12:43 - You’re scrolling and interacting with the windows with one finger like you’d scroll on your iPhone or iPad… everyone else I’ve watched says you can’t do that and you have to scroll with your fingers pinched or something to that effect. I’m super glad you showed this because on all those other videos I wanted to reach through my phone and use one finger!!
Can you imagine when they integrate this with gaussian splat scenes or whatever spatial rendering tech they have in the future. There are camping spots I don't get to visit enough. It'd be nice to take a coffee break there and meditate or decompress there for a moment in walkable 3D space along with ai animated leaves, water ripples, dragon flies...
@@dtz1000 Right? Now imagine it even more detailed than what you have? Imagine entering a digital space that is different every single time you enter it. Same place, new leaf. Could really turn the immersion up.
Steller review ! I most likely won’t purchase one, but enjoyed watching your cats bothering you…lol ! Btw, cats love the smell of paper, that’s why they love boxes so much.
What Apple has done here is pretty amazing. While this is certainly nothing new - VR headsets have been around for literally a decade at this point - they have certainly polished everything very nicely. Everything seems to work very well; of course, you have the ecosystem. But honestly, most of what the Vision Pro does has been available on other VR headsets as well. Meta Quests has had hand tracking for years; you can do pretty much the same things as in the Vision Pro, like typing on the keyboard with your fingers, scrolling, and resizing and positioning windows in space. However, on Quest, you can't place individual windows anywhere, but they are all next to each other, and you can move and place them in the room as a unit. I like the UI and UX Apple has implemented for the Vision Pro and am looking forward to seeing what will get transferred to the Quest platform. I'll certainly not spend $ 4000$ on a headset, especially since I am not invested in the Apple ecosystem. I also like the big library of native VR apps and experiences available on Quest.
Something I am also really impressed by are the cutouts of arms and hands over the virtual elements. That's something I'd love to see on Quest as well!
If Quest 3 feels like toy (even the virtual world is cartoonish), Vision Pro is like a well made high end headset even the virtual world is truly immersive and real.
oh no doubt the Quest is capable... but it by no means produces this believable, BEAUTIFUL experience like visionOS and this hardware does. not even close! ecosystem aside, the refinement sells this thing! :)
You can have multiple windows up on the Quest 3 and you can even have your phone up in vr games when you need it. It can remote play pc and console games and works with connecting to your desktop with multiple screens. You can also lock the window and have it follow you as you travel. Quest 3 does so much more, it just needs Oled screens and clearer pass thru cameras, but you can use a Q3 anywhere you can use a VP with far more games and apps
LOVE this video. You know, you have a "senior audience" out here that you've probably not even realized. Imagine not hesitating for the Gen One product because one's own lifespan has become a factor! I will get a Vision Pro after my next vision Rx update and in the meantime, I'm learning so much from RU-vid videos, Reddit, Discord, etc. This video is so far my favorite - so good at sharing the actual "experience"! Thank you so much for making it!
I just want to ask, how does the Vision Pro work with an iPad Pro, is it close to using a Mac book pro, or is very different…. I may buy one of these eventually, but it will need some work, since I am disabled, and I would prefer to wait until the 2nd generation releases… which means I may be waiting for a year or a few years, we will see…
Do you know if two person are using the Apple Vision Pro at the same time they can see simultaneously a movie, or photos, etc. This means that can share the same moment together?
meta quest has plenty of app that can do this, bigscreen vr being the best one. If meta quest with a lower end hardware can accomplish , then im sure devs will make an app for visoin pro soon enough
It’s nice they have Mt Hood in it and you highlighted it. I get to see it every single day looking out my kitchen window. Also, RU-vid did an abrupt about face and just announced through the Verge yesterday pretty much admitting they screwed up and announced that there is a RU-vid app on the roadmap but gave no timeline. I’m sure the fact that every single VP video has said something about it and they’re all raving about the Vision Pro. You know they won’t just let this pass by!
So many of these features have been available on the quest 2&3 for awhile , keyboard typing and multitasking on screens and so many more oh and plus YOU CAN PLAY REAL VR GAMES OR PLAY PCVR
the real review will be in a year, yes its amazing at first blush but in a year are you still using it day in and day out or has it lain in the corner for 2 or 3 months
You can screen mirror and cast trailers on Apple TV to demonstrate what you’re talking about next time without getting copyrighted or seeing a black screen. Movie trailers will show just fine when screen mirroring. You’re welcome
if you need usb-c to transfer files, it's not happening. And we all know air drop gets error 10 out of 10 times for large files. Is this the apple way to force people using icloud? Doesn't play 180 degree video and there's no 3rd party apps that does. The screen is among the best out there but there's no practical use besides watching some 3d videos on disney plus and apple tv. 3d capturing is also subpar compared to what's out there. I'm returning mine next week.
not everyone has a wide open schedule for stuff that are not important. I'm not implying it's worth keeping for another week. I have nothing against Apple and basically locked in their eco system for years, but it's just not worth it for someone like me who only makes around 200k a year. Maybe I'll keep it as a toy if I have more money.@@fluxnekta
My problem is that it is only compatible with other Apple products. If it worked with Windows PC's that would be great. But nobody has said anything that it will. Plus, the price is quite expensive. One could purchase a brand new computer for that price. I realize they are coming out with a version that is about 1,500 in cost. But even that is way overpriced.
Saw one guy got pulled over for driving his Tesla with his Vision Pro 😅😅😅 now ingenious but apple 🍎 should think about teaming up with Tesla to create a whole new drive-by app 😅😅😅😅
Hopefully in future Vision OS updates they allow for non foveated recording, it’s not too distracting but you definitely can see where you are looking since the rest is a bit blurry. I think someone has already found some hacky workaround though.
I think it would be a good little addition if there was a way (a gesture, maybe triple tap of finger) which brings the window you're looking on, closer to you, so you can interact with it using your index finger. And then doing the gesture again puts the window back to where it was originally. This would be nice if you want to focus on a particular window quickly like a screen. Like with HBO apk you can put it far away to consume media then do the gesture to swipe normally with your finger then do the gesture again to put the window far.
I have had this thing for 2 days and honestly I don’t recall ever buying anything in my life and being so impressed. There is some negativity from those who are just watching it from a distance but when you actually put this insane thing on it is so mind blowingly incredible you won’t even notice what you paid. For movies and extending my laptop use to a fully flown massive monitor it is already worth it and the apps have barely even started.
Anyone else notice an uptick in Apple emails advertising their credit card? Hmmm… im thinking prob 1 out of every 1000 people that get that email will make that bad decision knowing damn well they can’t afford it
I can't believe someone hasn't added AI speech to text using something like Meta Whisper, way better than some annoying VR keyboard. People forget, touch screens have been around from the 90's, We didn't all jump on trying to work with computers using touch. You ever tried keeping your arms out in front of you for prolonged periods? hahaha it gets painful very quickly, Keyboard and mouse + voice control is where this needs to go.
all these apple shills (me being one btw) pretending like VR/AR/MR hasn’t been a thing for years. excited for gen 2 but gen 1 not where it needs to be atm for $4000 w tax. Disclaimer too i have had 4 different VR headsets. Apple products are often the first time someone tries an emerging technology. I sadly don’t get to have my first AR/VR/MR experience w the Vision Pro so that’s my context to this comment. please tell me what you think i love talking about tech. @NoahHerman have you ever used another VR headset before?
Do you think this headset would be less exciting if Apple will let the iPhone do multitasking? Seems like having multiple windows open at one time isn't quite novel.
It’s interesting to me how someone can buy something and it triggers other people. I guess that’s the beauty of living in this country. Lives are so good dad with someone else buys has such an emotional impact on an insignificant person. My neighbor just bought a $250,000 Lamborghini. I was so happy for him, I bought a $4000 headset. He was happy for me. There was no name-calling, and no jealousy, just two mature, dudes, understanding that what I do with my money is my business, and what he does with his money and his business. I guess that’s all part of being an adult. On a sidenote, one of the customers I have just bought a $4000 jacket, would I buy one? No. However I told her she looked good in it. I love in the world that I want to be in, a positive/mature one.
@@imanners1 the feature that killed the value of the headset is only being able to have 1 mac display mirrored to the vision pro. why would i buy a $4000 monitor that doesn’t even let me do two when i have a nice ultrawide and the super nice display of the mac. productivity is the selling point of this device and it’s not there yet. YET. i believe VisionOS 2/ the next pro can solve these issues. FOV is too narrow as well but gen 1 so 🤷♀️
It took me a bit but I finally just finished this video… Everyone is raving about Marques’ video, but personally, I think yours puts his to shame. I love how candid you were in talking about it and using it. I guess less technical talk and more real life talk if that makes sense. You covered everything the others did and more, at least for me. I also love that you had your 1st gen iPhone out. I still kick myself for not keeping mine. We had two that we kept for about 4 years but ended up selling one and giving the other to our daughter when she broke her phone, then she ended up breaking that one. It makes me furious thinking about it. Anyway, thanks for an awesome video, it’s definitely my personal favorite of all of them!!
thanks for the comment and sticking around ❤️ also, you can def find some OG iPhone's on eBay! just do a little digging and i'm sure you can find something nice :)
I think it's been said that using it on a plane actually doesn't work since windows are meant to stay at a specific point in space? So the windows just fly off behind you at 550 mph. Although I'm sure an airplane mode with fixed positions relative to your face would be an update if indeed you can't already do that.
31:48 it's almost like replaying a memory... when you said that it just reminded me of Black Mirror (I think it was the first season) where that couple was having sex but replaying memories from past relationships or something. Just made me think like where this vision pro is going in relation to the porn industry. Pretty wild but where there's money to be made.. huh... I can imagine already porn stars selling sex experiences or even real people recording themselves... And tbh that's just the most mildest bad thing I can see coming from this.
As an apple fanboy I was actually really disappointed with it trying it in the Apple Store. It’s extremely uncomfortable extremely heavy the past due video is pretty bad and the displays are not nearly as high-quality as being said in some RU-vid videos.
@@NoahHerman watch a teardown, the front display takes up WAY too much space and it adds to the weight and kills your battery. it is utterly useless and adds to the cost of build. I feel like they tacked it on to make it worth $3500 instead of $3000.
Lol, total BS -tried the AVP over a full week was not impressed at all, heavy, poorly balanced and with motion blur. The Quest 3 with V67 is a much better all round device and absolutely kills the AVP on price.
I had a demo at my local store, this thing really wow me , it’s the most amazing piece of tech I ever try in my life yet, this is the most exciting thing apple ever released yet, it’s like you have the IPhone, Mac, IPad, AirPod, apple TV and more in one piece of tech, it might not be for the mass public yet, it’s still not perfect, it’s a first generation product, but if you really into tech, love apple products and don’t mind dumping thousands of dollars on it, trust me you will love it Will definitely get one myself This is truly the feature
@@rangerkayla8824 You're delusional. The Quest 3 is only good for gaming; it can't multitask, the default apps suck, and you can't even watch movies without resorting to piracy because there aren't any streaming services available for it; it's just a toy. All the default apps on the Quest 3 suck, including the browser. You have to buy media players from the store just to watch content. The user experience sucks terribly.
No offense, but please for Steve's sake, stick to the tech and just leave your cat alone and out of this tech video. Didn't come in to watch Apple Cat Pro.
I honestly couldn’t tell if this was serious or satire. This is the most beta video I’ve seen in a minute. Ditch the cats and the fantasies about being an android and join the real world. Still not sure why this was recommended. Have fun bud!
even still, it's quite a ways a way and it probably won't be too too different. i may eat my words haha... but for now this tech is pretty impressive!! but admittedly i am an early adopter, this is a first gen device and im all for it :)
3:24 bruh...they`ll be another one coming out in the fall come on now, apple does not slow down for nobody. I think the slimmed down glasses will be out in the fall
I've produced stereo videos since 2018 professionally. I have to buy AVP for my career, but was VERY skeptical. Couldn't wait to shoot the demo down. Instead, it was like a religious experience. THIS is the future.
If you like Vision Pro, you should definitely try VR gaming. Instead of rearranging panels and sliding through apps you get immersed in a world that is very mind blowing. It is something everyone on this earth should experience.
@@NoahHerman most mind blowing game I’ve tried so far is Asgard’s Wrath 2. Red Matter 2 and Hubris are a great experience too. Fruit Ninja can’t compare😅
fruit ninja on the vision pro is.... terrible. these guys know nothing about vr lmao and with only 36k views on this video, he ain't making his money back haha
3:28 When you said they aren't coming out with a new model for three years, is that for the pro model specifically, or also "non pro" too? First time hearing about a release timeline.
Why are you justifying yourself of making such an expensive purchase with all those “I’m not gonna lie” and so many negative points finding excuse for it?
I know if you have the money to buy this thing another $145 for glasses inserts is probably in the budget but man does it stink that you have to pay more as someone who has shit eyes to use this device. I get it but still… sucks
Noah, my body is totally ready, it's my wallet that's not ready, nearly $5,000 for the buildout I would get is a little much for what would be a luxury tech item. AVP is probably their best 1st Gen release I've seen, the only one I was tempted by the 1st gen. Thinking back, no other Apple 1st gen has tempted me, not the iPod (till 5th gen), iPhone (till 4th gen), iPad (till Pro 2nd gen), or Apple Watch (till 4th gen). AVP on release is much more polished than I would have expected, even more so than what I felt the iPhone was when it released. If the price is right, Gen 2 or 3 might have me. This thing is so dangerous for introverts. As if we needed another thing to make it easier for us to withdraw from reality/the world. I'm surprised AVP didn't launch with user accounts, it's like iPad all over again. With optic ID and easy to swap fitment accessories, it would be so easy to switch between users. If any Apple device could benefit from user accounts, it's this. It might lessen the cost burden if this could be shared between close friends, room/house mates or with a partner/spouse. I already hear users complaining about the (commercial) adult content situation on AVP. Sending 3D nudes is totally going to become a thing. I would be surprised if someone hasn't already done it.
