Talking about shortcuts, Siri, ar kit, etc. Audience: mostly silent Talking about 3rd party navigation apps finally on CarPlay Audience: literally everyone cheers
Apple's walled garden finally has a side road. And if that road was physical, Google Maps would know about it, while Apple Maps wouldn't know for another year, at which point Apple Maps will navigate you into the garden's wall instead of the road.
This video always cuts right after they announce a new feature. They‘re clapping in all major or even minor changes, sometimes even too much lol. But you’re right, it‘s still funny to hear them going crazy exactly then in this video ^^ but great to see 3rd party navigation support for many reasons, one being that Waze for example has a big community across all mobile platforms, which is great for navigation.
iOS 12 is basically Apple playing catch up -For you = Google Photos -Scenes/Shortcuts = IFFT/ Tasker -Gallary view = Windows Photo app -Screenshots = Snipping Tool (tbh MacOS's version looks way nicer) -Grouped notifcations have been on android since like forever Also I was surprised they didn't make Siri work offline
You seriously think macOS is catching up to Snipping Tool? macOS has had Screenshots since forever. They just gave you a shortcut to edit it without going into the file location like you can on iOS. To be honest I can't compare the two programs because I've never used Snipping Tool and always opted for Lightshot on my Windows machine.
I think it's funny that android users come here to troll. If you don't like apple or have an apple device, why even visit the page. I don't know anything about adroid devices. I don't have anything negative to say about them. But I've literally never went on a video that was about the devices because I don't have one. What's that about?
"Its Android P.. But it will Actually come to your device, even if it is six years old. So... yeah.. Buy our phones, you WILL actually get your hands all the stuff we announce without rooting and custom roms."
Google photos + Bixby quick commands + Android's notification system + Android P usage dashboard + Hangouts + Samsung's ar emoji = iOS 12. Total ripoff, no innovation but a much needed one. Thank you WWDC..!
This seems like they either developed this together with google or coincidentally they have the same goals in software development. Both set there focus on ai, monitoring the use, notifications and not being disturbed. Apple now also implementing their own ifttt with siri. Only thing that sets them apart for me is the really generous compatibility to older devices of apple.
All I see in the comments are people complaining about how all this already existed and making fun of Apple fans. I don’t get why anyone would hate any device by any company. Especially if they have never owned it just leave people alone with their choice and let them be happy that they are getting all this features too.
Is it me or does a lot of theses just sound lik5they took it from Google and added the Apple name. For example the notification, and the do not disturb, also with Apple Photos.
I love apple's MacBook os because of how it looks and its simple user interface and I love Microsoft's windows because of its customizability and developer/gaming tools. I wish somehow both of their strengths combined to make the perfect operating system.
All the things announced could be done in android or windows atleast 1-2 years ago, like search bar and memories in photos app. Apple needs to really keep up.
Regarding Facetime... whenever you press home button, the video is gone!!! And not able to switch video to normal voice call!! No detailed study has been done by Apple team!! Unfortunately if Steve was here, he definitely would have changed it!!
Bartosz Olszewski Yes they did, it's just mostly only used for Apple Pay. They don't use it for regular read and write for security reasons. It's also available for 3rd party apps. It's not like anyone really uses NFC for anything else anyways. It's been a thing since 2014 on the 6
Kam A but in many countries they don't support payments. I live in Poland, one of the most important countries for contactless payments in the world, and still it's not possible to pay if you have an iPhone. On Android pretty much anyone with NFC and android 4.4+ can pay.
Bartosz Olszewski That doesn't really matter because Apple devices don't have much of a presence in Poland. Only like 4% of Poland's cell phone market share is taken up by Apple. If people in other countries aren't buying their phones, it makes sense that they don't bother making widespread support for all of their services. What point were you even getting at with that reply
Behzey the verge is already a sister of Vox, which identifies itself as a news understanding Chanel. Edit: Vox media owns the verge, and vox the RU-vid Chanel.
Travis M I’m just saying, if they’re going to add more basic apps to iPad, it would be nice to have a calculator. The thing I like about the iPhone’s calculator is that you can access it via the control Center. It’s very useful. It makes no sense for the iPad to not also have this functionality.
first do your research cause there's been the option to turn it off the throttling *even if* your battery if you battery is in bad condition. But I guess everyone would rather their CPU to work harder so their phone can shut off @ 30%
Oron Culzac Windows doesn’t have a good dark mode yet but they will finally fix it in future builds neither has linux and there isn’t much more competition so it kinda is
Bloom so windows dark mode which is out and functioning isn’t as good as a dark mode that they only just announced... ok. That doesn’t matter they are catching up. Still no touch or inking support on the desktop os.
Pretty hypocritical baring in mind Android P copied so many features from iOS 11. Swipe gestures, home bar at the bottom, the app switcher. Not to mention the blatant copying of the notch, Animoji, removing the headphone jack, and many others!
Honestly, notifications were one of the biggest pain points. With that fixed, Android isn't all that far ahead in the general user-experience front. Default applications in 2020?
@Jamie Karl: Yea dude, because it's THAT easy to replicate Google search. And you're cherry picking when you say Google is focusing on tech that's getting old, because they are leading the AI field by far. Apple does some cool things, I agree, I use a Mac, but Google has some awesome products that you can't replace, like google maps, gmail, google assistant, google photos, google docs, and others. Now you would think that these have no value, because they're not monetized individually, but what they are doing is creating an ecosystem that keeps you using more and more google products, and it works. About Apple and microsoft secretly working on something revolutionary, I wouldn't hold my breath.
I can't stop laughing because in the start of the vid every time they cut to the next scene just 1 dude claps and then it cuts, it's like there's one dude in the whole audience who's not really impressed
Oli F Photos stuff is just like the Assistant tab in Google Photos. Like a feature for feature replica. Siri shortcuts are Assistant routines Grouped notifications are old af Google already supports multiplayer AR, but it's a useless gimmick on a phone anyway Not much new in here
I don't get it!?! Even past versions of Android already have all of this, and these are not even better. It's weird like watching a cult sermon. Mind boggling!
Google : "we made strides to advance AI and machine learning in consumer devices, providing everyone the opportunity to experience a glimpse of a future guided by AI" Apple : 8:45
Take a shot every time Android sells your data to advertisers. Oh wait please don’t, I don’t want the cops investigating your death from alcohol poisoning to land up at my door.
Oh yeah! Group Notifications....that's something never seen before anywhere...right?.. Group Videocalls must be new...no?...it's been done by Hangouts since 2011? No way!.. Oh oh, the Photos app, with suggestions and everything....no again?...what? Google Photos does it since years ago? Nahh... Wait for it....Memojis!! "a breakthrough"....wait, what? Samsung's done it last year?? booohh Apple News is a good one....there is no Google News out there....what? it is?.. But, but..we're bringing GMaps & Waze to CarPlay!....yeah yeah, we've always knew Apple Maps sucks, this one's on us. We've Reports! You can take care of your wellbeing with this one....wait....Wellbeing....it rings a bell...I'm sure I heard it before.. This is it....shortcuts for Siri!...you need to pre-program aaall actions first and then..tadaaahh....Alexa? what is that?....they already have an entire ecosystem? WTF?..
Conrad Siegfried What exactly are you making fun off? They introducing all this even for 2013 devices isn't even a bad thing. Good luck trying to get support with even a 1 year old Android flagship that's not Pixel devices.
So, if a feature exists on some other operating system, it would be better if Apple never introduces it as well? Does that also work the other way--Windows and Android should never introduce a feature that first appears in iOS?
YES! pretty sure the same guys who worked on workflow since they were acquihired. hope workflow is still around when ios12 is launched. I love that app.
Apple's business model: Sit around twiddling thumbs until Google I/O Go to Google I/O then copy everything they show making sure to say that Apple's is the best most awesome version ever
Ian Rak And you do realise this is a video about Apple products and services? Lol the fact that non Apple users are in the comments trolling shows more about them than anyone else.
Exactly what I was looking for, a video, summarising everything within a few hours at the end of the event. Prefect.. Thanks for uploading this so promptly :D
Read Castor Well, you called that “innovation”. Nobody in the Key note said that... But thanks, I think embracing diversity is a really nice step for a cooperation as big as Apple.
I don’t think you can make that argument anymore. You can only optimize an underpowered computer for so long and Macs are now effectively three years behind PC counterparts. Longevity only in the sense that it retains resale value longer but I’ve been looking at eBay recently and even that seems to be fading.
I really wish they focused on XCode though. It's a huge part for developers since iOS is the dominant OS in the market, and the event is called Worldwide Developer Conference for a reason.
Really? How? The biggest features were dark mode and the apps coming from iOS. Some really nice improvements here and there but pretty small update overall... again.
apple is just playing catch up with IOS , almost everything iOS 12 brings android has had or will soon in android P. i do have to give them credit the AR and animoji stuff it really cool.
Likhan Ghosh yeah i get that. Under standing how company's roll out software features i bet that after the google I/O event apple had there people crunch to get the screen on time tracker and the do not disturb sleep thing into iOS 12. but hey the more the merrier.
Likhan Ghosh no. Actually IOS is quality over quantity and Android Quantity over Quality. Why? Android has more features while sometimes being useless or irrelevant while ios has less but useful and relevant features
Nova wolf There’s really no point in comparing. Android has a horrible install base so regardless of Apple playing “catch up” iOS has far more users with a greater install base.
