In a situation like injury to the chest/ribs/abdomen, or getting trapped under debris, the person may not be able to use the whistle.. that’s where the alarm on the watch would be really helpful..

@@mamin3152Why is your question ambiguous? I think you meant “Why are you asking a question about his non-question without using capitalization in your own question?” vs the other way your question could be misunderstood “Why are you asking a question about his non-question, which lacks capitalization?” 😁

You should also try to compare it with just screaming, I bet it's louder than a watch xd

Cool test. Does the Apple watch chime go off if, for example, the user has a fall (e.g., activating fall detection) and is unconscious? Maybe that's where it is useful whereas the whistle may not be as the user would not be able to blow the whistle. Maybe, I have no idea.

Not sure the siren is meant to replace a whistle or an air horn

Right it’s meant if you aren’t capable of doing it to or even if you feel you might lose consciousness you can start the siren

that is such a great point...what was that alarm for??? I guess if someone's too weak to blow a whistle?

Maybe it will help if someone is trapped, like in a collapsed building or something like that

That's really interesting. I haven't looked at the marketing on it, but I do wonder what their intended use cases are. That range means that maybe, on a quiet night, someone could hear the watch siren the next street up from mine. So it's probably too limited for outdoor search and rescue. But there is also a hearing safety issue. If they made the alarm too loud, it might damage your hearing, which may not matter in an actual emergency, but wouldn't be good if it was easy to set off accidentally.
@Zveebo
@Zveebo Год назад
The intended use case is a circumstance when you need to attract attention and don’t have / aren’t capable of using another device. The comparison in this video is a bit odd, because it’s never been suggested as a replacement for existing safety equipment you might take with you.

I’m pretty sure they couldn’t make something so loud that would damage your ears.

@@Zveebo if you’re going on a hike and you think it might be useful to have a device to alert others: would you rely on the Apple Watch or buy a whistle after watching this?
@ryderdonahue

Feels like a gimmick that might find some use in a pinch. This kinda coverage is useful though for people who think they can forego regular rescue equipment and instead just carry the watch.
@Zveebo
@Zveebo Год назад
@@gabrielmoro3d I would take a whistle on the hikes I currently take a whistle, obviously. I wouldn’t buy one because I already have one, as anyone going on serious hikes does. It will be reassuring to know that in a situation where I couldn’t blow on a whistle or lose it, however, I can also use the Apple Watch to attract attention.

To be fair, the watch is not designed as a safety device. It’s a smart watch designed for athletes, with safety features.
