Nice character in this, kind of reminded me of ocean waves in places & space in others! It is nice to see the effects of the inks more prominently, while the glitter is there in the background playing its part but not overwhelming the whole thing. My mind is blown by all of the possibilities with this craft! Thank You for sharing. Really Beautiful!

Beautiful , have you tried spraying your clear coat (epoxy) two pack clears with a little airbrush spray gun? And i want to know if the alcohol ink can be mixed in with the clear epoxy or does it re-act and doesn't mix. Can have like a nice translucent clear that's colour and then add some pearl to your clear for a final finish and it changes the effect looking straight at it and at different angles , give it a go. Love your work

@ThePurpleStitch

I have not tried a plastic cup. I’ve seen conflicting arguments on the safety of epoxy over plastic. From what I understand, double walled is safe but the epoxy can have a chemical reaction on plastic and leach into the cup. I have not done a deep dive on research, so I just avoid it just in case. 🙂

This is beautiful! Question: do you have to put a second layer of wet epoxy over the dried epoxy before adding alcohol inks? Or did you just do that to make it spread more easily? I’ve been trying to figure out how to do a glitter AND alcohol ink tumbler, but wasn’t sure on the specific steps and which one I should put on the tumbler first. I was thinking that I could do an epoxy layer and put glitter over it so it would adhere to the tumbler. Then another coat of epoxy. Would I let that coat dry before adding my inks? Or do it like how you did and add layer of wet epoxy over the dry before adding the inks? Any/all tips and advice is much appreciated, as I’m just a beginner. Your tumbler is so beautiful! 💜

Hello! Love the colors!!!! So vibrant! My question is when on the final step of a cup like the last possible step how do I fix the divot like holes? Example, I'm making a cup for a present for my brother in law and I put a layer of exopy over the decal, let it cure. It was a couple days before I was able to finish so I know ample time had passed. I laid down the final coat to ensure that everything was even and to my ocd liking lol. However it decided to spread and leave divots all over the exopy. Now, I've tried sanding, I've tried stripping with acetone and I'm having trouble. The cup is salvageable and I'm trying to save my work. Advice?
@ThePurpleStitch
@ThePurpleStitch 4 года назад
I hate when this happens. It’s like there are spots that repel the epoxy. After you sand and wash, try doing a clear coat before the next layer. That seems to resolve my problem when it happens to me.

Hi ! It’s beautiful! Quick question... how do you get your epoxy so clear and runny ? Mine doesn’t ever look like that 😩 lol
@ThePurpleStitch
@ThePurpleStitch 4 года назад
☺️ I warm my epoxy parts before mixing. Then I stir with a metal stir stick to reduce air bubbles. Sometimes I get the epoxy too hot beforehand and it starts to cure too soon. I can tell a huge difference between wooden sticks (like popsicle sticks) and metal. Some people rave about silicone stirrers as well.

@ThePurpleStitch

Ya know, I’m not sure what causes it but I get them almost every time no matter how much heat I do or don’t use. It could be from oils from our hands if we touch the base coat without gloves. That’s a total guess/theory. You’ll see me touch those spots to cover them in most of my ink videos. 😆

@EinzelKampferWolf
@EinzelKampferWolf 4 года назад
I've seen others use 91% alcohol on the cups before they apply the epoxy/colors to help avoid separation. Once you apply the alcohol, you can use a clean, lint-free towel to help wipe it off. Once it's dry, it's good to go. Just avoid touching the exterior of the cup with your hands from the time you apply the alcohol to the time the cup is complete.

I use the epoxy method 99.9% of the time. You apply a suuuuuper thin layer of epoxy and apply the glitter. Watch for any spots that need more glitter. If there is a spot with a little thicker epoxy, the glitter will sink in and have a flatter look.
