I just got the results of my annual blood tests from my doc yesterday and she wrote a note telling me to watch my sugar/pasta intake because of the glucose test. But after watching this video, I'll watch it some other time because I need to get to the store to buy some pecans. I have all the other ingredients, just missing the nuts. just some info some might like... I mixed the powdered sugar with the melted butter.. kinda runny.. then used that between sheets... saved some time and was easier for me... might be for you... great recipe BTW.. instead of nuts... I used Strawberry and cream oatmeal instead of plain... sooooo goood... thanks again for recipe...

Hello from vienna….much more cinnamon, no nutmeg. More lemonjuice. No oats, in butter roasted breadcrumbs. Raisins soaked in rum? The filo dough is great. But no sugar sprinkled between sheets and on top. I get it, you made your own version.

Thank you for beautiful work. what is the difference between using oatmeal with the apple filling and using cornstarch, flour, or tapioca? I am assuming you are using oatmeal for a thickener. Is it all the same for thickening but oatmeal imparts a different flavor? Or is oatmeal the traditional thickener for the classic Apple strudel? thank you.
Good question! Using oatmeal is not traditional I like to use a little oatmeal as it will help to absorb some liquid, this small amount will not affect the flavour at all. The only difference would be that the oatmeal absorbs the liquid quicker than the flour would. You could use flour just don’t use to much a tbsp would be enough for 2 strudels. Yes, i will be glad to someday try your strudel recipe. by the way, do you favor any particular brand of phyllo dough? Usually when someone is into baking or cooking, we all have our favorite brands for each ingredient. I love plugra butter. I am located in Rochester, NY but do travel to washington, DC area a couple times a year and can pick up gourmet ingredients there if i cannot find them where i live. thank you.
