPad for quite a few years - I still have my original which is slowly going to die eventually - still works but slow and it’s starting to come apart😃😃. But I love my new one so much and I’ve forgotten just about everything I know about a PC! I’ve been watching you using the pen but I haven’t decided if I need one - but yes, I think I do WANT one!! I’ve always gone back to my iPhone for the calculator as many times I need to convert cm to imperial numbers - hope iOS18 is coming soon!!!
Hi I was trying to follow along with you but my iPad Pro is on OS 17.7 so I don’t have the first Apple Note feature BUT the remaining features I was able to try out. 🎉thank you it was so much fun. Apple Store has the Audio notes application so. I might download it for now. “Grandpa” I love our videos. ❤❤your pace is perfect and it gives me a chance to follow along easily. Thanks 🙏 again. Bye, bye for now until the next lesson.
@@squeakyg2161 oh okay. Just in case, these are the iPads that are compatible: * iPad Pro (M4) * iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation and later) * iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation and later) Essentially that includes any iPad from 2018 or newer. I have an older one so I'll be missing out myself, so I can empathise if that's you too. :)
These new features look like they will be very helpful. Can’t wait to download the IOS 18 version so I can try them out. Thanks, Rich, for always keeping us updated on how to use the new features!
Your videos are absolute gold! I was thinking after watching this video that I really need to go back and categorize your videos by topic and rewatch them on the plane when I travel or anytime I have a little spare time. Question: How do I do that??? This might be something that would be of interest to others and hopefully you would consider doing a video as to how to facilitate this effort. Again…thank you for putting in the time and effort to create such excellent content.
Apple features are awesome! I'm especially liking Apple notes more and more, the various things that one can do with it--the possibilities remain endless. However, being the only Apple guy in a world of PC users can be a lonely existence, lol. 😂. Thanks again for the video.
In covering the audio recording feature, no admonishment is made re: recording people without their knowledge. It cannot be assumed that people understand that they should always notify any other participants in a conversation before recording.
previously record didn't work if you were on a phone call. This was very frustrating when say a doctors office called with an appointment and you couldn't note it down fast enough as they spoke. I sometimes would have to ask them to call back and leave a voice mail so I could remember the information
I’m looking forward to the collapsible sections in Notes. Will the section collapse with media in it, such as a photo or pdf or will it just collapse the text?
Was wondering if you know of a way to use notes as a sticky note for your desktop. I know there’s a notes widget but I can’t find a way of having more than one. When I pop a 2nd on up, it shows the same note as the previous one I have. I’d like to have multiple notes.
Re: Collapsible Headings. Nowhere on the internet, has anyone explained if you are able to do levels, a collapsible heading levels, inside another collapsible heading or subheading. How many levels can we do/collapse. This feature, inc 6 levels, was avail. In iWork almost a decade ago. Can you collapse/uncollapse multiple headings by assigning a keyboard shortcut. Thanks
Hi ! I have been note taking on ipad pro since the first gen ipad pro. Using Apple Notes causes the device to heat a lot. And I have experienced it all the time in all the devices. And this has forced me NOT to use Apple Notes. Have you too ?
Heating a bit - yes - but only on my iPhone. Not my iPad. But the heat on my iPhone is only noticeable and not annoying. I have heard about this a little bit though. I hope an update to your devices fixes this issue for you.
Very good tips, thank you. Way too much for a worn out broken down old man to remember and learn. I'll just have to keep watching the video and trying after the upgrade comes. Thank you again.
Hello, thanks for all the tips and info. Regarding the audio transcription feature. Can we copy ONLY the transcription (not audio) to another new note ?
I know I can put a password on individual Notes, but does the Notes app have a password for the app as a whole? I thought that was coming with iOS 18..
More iOS than iPad version. Some of these features are iOS 18 which isn’t formally released until the 16th September. look for available updates to the OS then and you should be able to follow along.
I've gotten used to it. One of these days I'm going to make a video on how I use the Apple Pencil in my work. It's probably less than what people think, but I do use it strategically, and I find it useful. Thanks so much for watching!
I frequently hand write notes. But what Rich doesn’t mention is that Scribe isn’t restricted to notes. It works system-wide. For example, if you edit a photo in the Photos app, and write a note on the photo, Scribe will work there, as well.
I wish that could happen. But my guess is that the older devices do not have enough on-device storage, memory and power to house the AI functionality. Unlike other companies, Apple has decided to keep AI as "private" as possible. And that's takes a different architecture than has existed previously. It'll all be on-device, or at least most of it, as opposed to flying up to the cloud, getting an answer, and delivering it back to the device. I guess we'll see how it really turns out.
In ios simple tasks which is essential to everyone is addedas a feature in the latest update. Thats an irony. Many features which are upcoming in ios update are available on other OS since ages
