Apple Watch Ultra 1: Still Worth In 2024? 

The alarm clock on the Apple Watch is one of my favourite things about it, way better than being woken up by a loud alarm noise

I have an ultra 1 but also a series 9 so when i sleep with the 9 i love how the double tap feature allows you to double tap to snooze or stop the alarm

When changing the alarm if it is specifically the sleep app alarm its just quicker to got other sleep app in the first place. I’m always checking my sleep app so it’s really easy for me to find. Hope you keep enjoying the watch, I learnt a couple new things about the Apple Watch in general which was neat

Alarm is the best. Having a partner who works at different times to me makes it much easier to not wake her up in the mornings. The vibration notifications for maps navigation is nice too

Where can I buy used Apple Watch Ultras?

Your initial thoughts were exactly the same as mine, i was not a big fan of AW. But since they released the Ultra, all new features are actually useful and smart and i meant it, the first gen's battery life does not suck compared to the regular series i've always thought of, and now it's already been a part of daily life, i did tried to use it without IP and it seemed to really work as well, AW really made a good ultra line of product that's bang for your bucks

I had an apple watch 6 and loved the alarms. But didn't like the battery life, so I bought a Garmin venue sq for $100. Best of both worlds!

Ive had the 3,5 and now ultra ultra 1st gen since it came out. This thing is my favoirte tech. Never dies on me and can have it on comfortably all day and night. This is the first time I see a new version come out and dont care. This watch has everything. Bright display, strong materials and great battery.

I do really like the vibration from the watch to wake me up because it is kinda hard for me to wake up

What about the blood oxygen sensor?

I had the AUW1, and it was great. The battery life was amazing, I would get up to 5 days with very basic use. I sold it and later got the AUW2 and I am not happy with the battery life, but I do suspect the latest update has been the culprit. That is what I miss most with the AWU1.

1. You can action button a shortcut to do the DND mode… 2. The camera is probably black because… the phones in your pocket?

Also if you put the actual sleep app as a complication or you add it to your smart stack you just click it and it will open into the option to change the alarm

With the action button, you can program the shortcut function to fit your needs. Mine is programmed to DnD. I just used the shortcut app on my iPhone

Didn’t get the ultra but my series s9 gives me about 2 days off one charge normally just use it for notifications or replying back to my messages or music occasionally I’ll mess around with the shortcuts too lol

You can turn passcode off in settings on your Apple watch app in your phone. I had same annoyance lol

I’m so agree with you ! About the health app, it’s absolutely not good as a health app.. it’s messy and not detailed like the garmin way for example

You cannot beat the alarm clock on the Apple Watch. The small vibration wakes you up slowly instead of being woken up by an annoying alarm.

If you go straight to the sleep app and click on the alarm Button you can adjust in 2 clicks and a spin of the Digital Crown

While one does get used to the size of the Ultra, I still think it's too big. I will be swapping to a Series model in the fall.

You need your phone camera open for the watch so it’s not always black

Without always on you can get at least 3 days full ! Even 4 I guess I have the series 9 and I can do 2 full days when I’m not working (bus driver and moving hands job isn’t the best for a “fitness tracker” point of view)

One trick you can use to bypass putting your passcode is to enable iPhone unlock for your Apple Watch. When you throw your watch on it will automatically unlock the next time you use Face ID on your iPhone. It comes in clutch during my morning routine as I’m running out of the door! #AppleEcosystem

Great review! 👏I am currently renting a Series 8 with Grover, until the Series X comes out this fall. Then I'll decide if I wanna get the Series X or an Ultra 2 (possibly 3?). The gentle taptic alarm is also one of my favorite features, along with taking and making calls hands-free! 🙂

Thinking of getting an apple watch and I can’t really tell if I want the series or the ultra. In my job I don’t really have time to pull out my phone and answer a call or a text message that could be inportant. The reason is because I am not on the ground while working. I am climbing a lot and scared that the series will be damaged. I know there is a solution for that the Spigem cases sadly I heard from some people that it is not the best dust can get under it etc. So a little help from people having these issues could help me decide. Anybody?

If you click the (i) on the top right of the VO2/Cardio fitness screen it will give you more information with regards to average levels for your age group/gender. Also scrolling down will give you more information about why VO2 max is important and what you can do about it. It's all there.

i really hate the Out dated design of Watch Ultra… i returned mine and got series 8 45mm cellular. i like series 8 for compact design and curved screen that looks futuristic to me then Ultra which is flat and boring looks.

I went from series 7 to my Ultra. Absolutely love it

I keep watching these “You need an ULTRA” Apple Watch, and have yet to be convinced it is more compelling than by SE? Are these guys pimped by Apple?

My mum has the ultra 1st generation she loves i’ve gone back to traditional watches like G-Shock and Seiko basically non-smart watches I love it. Best thing ever did was I ditching smart watches didn’t work for me I don’t even use a mobile phone. I’m completely off the grid sometimes the year technology but that’s very rare these days. It’s better for my mental health and the Apple Watch and unfortunately did my head in and I loved it but in the end it drove me nuts with all the glitches, with the os updates both on the iPhone and watch I don’t On technologies as much these days. It’s better. I’m a lot happier collecting watches now. I used used to collect Apple products.
