APPLYING THE KIWIGRIP NON-SKID PAINT TO BOAT FLOOR DECK - FULL BOAT RESTORATION - PART 11 

I used Kiwigrip on my swim platform approximately six years ago. Followed directions and it still looks like brand new. No chipping cracks or discoloration. It’s the best on the market.

I used the kiwi grip to do the floor on a 24m vessel. We ended up troweling it on to get good thickness and gives it the ability to get more texture with the roller. We found if not enough was put on it would take the paint away as you saw. When creating the texture it pretty much just makes the ‘spikes’ into a bubble and we found over time, general wear and tear from foot traffic, caused these bubbles to tear and left little holes in the paint. Just needs a sand and re coat at that stage but well worth putting a thick layer on to get extra life out. It can also be diluted to do thin patch ups as it is water based!

I am restoring a 2000 Bayliner( first boat) and I pulled out all of the crap carpet to Gel coat everything. Can you tell me, should I Gel coat the Deck before applying the Kiwi Grip? Thanks .

Also, I've done lots of painting in my time. The reason it started lifting the paint off was because the roller was dry when you started! Looks like is still turned out good tho

Do you seal that paint with anything or is that the finished article? I have done something similar on my boat and just from walking on it, with clean shoes, I have dirt and marks all over it, its not been out of my garage yet! I opted for white and it shows everything

I have a question. Could I use this type of paint on a metal tube frame that's meant to be pushed around? Is this paint rubbery or hard like epoxy? Do you think it would it stick well to metal?

My boats surface already has the diamond pattern non-skid molded in. I do want to paint it but not so sure if using a paint with texture already mixed in such as Kiwi is the right product to use. Any thoughts?

After watching a number of videos in this series I don't think the patch job I did on my fiberglass canoe was so great anymore. I was reading and rereading instructions on mixing catalyst hardener like I was getting ready to perform brain surgery and this guy rebuilds an entire boat! Nice videos. 🐊
