I have the 41mm blue series 7 and I absolutely love it. I upgraded from the SE as I believe it was worth the money for the upgrade. I have heart problems so the extra sensors were a must for me and the quick charging is a great feature. battery life is fantastic and the brighter screen is more useful outside. I didn't think id care for the always on display but its so nice and convenient.

I upgraded from the Series 5. I absolutely LOVE it! Amazing what a difference just a 1 mm increase in screen size does. I bought the 45mm non-cellular. Battery life could be better but it does last all day. Mine is usually on for 12-15 hours. I don't use the sleep functions as I turn it off and take it off.

I just upgraded from series 3 to 7 and I love the screen and quick charge. I’m been monitoring my sleep so it’s nice to have it all day and recharge while I prep for bed.

I upgraded from a series 3 and I love it! I got the 45mm size and it’s better than the 3 by far. I notice the difference in the speed and the always on display is helpful as flipping up my wrist for a quick time check wasn’t always registered.

On series 3 as well but I’ve decided to wait for the series 8. I don’t use the features but use it for notifications watch when I’m at work. AW is one of the most useful devices for a phone when you are not able to answer the phone or check it.

I watched this video right before ordering mine. Been using it for two days and I have to say I'm a big fan. I used the series 2 a few years ago but I wasn't impressed with it, but the series 7 is amazing. I was waiting for a watch with a bit more of a futuristic design and I love the way the images curve out onto the side of the screen a bit, as well as the always on display. Battery life could be a bit longer but this thing is so quick to charge it doesn't even matter much.

I upgraded from a series 3 and it’s a big game changer I am very impressed on how big the screen is and how the images bleed over the edge I have to agree with you that the better life is not that great but some will say just turn off the always on display but that defeats the purpose of buying one but I do like How it charges really fast

Picked up the Series 7 about 2 months ago-upgraded from Series 5-and have been very happy with it. Especially loving the faster charging. Looking forward to seeing if there will be a battery upgrade in next year or two in order to be able to get say 2 days of life out of it before needing a charge. Especially as I’m starting to transition to ultramarathons.

I have a Garmin, but it irks me how often I have trouble getting the round data to synch with my watch (was Android, is now Apple, same problem with both). What I want is a golf watch that does shot-by-shot yardages, distance to the hole, the basic Garmin golf junk. If you like the Apple Watch as a Garmin replacement - what app do you use? And do you have to carry your watch along?

Everyone in my family thought I was crazy for getting a series 2, many years ago…then I gave my sister my old 2, when I got the series, 3, then gave my mom my 3 a year later when I got my 4….bought my father a 3 for Father’s Day, and now we all have them and they all freaking love their watches…I recently got the six(back in June) and use my 4 as my work watch….I never thought I would depend on my watch as much as I have…but I love it and will probably rock my 6 for a few years!

I went from an aluminum 4 to a stainless steel 7. The upgrade wasn’t necessary at all but my 7 looks much nicer. Cellular isn’t necessary but every so often it comes in handy. Especially if you have AirPods.

I have a Garmin Forerunner 245, I love the battery life of the watch. Recently got my first iPhone and I am tempted by the Apple Watch. But I think I'll wait a bit before picking one up. I can see it more as an everyday watch compared to my garmin as I have disabled a lot of smartwatch features on the watch because I didn't like how it handled notifications, calls, etc. It isn't an uncomfortable watch per say but it certainly works for multiple days with sleep tracking, gps workouts, and just idling.

First time buyer and I have 45mm Series 7 with cellular. I mainly bought it for workouts because I grew tired of having to carry my phone around the gym. Just the mindset of not having to worry about my phone makes working out that much better. However, my favorite part about the watch is using wallet. It makes using Apple Pay in public so much easier because it doesn’t need Face ID (which is a pain because of masks), or type in a passcode. I also feel like I don’t have to bring my phone for everything I do. I am a minimalist when it comes to carrying things around so that brings me joy lol.

I've been using the first Apple Watch Series 1 since its release in April 2015. As much as I've been wanting to upgrade through the years, my series 1 has been going surprisingly strong-- I also don't baby this thing. With that said, I do think I'm ready for an upgrade, and the Apple Watch Series 7 might be the move for me!

As ever, great overview. I have the Series 6 that I bought last spring and I’m very happy with it. Had Apple Watch since Series 3, and though I wouldn’t call it a necessity, I cannot imagine life without it, especially for the health and fitness features that hep me keep track and actually has helped made a difference in my life. I wish some of my other music apps asides from Apple Music and Spotify were able to stream without the need to have the phone with me. As for the beef you have with having Apple Watch dependent on iPhone for setup and adding features, I get that this may reek of locking it down to an ecosystem, but I think it’s very practical, given the larger screen size of the phone. As people like me who are visually-challenged, trying to do setup and modifications from the watch would be way more challenging to work with and would take that ease of use downward. That’s my two cents; again, thanks for this and Happy New Year!

I moved over from am OG Galaxy Watch. With my Samsung phone, it was fantastic, but when I switched to the iPhone, it was obviously limited. I personally preferred the Galaxy Watch but the Watch 4 isn't compatible with iPhone, and it's just easier to get in the ecosystem, so I got the Apple Watch. It works great, but I wish it were round and worked better as a stand alone cell device.

Great review. The only point I didn't understand is why you recommended upgrading to Apple Watch 7 from 5 or lower but not from 6. 5 and 6 are essentially the same. The only difference between them is the blood oxymeter in the 6, isn't it?

@@gandhargurav5031 Oooo-kay, except the review I watched mentioned several differences, as well as several similarities. And a quick Google of "apple watch changes by year" shows that while all the Apple watches have some strong similarities, the various levels and price points offer plusses and minuses. As with most products. Now, I don't even _have_ an Apple watch yet, and may not get one, but I can certainly see how some of these differences would be decisive for some people while being irrelevant to others (including, evidently, yourself). It just seems that calling anyone who cares about those differences "sheep" is unnecessarily rude. Just my opinion.

I have an Apple Watch SE and absolutely love it! I am aware it lacks the high-end features, but the only one I am really lacking would be Always-on Display (both ECG and Blood Oxygen are not available in my country). I will probably keep it for another year (maybe two more), and then upgrade, either to the Series 6 or Series 9 (depending which one is the newest one) and an SE 2

I had an Apple Watch SE for roughly a year up until three months ago then I changed to android and bought the new Samsung galaxy watch 4. I sold it after three months because of a lot of software bugs on my android phone and the Samsung watch was not what I was used to with the Apple Watch. So I bought a new series 7 last week with the new iPhone 13 mini and I couldn’t be happier. Just as you said, the Apple Watch ist undoubtedly the best smartwatch right now.

I have the original Galaxy watch 46mm and love it, and the only thing I miss having is Shazam on my watch (I had a wear os watch previously). What makes the apple watch so much better for you?

@@Thefastlane425 well, most reasons are my subjective opinion (like looks etc.). Though, I also liked the design of the Samsung galaxy watch 4 it was annoying that between the band and the housing of the watch, the where these crevices that were allways dirty and could only be properly cleaned when I detached the wristband. Second reason is the seamless transitions between actions on the Apple Watch to iPhone and vice versa. I have to admit that I didn’t use the galaxy watch with a Samsung phone, but with a Xiaomi phone which was probably the reason it was not such a pleasant user experience. Third is the customizability of the Apple Watch. The choice of high quality wristbands, charging stands etc. from apple is really nice. I’m not saying that third party accessories are bad, but I am certain that some of them are not up to the quality and feel as are Samsung and apples own products (though I could be wrong, it’s just what I have personally seen). Fourth are the haptics on the Apple Watch. The Taptic motor gives solid feedback. I can’t remember the Samsung watch even having a Taptic motor. Fifth is the display glass. On my aluminum Apple Watch SE with the standard glass (no sapphire mix like the stainless steel and titanium variants) was more scratch resistant than the glass of the Samsung Watch. After two months I had two scratches across the screen, but I couldn’t remember how I got them (again, it could have been just a coincidence). Sixth the use of the Apple Watch is more “playful” as I would put it. I like having little quirks, for example the some Watch faces change when turning the digital crown (they rotate or the colors merge into each other) and other cool animations. Seventh is again the integration with the whole ecosystem. When I do some workout with Apple fitness + the watch connects with the iPad and I can the my activity rings changing or my heart rate and the timer on both devices at the same time. And finally the watch has subjectively better processing power and just works more fluently. On the Samsung I often had jitteriness when transitioning between setting and apps and when refreshing stuff (it was just a little bit slower in general). Oh and the Apple Watch charges faster and battery life is the same. That’s all I can think of right now and most if not all is subjective and just my personal experience. But it’s the most prominent things for me. Hope I could help you guys!

@@Adrian-dw1oh I have the Samsung Watch 4 44mm, and it's okay. The software updates have helped, but now I can't record my runs with MapMyRun. Samsung removed the connected service on the Samsung Health app. I'm considering going with a iPhone 13 Pro Max, and a Watch 7. There is still no app support for MapMyRun on WearOS 3. I'm a runner, and would like my runs recorded. Garmin watches are nice, but I would like to have one watch that does it all.

Went from being a Fitbit user to now Apple Watch Series 7 45mm Blue. Not sure why I wanted so long but having it paired with my iPhone 13 Pro Max has been great. Originally was happy with just a fitness tracker, but now I can use other features and apps from my watch without needing to pull out my phone. Definitely worth it if you're in the Apple ecosystem.

I upgraded from the Series 5 because I dropped and shattered the face…otherwise would not have done so this soon. Interesting your point about the music with the cellular model. I have many extensive playlists that I uploaded to my watch and it works great. I guess the difference is I don’t change it frequently. The good part is that it ALWAYS works - cell service not an issue. I like the bigger face on the 7.

I'm still using a 38mm Series 3 and I really wanna upgrade, but I am going to give it one more year. Honestly the thing has been great and I loved it... until watchOS 8 got installed. watchOS 7 made my watch more responsive and much nicer to use(the unpair to update issue aside, ugh), and 8 did a reversal and thensome. The interface is clunky, slow, and clearly not made for this smaller screen. I can't believe Apple still sells it. It works, but it's not of an expected Apple tier experience anymore.

I have been an Apple geek for years and years the only reason I have an Apple 7 watch is because my wife bought me it for Xmas. I have a garmin Fenix 5x sapphire and love it. But I really like traditional mechanical watches and have 2 so I may go back to the dark side lol. Have a good new year in 22.

I got the series 7 as my comeback to smart watch because I quit using my Fitbit years ago. It was the standard base one that you had to look at the app for everything, and when I was using an Android. I made the switch to iPhone last summer, and placed my order just after the watch was released. I should’ve pre-ordered it bc I absolutely love it. When I upgrade my watch, I am for sure getting the cellular model, as sometimes it’s just nice to leave home for a walk, and not have to worry about needing your phone.

I really like the screen size bump and the idea of having a keyboard on my Apple Watch is great because sometimes you just don’t have the time to draw out all the words or able to use Siri without it being a distraction.

@@David-xy4br Tiny! Whilst I'm 6'3" tall, my bone structure is very slight so the watch face is almost the full width of my lower arm. Having now used it for a few days, I absolutely love it and the battery life on mine seems to be significantly better than my Wife's 41mm version bought at the same time - and I can see the display very clearly despite my poor uncorrected vision. I'm also finding the activity tracking an absolute boon for pushing me to keep improving my fitness and the FDA approved ECG trace (I've previously suffered with with Atrial Fibrillation), plus regular heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen levels and the VO2 max calculations are all things that I appreciate. Finally - I have the version with cellular capabilities and that's already proved its worth too.

I’d like the see cellular watches being the only option at some point (at the same starting price, or maybe not quite $100 more). I think the benefits are just so much better than the gps only; even without a plan. I believe you can only use the international sos with cellular model because it has the cellular bands for it. I think the benefits of the series 7 are connected to issues that people have in regards to getting the watch. Having a bigger display is always nice and maybe something that has held people back from getting a smart watch. People also may have concerns of durability with the watch if they drop it or bang it into things; the series 7 helps with that, especially for people wanting the aluminum watches. And of course, the fast charging helping to insure you can use sleep tracking or get enough for the day. I would really love to see apple go for a 2-3 days of battery life. I agree, I think having even an iPad or Mac watch app really boost Apple Watch adoption for people that don’t have an iPhone but have an iPad or mac.

I’m getting my apple watch series 7 Saturday. As an iPhone user for years now, I’m curious and looking forward to the watch. This will be my first Apple Watch. I’m “upgrading” from a fitbit versa and versa 2.

The Galaxy Watch 4 Classic has served me very well and has the added benefit of looking like an actual watch. I use an iPhone as well, so I'm thinking about taking the leap to the Apple watch because it seems a little more comfortable for my chicken wrists. You might have steered me toward the cellular version!

I’m looking to get my first smart watch. I have an iPhone so getting an Apple Watch seems like a no brainer. I’m here seeing if the 7 is worth the money or if I should get one of the lesser watches.

Even though I already had a GPS, 40mm S6, I decided to upgrade to the larger 45mm S7 and tryout the cellular version. Handed my S6 to a family member.

I ended up upgrading from a Apple Watch Series 3 I am a type of person that will buy something two or three years older because It’s cheaper so I decided to get me something nice so I bought the series 7 a month ago and I got to say I am very impressed and satisfied with my purchase no buyers remorse from me

I bought my first smartwatch for $40. It has an always on LCD screen that lasts 40 days with a built in GPS. It has thousands of watch faces, phone calls, notifications, and it's 50m water resistant.

I have been tempted to upgrade from my Series 4 but I’m not so compelled, maybe I’ll wait for the 8. If I had a Series 3 or no Apple Watch I’d get the 7.

I have a Apple Watch series 6 and I really love it. I swap from the Samsung Galaxy Watch to it and the Apple Wacht is much better and more useful.

Im all about the “apple life/lifestyle” and the whole ecosystem i think apple is one of the best phone/accessories companies out there so far. i just purchased a AW Series 7 a few hours ago and im so excited being i just purchased the iphone 13 Pro Max and im getting the AW S7 now. I feel brand new in a way and coming from a AW S3 it feels awesome to have finally got this.

I have been interested in getting an Apple Watch ever since they added a cellular option. I have been using Garmin for about 8 years and the gps etc have been awesome. What I have always wanted was a watch that could allow me to leave my phone behind on workouts. I finally sprung for a 44 mm SE, I got it for a steal, $177 plus the $10 per month data plan. It’s absolutely awesome, I can go on a run, hike, climb, or gym workout and only have a watch and my airpods and still stream music and track my work out. No phone, no heart rate strap!

I have a Series 3 that I bought back in 2019 and, while it has been excellent and still runs well enough, I have to say the 8GB of internal storage has made for an awful user experience in 2022. I have to factory reset this thing every single time I install a new OS update. Had this device had even 16GB of storage, I'd probably be content to wait until next year before finally pulling the trigger on an upgrade, but resetting my watch for OS updates is just too far for me to go.

I use iPhone and have 4 apple watches. I use them all. Buying off brand straps is fun. Never had an issue with the watches. My favorite is the stainless steel Hermes watch I have on rite now.

First time commenter. I always enjoy your reviews. We seem to share similar points of view on most Apple stuff. I have a 44 mm Series 5 that I use the heck out of. I REALLY like it. But you are sorely tempting me to upgrade. My battery health is down to 88%, which isn't bad yet. But having the blood oxygen monitor would be a nice addition for an active old fart like me. And that bigger display looks very nice. On top of that, having just upgraded from an M1 MBP to a base 14" MBP and from an iPhone 11 Pro Max to an iPhone 13 Pro, it would be great to just be able to to go to the store and buy an Apple device and not have to wait weeks and weeks for it to be shipped since they actually stock what I want for a change. Then again, maybe I've spent enough on Apple stuff in the past two months. Maybe I'll wait till the credit card quits smoking. LOL!

I’m a Garmin guy as I do Triathlons. I have a Garmin 935 and it’s fine but am looking to replace it for everyday functional use. I saw you mentioned Garmin so I might give the S7 a try. I’m a total Apple hardware guy so no issues there. 🤘🏼

I have the series 6 Apple Watch and love it, I NEVER take it off except to charge before I go to bed . I use it when Biking ,running or taking a walk and the breathing and relaxing feature's are great. I won't be upgrading until their is a major charge in the watch. I live in Mexico and bought a series 5 in US. Most of the health features don’t work here. So it really doesn’t matter how much Apple adds to them “health” wise if foreign countries won’t let you use them. I’ll wait to buy a new one until this features are unlocked here in Mexico.

The health features don't work because apple knows that certain features are actually illegal in Mexico and Canada, so it shuts them off. The ECG monitor is illegal in CA I was told.

And I agree....I have small wrists so I went with the 41mm instead of the 45mm. There is another Apple reviewer who has the 45 on his wrist and it looks completely ridiculous. Very few mis-taps on the 41mm...even on the keyboard.
