Phenomenal review Aaron! With this level of directness and clarity, you likely won't see your name on Apple's list of people to send out early review units to, but the commitment and honesty in this and all your reviews is admirable, you are doing the job of a reviewer which is to give people relevant information to better inform them about their buying decisions. I have an AVP and have been loving it, but as you said it's very much a gen 1 product and it has a lot of flaws. I too am looking forward to what the future holds!
Great review. I had in the bag but backed out. The cost is the number one issue for me. When you add that it's an occasional use product I'm glad I backed out.
i feel i would view it the same as my oculus rift s, i was happy when i got it, but it quickly became a rare occurence for me to use it. and that was for a 400$ headset..... vr is just ultimately not that impressive.
They kinda said at the announcement that this was more or less a prototype, the next version is suppose to be relatively more affordable (for Apple), I think they more or less needed public testers with this version to recoup some costs and test the tech. I’m glad it seems the new tech works well, eye tracking sounds impressive, so hopefully one or two more versions it’ll be more useful for a wider audience, but yea not dropping that much money for a v1.
@@6Oryanmy point was more so about the fact that the cost is irrelevant, the real life use case for these headsets makes them so limiting that they get boring rather quickly, in my opinion.
Great video, most honest review I’ve seen of the Vision Pro! I tried it, but I will be returning mine this week. The price is too high for something I don’t want to use everyday.
@@zollotech Yes, it's worrying and I don't think it's good to overuse this kind of device. Mainly it can cause a problem with the brain neurons. As you said, regular VR glasses (as Google introduced years ago but never took off) would be a much better choice.
I like this video because unlike the other tech channels that try to dance around it, you are basically saying its shit right now but its cool shit in the same way that I dunno, going to Dave and Busters or Kings Island is or something. Not something you want to do every single day, and mostly has no use other than a fun distraction. It's definitely not a $4k+ distraction though.
I have had my Vision Pro for 3 days, and I have shared it with a couple friends, and the software doesn’t seem to recover well when passed between people. I have needed to fully “turn off” the device twice in the last hour of use. Not sure if that’s how it needs to be turned off every single time, but the glitches you describe are definitely real.
Despite its less good areas it still looks cool , and no doubt it will get refined over time , but for those of us with limited budgets it looks like a lot of coin with its limited use case . Thanks for your warts and all review mate .
Impressed to hear you are leaving an over 4K device on the shelf for a few days before picking up again, over time you might forget it…only use case now is 3D movies 🍿 now. Apple is brilliant in cutting down weight and size but not the price, it will stay around $4k but it will be much lighter and smaller, Titanium? High index lenses or contact lens? 5mm lesser on hardware each gen? Port Vision OS to iOS and macOS and make it one unified OS please.
@@khalidlams222 watching content is easily the best thing so far. But I enjoy the OS and ability to be productive anywhere I want. I might make a video how I’ve been using it
I just can’t find what I’d use the device for, even if I had the money I couldn’t see myself buying one. There doesn’t seem to be any killer apps that make the device worth it. Maybe in a few months or years, but not right now.
Have noticed that you have forsaken reviews on VisionPro. At the very least after this review you have put it away for a while. I think that is at your own peril since some are looking for additional updates, speculations, news, etc. I realize it is a relatively small market at the moment but having used it since the first week, additional time with it shows it to be more than worthy. This is not likely to fail, it will just require additional adopters, updates that are both physical and digital as well and includes developer support. While the price point is high, it has nearly the computing power of a laptop that, given the technology, is probably priced appropriately. Dumbed down versions below the “Pro” surely will appear, but I think it is important that reviewers and evaluators stick with it. IPhone has only so many updates to report on before it is same old same old. This device ant the software development has a huge runway! I have noticed that I spend less time now looking for updates on iOS on iPhone and instead are looking for experiences on AVP. Good luck, I have always enjoyed your reviews.
9:47 You’re wrong 😑 it takes time to get used to things like this in a year or two you will love it and that’s a FACT!!! it just needs more improvement. This will be permanent for the future.
I’m surprised for that price Apple released it with so many bugs & imperfections. It sounds more of a beta product than an actual one that could actually be used in public. As always another great review & it’s good to see your friendly & kind face Aaron. 😊
Just like iPhone 1. It’s part of being gen1 , you just have poor memory or you didn’t get iPhone 1 iPhone 1 didn’t have retina display, no App Store, no 3rd party apps. Nothing. Just a phone and built in apps that costs multiple times over other cellphones at the time ($300 after carrier subsidies vs a small fraction of that for competitors )
Try without the readers. They are not needed. No idea why they even sell them. I normally use a +2.0 for reading and found they are absolutely not needed on the headset. I can even see my watch, something I normally can’t do without readers.
@@zollotech My mistake. I thought you said for reading in the video and assumed reading glasses. You might want to try the two strap band. I found it to be more comfortable for longer sessions. I’ve been using my extensively while traveling weekly for work. Like you I do occasionally trigger selections accidentally through unconscious hand movements. I’m just not very good at keep them still, especially while having a snack on the plane or talking (I’m one of those people that use their hands while talking). Hopefully they add a jester to temporarily suppress hand selections, until you repeat to re-enable them. I’ve done some stupid things in Teams meetings because of this.
Who told you that you’re suppose to use it everyday? I don’t even use my computer everyday. Only my car and my smartphone. Vision pro isn’t meant to be a replacement for smartphone. It’s more of a iPad.
I use my iPad every day and it’s my most used device other than a Mac where I edit my videos. Many people say the Vision Pro is supposed to replace your computer eventually.
This is a great review. Aaron has a well earned reputation for being incredibly positive when it comes to reviewing Apple tech, so when I hear him sharing the good AND bad on the Apple Vision Pro, I believe him. Thanks for taking the time to put this together!
That's not Apple's price range. If you're not going to pay for it, they don't want you as a customer. The other Apple method is to come up with a cheaper model and sell it to you at a cheaper price. I'd rather have a pro model than a cheaper variant. I got mines and I love it and can't wait for future updates.
I actually want this product. It has a lot of great tech packed in it. If I was rich I’d definitely order one. But since I’m not, I’ll wait for maybe version 3 or 4 and a huge price drop. $3500+ is just way too much for my budget. Regardless, I’m excited to see how this product develops and how the VR space will change over the next few years.
One of the things you did not mention, is the potential in sports. The demo of the soccer game and the baseball game is nothing short of amazing. I know right now they don’t offer it, but it’s definitely a notable mention for potential.
That’s exactly it. It needs to be glasses. Anyone remember google glasses and how that just vanished? If I recall correctly one reason was security and privacy concerns as you could just snatch pictures of anything and anyone with literally the blink of an eye. That development, like AI, is unavoidable though. It’s just a matter of time. And since humans don’t have taste, while I also would find avatars and these weird eyes creepy and rather rude, that same sentiment goes for what I have been seeing online for the last decade. The older gens who are in their 30s, 40s and up know what was before. New generations won’t as parents are stupid and give them things they shouldn’t have before they graduate high school. In 20 or 50 years, all this won’t matter. People will use these weird avatars and I wouldn’t be surprised if that becomes a thing within the next decade. Just look at this vtuber shit. It’s creepy af but people are ugly and/or shy so they create avatars. Some even don’t use their own voice. That is especially a thing in Japan. I can see what’s coming and it ain’t good. Human interaction is going downhill and these devices are enabling behavior that therapists would never encourage.
I mostly agree. The AVP picture is so much better than my TV, I don’t want to use the tv any more, I watch exclusively on AVP, movies as well. I don’t like the interface either, and bought the keyboard, that helps, but to me what was the productivity game changer was when I learned about pulling the screen closer and using it like an iPad. I can put screens around the room and walk up to them and interface with them directly with my fingers, just like an iPad. I still use AVP daily, but my Mac is my workhorse, and PS5 my gaming platform. Thank you for sharing your opinion.
Kind of like buying a Commodore 64 back in the 1970’s. Not quite ready for prime time. However, I have no doubt that Apple will perfect the comfort and experience and the software community will develop some really interesting ways to use it.
Awesome video! The price is too much! Apple should put their effort into doing some sort of glasses that will tell you what you’re looking at because it’s hard for me to really identify people by looking at them when I hear someone’s voice that’s how I recognize who they are. I would like to see Apple work on some sort of device that you could use to identify what you’re looking at.
I am surprised with your review. I had a chance to try the AVP out at the local Apple Store, and I was amazed at this technology and the possibilities of things to come. I have a low vision issue and as a result of six eye operations over the years, I have a bad stigmatismes. So it was not tracking my eyes very well. We opted to use my right hand as a pointer and the left to select and move items. I have a 21 inch iMac and love it. And for me, $3,500 is very expensive. BUT if I can find a way to somehow fit this into my budget, I will be picking one up. I could see better through the AVP than I have been able to see for 63 years of life on earth. I realize this is a version one. But I am blown away by just how things look through the viser. Simply amazing!!
Apple Vision Pro is so fantastic gadget , but it’s a bit expensive. Apple have to make it slower I mean the price. In second gen of Apple Vision Pro Apple should make it good. (The price)
