I wonder how the augmented goggles would affect fpv pilots in regards of the FAA “required spotter” rule. Meaning, if I can switch back-and-forth between FPV and real life view without taking the goggles off. Maybe one day, that would qualify as “line of sight.” Wouldn’t seem much different than looking at my iPhone view with my DJI, and occasionally looking up line of sight at my drone.

Not an FPV pilot but I'm thinking when flying my DJI it could be even safer - I could keep VLOS at the same time as viewing the Fly app!

They had a version of this awhile back in like 2018. It was basically glasses with a screen infront of one eye

My First FPV goggles, the Skyzone V1 had a forward facing camera on a button. Kept jokers from messing with me while flying.

since its a computer, I wonder if you could somehow use digiview or widefpv to somehow get the fpv feed into the goggles.

Ive been testing a lot of mic setups. IN the field im using the DJI mic wireless system, with a printed mic holder that i got from OriginalDobo. In the studio im using a Shure SM57 with the shure foam sheild, connected to a fethead gain booster going into the m-audio solo audio interface, and fed directly into my A7IV camera. Been trying this setup, while i try to figure out if i need to upgrade to a shure SM7B or maybe the new rod Pod mic II. I started upgrading that studio stuff when I started booking a few ad reads, but overall im pretty happy with how it sounds even lazily feeding it directly into camera. Anything you spot that could sound better? Or issues? Trying to diagnose things here and there, but im still such an audio noob.

Get with the times JonE, 3500 is nothing for the average American to spend on such a sophisticated piece of tech. In fact I predict they sell out and people start reselling them for more. Let's not forget some people drop 10k on a Birkin bag. It's all about keeping up with the Jones baby 😎 As for me, I'm still trying to justify spending $450 on the Avatar goggles 😂

Good point, but usually not a ton of overlap in fancy bag flexers and uber nerds. I really hope this gives a boom to the segment and it transforms over the next 18-36 months. I have enjoyed playing with nephews occulus when i have the chance and been on the fence on getting my own. Apple has a huge sphere of influence and just having a product in the category will infuse cash to all players. I really bet occulus are working on a new version to cost maybe 1.5-2x their current gen headset which would still be a fraction of apple, with a lot more power and features. This also may be enough to attract more gaming devs to give more focus to these. Many of the games while cool, are not super in depth and are mostly just fancy lengthy demos. Only a handful as fully baked as Half Life Alex. Cant wait to see more.

Perfect timing on the release date to make stealth flying easier after rid hits. Someone needs to make a skin so our goggles look like apple ones from a distance.

The same people walking around with clunky dre beats headphones to show them off as a status symbol will be the ones wearing these stupid goggles. I haven't flown my quad since limon had short hair its about time to dust off the radiomaster and break stuff.

Yeah, i have a mixed relationship with apple. I totally was a hater for years studying computer science because back then a lot was incompatible and it cost 3x more. But they sucked me in since i became an iphone user, have had a half dozen ipads over the years (although i dont currently use one), and i do love my airpods pro. I have had no desire to user or own a macbook computer (even as a former macbook pro owner) for about a decade. Really curious where these will land, and what happens when they make a more budget friendly model that cost 1/3 the price?

From the photos they don’t look they have any input jacks so using them for any low latency flying will be impossible

HDZero goggles wind up being the coolest goggles to wear on your face. So refined like pleated khakis, or unrefined like cool diesel jeans?

I have a love /hate with the hdzero styling. They are sort of noobish looking (design wise) when you first open the box, it feels kinda like somoene learning fusion 360 for the first time. Lots of sharp angles. But once you add those trueRc patches on the front, it really makes it look more aggressively techy. Sure id wear my DJI goggles to a formal dinner, but for casual dining, for sure i prefer those HDzero
