i love all your videos this is the first i disagree with you ...I run 50 miles a week and i bike 180 and this watch is incredible. I sleep with it and I most of the time really never realize it is on. I am 6'1 180lbs 61 years old I have the ultra 2
I just got my first Apple Watch and it’s an ultra 2, as someone that is 6’3 220lbs I find it actually forts my wrist. I hated watches because they looked like a kids watch on my wrist. This one is perfect
I agree with you. Just got an Ultra 2 and the battery life, screen real estate, and brightness, far, far out weigh the slightly larger size. As to weight, my old school automatic watch is so much heavier, I don't even notice the weight of the Ultra 2.
I could never go back to a series 7, 8 or 9. After going to ultra, there is no going back. The screen is the perfect size for its interface, the difference is immense if you see them side by side. The brightness is at another level. But, the main thing for me is the battery. THAT ANXIETY if I constantly have a charger with me if I go away for a day is OVER!!!! Never going back.....
I went from a Series 7 45mm to the Ultra 2. To me the Ultra 2 fits my wrist better. I have a 7 inch flat wrist and the sensors nestle perfectly in there. Super comfortable, 72 hour battery life for my day-to-day use, and looks fantastic.
I have honestly liked using the series 9 a bit more than the ultra, I don't need the extra batery life and I prefer the smaller size. Great video as always!
I have an apple watch s3 38mm and i'm trying to consider a 45mm s9 or the ultra... i may just go with the ultra as i think the battery would be super convinenit for me
Ultra’s battery life is its best feature in my opinion. I just recently upgraded from a series 5 and it’s worth it. I also got it renewed from Amazon for 400 dollars. I’m of course talking about the 1st generation ultra. I don’t think the higher brightness and double tap feature is worth another 400 dollars.
The Ultra 2 is simply the best Apple Watch to date. Battery life is the single biggest bugbear for all smart watches and Apple have addressed this issue in a sensible manner. The Ultra 2 has double the battery life and depth capability of any other Apple Watch. The screen is a sensible size and bright enough to view under any conditions. If your wrist can take it, the Ultra 2 is the one to buy.
Like most reviewers .... you totally ignore us older users. Example ... you totally reject the cell option... why would you want it .. if you fall and are not close to you Apple phone or don't own a phone ... you are out of luck ... BUT... if you have the cell option, the watch can still call for help and THAT could be a life saver.
I completely understand what you said about unconsciously knowing if the taps are not reliable. My dell XPS 17’s keyboard after three years started missing many of the keystrokes. It would still work, 9 out of 10 times, but I had to start paying attention to whether the key was recognized when I pressed the key or not.. This caused a very interesting effect. it slowed my typing on all of my laptops, not just XPS 17.
It's a good point that the regular watch does the same things. So what is it that you actually pay for this the large watch? For some it may be the extra battery or generally tougher watch - but for most, it's simply because it's more "flashy".
After switching from Garmin to Apple due to the resilience promised by the Apple Watch Ultra, I encountered a disappointing issue with the heart rate sensor malfunctioning just a few months post the expiration of its standard warranty. This problem is particularly concerning given the watch's marketing as a durable device for intensive outdoor activities. I had anticipated that the Apple Watch Ultra would offer unmatched reliability for my needs, and this experience has led me to reassess my expectations from Apple. I am now reaching out to Apple Support in hopes of finding a resolution to this issue, despite the warranty period having ended, expecting that the quality and customer service associated with Apple will provide a satisfactory resolution.
Since there are no major differences between Gen 1 and Gen 2 I ordered a refurbished Gen 1 for $499 on Amazon. Arrives tomorrow with my new 15 Pro Max. Can't wait to try them out.
Same here from a 7. I’m a woman and it’s not too big and funny enough way more comfortable. I thought it was too soon to upgrade but glad I did. Battery life, flat screen, far more responsive and smooth touch. Fast Siri is a huge plus.
I got my wife the Series 9 for Christmas and she absolutely loves it. Grant it, she had been a Series 3 person for quite some time and really only upgraded cause of a particular app she uses to measure blood sugars as I suspected that the app did an update of some sort and was no longer compatible with the Series 3.
...i held off cause i kept hearing that it was too large...but i found out (at least for me) that it is not that big and i wish it was a tad larger...fyi i am not a big person...
I bought the Ultra 1…. I don’t use enough of the capabilities for it to be worth $800 on my wrist. If you aren’t going to use all the functions, I would get a lower end watch.
i'm stuck on whether to buy the series 9 or ultra 2. im leaning on buying the ultra 2 since i go free diving every now and then, but i'm scared of the screen being bigger than my wrists (i have small wrists lol)
I bought an ultra 2. Very torn on it initially but worth it and so glad I chose it. It’s what an Apple Watch should be. I’ve. Had the ultra for a week now and would never go back. Cheers
@@lioncross1849yipee I’m glad! I actually bought the series 9 like a week ago too, then returned it 5 days later and I literally bought the ultra 2 instead. I have no regrets :)
I love mine. I tried several high end Garmins. Loved the data, battery, and look hated the price tag for the lack of user experience. At the end of the day, I love the convenience of Apple. There are features I didn’t even know I needed. At the end of the day, it was Apple for me.
I’m still usin the Ultra 1 and I’ll probably keep usin it until the Ultra 4 comes out cos the rumours about the Ultra 3 aren’t much of an improvement over the Ultra 2 so there’s not really any reason for me 2 upgrade anytime soon
It doesn’t feel right on your wrist because your wrist bone is too high. I can see it in your video. The Apple Watch Ultra 2 fits perfectly on MY wrist, I can say that for sure.
I have the Ultra 1 and a series 9. I prefer the Ultra because it is bigger and I can read the face without my glasses. I don't think it is too big, just right. Series 9 is a little small for me. Though I can understand why you like the smaller watch since from your videos you appear small sized. It is just personal preference.
I have been thinking about an ultra. But now with the blood oxygen meter no longer working on it, the size seeming so big compared to my normal series watch (41mm) and honestly the color (You can only get the ultra in titanium brownish/gray which doesn't look as nice/sleek as any of the stainless steel series 9). However, I complete long runs at least once a week (15miles+) and would love them for the marathons I do as well. My current watch (series 4) dies partially into the race, even in a low power mode. It does look like the newer series hold battery longer than the 4 even though Apple states they're the same.
The smaller Series Watch(41mm Series 7 at the moment) has always been the one for me, and will always be. I have one band, the Milanese loop, and that is the most comfortable and versatile one for me. I think the design could be tweaked a little bit to make it look stronger and more defined - like a flat screen - but the size is perfect for me.
@@TheEverydayDad Ironically I mainly use it for running, but I find perhaps the main other benefit of it is that it's replaced my phone as an alarm clock. I no longer start the day, look at my phone and slip into needless social media. Alarm goes off by vibration on the watch and then I get up. This is complemented by being able to listen to podcasts straight from the watch to fall asleep at night. So, the phone stays out of the bedroom! Loving it!
I went on a apple certified refurbished ultra 1 from series 7 because more cheaper, the battery life, the screen is the one I need, I was surprised it looks brand new and the battery health is 100%
May 12, 2024. I just bought this watch so they can sell it again, however the blood Oxygen app on the watch has been disabled which I didn't even know about all this when I bought it. I just found out today that it did not work and when researching I found all this out. So I guess that's how apple got around to not being able to sell it, by just disabling the app and so far as I can tell they did not give a date of when or if it will be re-enabled. My watch is using Watch iOS 10.4 and the app is still on the watch but you cannot even uninstall it as I guess its built into their operating system, nor can you use it.
Your whole video is tailored to YOUR experience with the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and doesn’t seem to take into consideration that the experience not the same for others as it seems to be for you.
Went from 6 to Ultra 2 a few days ago, double autonomy and fast charging in 30' from 12% to 50% and 100% in 80'. More defined and bright display, very readable both in the dark and in bright sunlight. I thought it would be heavier and bulkier, but it's perfect. Very accurate GPS, and is much faster throughout. Alpine loop Indigo strap is very elegant. I love it! 😍❤️
I like a watch that can be worn to ANY event with ANY outfit and that doesn’t impede on any type of my movements. The Ultra is just not that !!! Now if I were a some EXTREME sports person that possibly lived in a camper …. Then maybe. First the phones got comically large and now these watches. And to be very clear, yes I can afford either and this comment isn’t about the prices it’s simply about comfort and lifestyle and I find new tech to be taking over our lives with discomfort and annoyance. Life was better back in 80’s
I’m planning on buying one the beginning of February, do you have a screen protector or a case around the watch body? I’m just wondering how durable the titanium case is. I was planning on getting a screen protector but I’d rather leave the watch body as is. Do you think either are necessary?
I saw the way you wear you'r watch, and it’s probably why you don’t feel it confortable. Nevermind the smart watch brands, it's bether to wear above the wrist bone . More confortable and bether accurate heart rate reading.
Watch OS 10 is the biggest drawback. The fact that they took away usability to put in widgets, which was comparable to the information on the watch faces in the first place. If I could go back to OS 9, I would.
I own a Apple Watch 6 at this time. I do not plan on moving to a new Apple Watch until new health tracking features are part of a new model. Going to be features and not the GQ style that drives my purchasing decision. Now for the Ultra. Feel I would be able to use it without a case. My first Apple Watch I war without a protective case. Received some very nasty scratches over the years. The Ultra with the sapphire crystal watch face would provide the protection I would need. I have owned a high end precision watch in the past with sapphire crystal watch face that cost as much as the Ultra. The only thing they did was tell time. Because I had screen gashes issue with my previous Apple Watch with my Apple Watch 6 I use the Smiling Case Compatible with Apple Watch Series 6/SE/Series 5/Series 4 44mm with Built in Tempered Glass Screen Protector,Overall Protective Hard PC Case Ultra-Thin Cover- Clear. Have replaced the case once so far because of a gash. Under $ 10.00 US and a new crystal clear, watch face.
I shattered to screen on my series 3 because it didnt have any protective case. When i ordered my series 5 i also got an Otterbox case for it. I find the Ultra design better.
I hate the Ultra too. That freakin big dial is hard to turn cuz it rubs against my skin. I prefer the older rounded version with its easier to turn dial. Plus the older version slides under a shirt sleeve much easier.
I had this one, but the “smart” functionalities didn’t look that smart, except ability to have a voice calls independently of the phone. I switched to Garmin Epix 2 and for my use, this watch is WAY better than fancy toy called watch by Apple :) And battery life of 3 days sounds mildly said ridiculous. Even most if not all smart watches with starting price of $100 have more than that… and they do not miss most of Apple’s “smart” functionalities :) Let’s be honest - this is the most overpriced toy from Apple for people who actually don’t need anything more than just having branded junk on their wrists ;) All Apple products are overpriced, but this watch win the 1st place for most overpriced one. The second one I would give to Airpods Max, but this is totally different topic
NO ban occurred. The Oxygen Sensor has been deactivated on all new Apples since Jan. 2024. The lawsuit expires in 2028. Keeping my series 8 until then. 3rd party app ? Hope so.
The Ultra is expensive considering I don't need those extreme sports capabilities it has, but I was interest because my current Apple Watch my first is a 41mm and I wish I had purchased the 45mm and thought 49mm would be really easy to read with my old eyes. Then I started looking at how big it was and how high it sits off the wrist and held off. Then I started hearing people who had purchased the Ultra who had gone back to their regular Apple Watch because the size, so then I started looking for people wearing Ultras and see just how big the watch is especially the thickness. It would be nice to have a long battery life, but not if it's like speed bump on my wrist. So I'm waiting for the Apple Watch X and if nice then get a 45mm model. Have to say I've enjoyed my Apple Watch way more than I expected.
The extreme sports features didn’t even factor into the reasons I went with the ultra 2. The ruggedness, bigger and brighter screen, and battery life alone made it worth it.
I'm a huge believer in "Check before you buy", and am lucky to live within 15 minutes of an Apple Store so, when I was looking to get my first Apple Watch in October 2022, I went in and tried all the models, sizes and colours. I'd originally been drawn to a darker colour, but wasn't sure of size. I ended up getting a Nike Series 7 41 in Starlight - didn't need the 8's extra features, but wanted more than what the SE2 had to offer (the Ultra was just too big/expensive). Have to say, I absolutely love it. Thanks for the vid!
Unlike the iPhone 15, I chose not to upgrade although the double tap feature is intriguing it didn't seem worth it. Maybe when the Ultra 3 comes out I'll make that jump.
