Smart TVs where at least 6 years ahead of being common ,people really didnt understood the product and that was why the first apple tv was not a hit , just a cool gadget among enthusiats and video hobbyst
Yeah I remember even in 2010 HEARING about Apple TV but I didn’t even know what it was really. Just knew it was probably expensive and I didn’t bother with it.

@julianixtheking iTV is a registered trademark in the UK for a large Broadcaster. There was no way on earth Steve or Apple were going to get round that one.
It was so silent and I think it was because he was presenting something so alien and everyone was really learning what Steve was showing, like in 2006 when I was a kid, my family TV was a big Sony CRT with basic cable, and for media we had a very capable Win XP PC, it had a DVD player an audio card with a stereo system connected to it and when we wanted to watch movies or listen to music we used the PC, but that was still connected to a phone line for internet, it wasn't until like 2009 that we had DSL and a WiFi, today it seems like the most basic thing like the only "box" I have connected to my TV is my PlayStation unlike what Steve Jobs said of having 3 or 4 different devices back then and no wonder for me people were so silent, if I had watched this presentation back then I'd also be listening because that kind of devices was unheard of.
That’s a fair evaluation. I remember just as recent as the last decade, I was trying to convince my mom to get a Roku TV or an Xbox for the family (I forget which) because it had so much you could do from one device. The Xbox let you game and have access to Netflix and such. We didn’t need to buy a smart tv, we could just get an Xbox. It seemed so alien to my mom at the time and honestly to me as well, that so much could be done from one device.
I mean, the audience largely consisted of the tech press who I am sure had broadband at this point. The Xbox 360 had been out for ten months when this announcement was made which was a very capable media player. I don't think any of this is alien to them; They're just being professional.

Apple and Steve Jobs really pushed a lot of technologies we see today and you have to respect that.. From Netflix, and all the digital streaming companies, again ahead of his time and this video shows it. I don't think anyone in that room really appreciated or realized how popular for both this device and the future of digital streaming that will yet again change the industry. Jobs did it to both the Cell phone and TV, and of course music.
Nah RU-vid made streaming content online popular and Netflix has been around since the late 90's and transitioned to streaming in 2007 none of what Steve did regarding the Itv(Apple Tv) was new and had been around in the early 2000's
@@themoreyouknow3523 I didn't say Apple "made" streaming content, I am saying they were the first company to really bring it to our living room and completely innovated the way we watch TV to this very day. We cannot deny that. RU-vid is a digital service, Apple TV is a hardware platform with digital media. They completely changed the world.
@@themoreyouknow3523the reason RU-vid is standardized as the platform for video is because it came on the iPhone. I’m old enough to remember when it was big but there were alternatives and it basically smashed it after that
@@LarseusSteve jobs actually wanted to make a real set top box but he died before he could talk about the secret formula. It was going to be the next project
I have 3 of these first gen (1 is the “take 2”) and loved them. I’ve had a large iTunes library since the early days and this was a perfect way to get stuff into the main system.

Before Netflix and streaming, this thing was too early IMO. Nobody downloaded movies except people who torrented them, and those people didn't buy Apple TVs lol.
AppleTV is an completely other concept. xBox is just play dvd's etc. Apple TV is like an ipod on your tv. With take 2 they even added easy movie rental. Second; apple doesnt want to add games or something. Not like xbox etc. xbox is a console, aTV is an TV-Box. Oh yes and Apple tv is easy to use. But please, look at the products before you are going to talk very badly about it :|
Now they are making a 'proper' TV, screen (hardware) and software. :) And apparently it will be called something like iPanel which I really hope doesn't happen. This is because iTV cannot be used as it's the same name as the UK channel ITV.
No, he dit not. A giant team of intelligent and capable people invented the iPhone. Steve Jobs only was one of them. You cannot give Jobs all the credit.
Kristof Wybo Many would have stopped without his push. He had the vision of what it could be and what needed to be done, without him constantly pushing, the team would have eventually given up or at the very least, taken until 2010.
