If you compare the Apple Watch Series 5 to the new Apple Watch Series 6, then there really aren't many differences and the upgrades are very small, but the differences and upgrades are enough for the Apple Watch Series 6 to be taken seriously. It's not a solid product, a reliable product.
I returned the Apple Watch Series 5 because of battery and charging, but the new Apple Watch Series 6 has a new battery and faster charging. Which is a game-changer. But probably the biggest change is the world. Covid-19 has created this new normal, we feel more detached from the world, and the Apple Watch helps to keep us connected.
Apple Watch Series 6 vs Apple Series 5:
- S6 Processor 20% faster
- Better battery up to 18hrs
- Faster charging 0-100% in 1hr 30mins
- New straps
- New colours
- Aluminium, Steel and Titanium

Reason for LTE: Leave the phone at home if you can, you’re still reachable but not scrolling. And with AirPods you can stream music from the watch, great for running and exercise.

There’s no reason for LTE, nobody goes anywhere without their phone, and if your running as they say ( when most Americans know they don’t run) how far are you running that you will be so far away from your phone that you need to pay a higher cellphone bill.

Exactly correct. I run with only my Apple Watch, AirPods. Used the Series 4 for 2 years. Just got the Series 6. Never had any battery issues. Having cell service is worth the extra cost and peace of mind that I am reachable and can reach others when out. I have quite a lot of music downloaded to the watch, but it is also convenient to stream music and podcasts that aren't downloaded. It's great not having to carry a phone while out running.

I did upgrade from the S5 to the S6... honestly, I am GLAD I did. The faster charging actually does make a difference for the nights that I useit for sleep tracking (weeknights when I wake up earlier than my partner). It makes a lot easier to get up in the morning, and now I'm not waking him up with my phone alarm, AND I am not running out of battery because it is better juiced up. That functinality was honestly worth it. But, I use my watch a lot - for workouts, I use the AOD, and I am on LTE for 1-2 hours most days because I can't have my phone out with me at work. So the extra battery life for the LTE version specifically I think was honestly worth it! But if you are only getting the bluetooth model, then it's not worth it because you don't need the extra battery power to get you through with that connectivity.

I find my Apple Watch very useful for lots of reasons and I love my mechanical watches. I have considered double wristing to get the benefits from both. What do you think? I have a friend who does it with a very slim fit bit that looks more like a bracelet so he kind of pulls it off.

As someone that collected watches for a long time, I can genuinely say that I enjoy this latest iteration of the Apple Watch. I’m not gonna sit here and say I like it because it feels like an actual watch now because it still feels like a smart watch. However, it feels enough like a watch where I can wear it for most days, and save my collectible watches for times when I go out. I also find myself looking at my phone a lot less when I have to watch, because of how limited it is. I get my important information on the watch and it’s easy to ignore something if I need to. It’s nice to see a review from another person who likes collecting watches. It’s also nice to hear you acknowledge that it’s not going to completely replace your other watches.

Can smartwatches and mechanical really exist side by side long term? I got the series 5. Initially to keep track of my exercise then found myself working out every day and actually got more organised and productive because of little silent alarms and my calendar on my wrist. Stopped wearing the Apple watch in favour of mechanicals and my exercise routine and productivity have suffered but I feel like a right plum wearing both 🤷🏻‍♂️

Thank you for your review of the AW series 6. I've been tempted to get one over the years, but held back because I was afraid I would never wear any of my nice mechanical watches. I'm still waiting to get my 39mm Rolex Explorer or new Sub(who knows how long that will be). I appreciate the workmanship of a mechanical watch and how a watch can compliment your style. It also becomes a conversation piece when out and about. I love my Rolex, Breitling, Omega, Panerai, and IWC. They all offer their own unique style and presence on your wrist. Something an apple watch cannot do since they all look pretty much the same. I guess changing the straps is a way to make them different. My wife likes the AW and has her eyes set on the new one. She's a nurse and likes to have the ability to access certain apps without having to take out her phone. I get it. I got her a Rolex Datejust for her birthday last year and she only wears it once in awhile. Her main go to watch is the Apple watch. That is what she prefers to wear on a day to day basis. My choice would be a mechanical watch. I'm not big into social media and don't have a FB or Twitter account so getting alerts like those are useless to me. If I need to get the news, I will use my phone or my computer. I find it easier to use and read. This pandemic has changed the way people interact, but it won't go on forever. Prior to the pandemic, I would see people constantly looking at their phones, not really engaging with anyone around them. You see that scene in "the social dilemma" where the family is at the dinner table and everyone is on their phone. That's a sad reality of where we are at. I think the Apple watch simplifies or reduces the amount of time you use your phone, but it still makes you a slave to the tech. Wearing a mechanical watch gives me the ability to 'unplug' from all tech. Sorry, but I'm a little biased towards mechanical watches. Thank you
@kumbaga
@kumbaga 3 года назад
Stick with mechanical watches. I'm a nurse and my colleagues look so silly flipping their wrists just trying to tell basic time. If they enable always on display they will run out of battery in no time. Also people even forget to charge their phone what more a watch? If a zombie apocalypse happens.. you're lost and can't tell time in 2 days hahaha

Thanks for the video! I’m looking for advice on the GMT face half circle colors. When you load a new GMT face, the dual tones are split along the 9-3 hours, does this function for the GMT face? Soon after you adjust the face for custom GMT, this split shifts, it’s no longer horizontal across the 9-3, it tilts to an angle. Then, no matter what time zone I set it to, I can’t get it to go back to a nice horizontal split 9-3 (unless I remove the face and add it again); can anyone help me understand this? Thanks in advance!

Do you think that, over time, you're likely to basically stop wearing your mechanical watches? Surely a lot of the benefit of wearing an Apple Watch comes precisely from wearing it all the time, so that the sleep and health/fitness features deliver their full benefit?

I just recently got my first ever Apple Watch. I did contemplate seriously getting a series 6 but was told only difference with it was just a measurement app ie blood oxygen on the watch. I couldn’t justify the extra £200 for just that. The blood oxygen thing isn’t a need, want or interest for me. So I went for the series 5 gold steel...best thing I ever chose to do. No regrets. I love the watch and how cohesive & seamless it works with my AirPods 2nd Gen. I hesitated for a while to pull the trigger out of fear it would render any other watch I’ve spent money on as pointless or useless, that’s not the case so far. I still use my other non Apple watches, more so for fancier settings. I love the customisable factor with the watch straps. You find your size, pick a strap or straps you like and attach them, it’s so easy. I’ve taken to creating all sorts of colour combos: khaki & orange straps, pride 🌈 & orange. I’ve got more straps on order, the sport band is my favourite band so far.

I love to feel disconnected sometimes (less stress), the reason I don’t wear a connected watch anymore.

I stoped using mine for the same reason. It will still suit some people’s lifestyles tho.

I want an apple band - something I can wear on my right wrist and have all the functionality, but interfaced on my phone. (And then keep wearing a real watch). Ive not looked into it, but a Fitbit in a few generations time would be the one I think

Came for the watch specs, stayed for the photography and legit opinion. Hate the watch aesthetically but wow is it ever impressive technologically. I feel like the only major thing left is a solar charge capability so that you aren’t reliant on an electric power source and the requirement to take off the watch to charge it. Love your content!
