Albert Pujols is one of the best hitters of all time, and should be remembered as such. This is a video highlighting the greatness of The Machine. Follow us on Twitter: / baseballquotes1
I really wanted him to break Bonds all time record and when i was younger i thought he could've potentially do it but age catches up and it happens! Def the best player in my generation, i was born in '92! I had to say him and Griffey since i was born!
@@BaseballQuotes1 I really want him to hit 700 as well, but at this rate im not sure if he'll be able to! Maybe if he plays for another 5 years but realistically he has about a year or two left!
Same. Lifelong cardinals fan here and I came of baseball age with the beginning of his career. After the first few years I began advocating for GOAT. Little did I know, most players late-career greatness at the time was due to PEDs and pujols ended up showing us what all those steroid-era sluggers would've would've like without assistance.
2006 really solidified him as being the best player of his time. He solo squads the cardinals into the playoffs and had 49 hr and 130+ RBI’s with a broken wrist missing 2 weeks worth of games when he could’ve missed 4-6, should’ve won that MVP IMO.
I remember that year like it was yesterday. He had a 14 homerun April, 11 homer May with like 60 RBIS at the start of June. Absolutely ridiculous and so fun to watch.
The machine is the best ever for players up to 30 years old. After 30 he has been okay but for baseball players under 30 years old he is the greatest of all time. Very much hoping he stays healthy and can go 700 doubles and 700 hrs. He would be the only one in that club ever. He is at 669 doubles and 662 hrs. Unfortunately he will need 2 more season to accomplish this. I believe he can do it he just will need to sign a cheap 1 year deal after his Angel's contract ends next year. Albert said in an interview that it isn't guaranteed that he retires after his contract so that's good hope and news that he can go 700 and 700!!!
when covid initially cancelled the season, Albert was the first player I thought of. He's so close to a number of milestones, like 700-700 and the RBI title, that he will likely take multiple years to accomplish. He's got a full season, maybe two, left in him before he retires, and the semi-lost 2020 is going to hurt those career totals
@@BaseballQuotes1 its easier when you're playing 162 games a year instead of 154. Albert and Trout are great, but not Babe Ruth great. Neither will hit 700 hone runs. It took Bonds to cheat with steroids to hit that number. Hank Aaron and Babe Ruth are the only true 700 home run men, but even Aaron was able to play more games than Ruth. If Ruth didnt have his injury riddled seasons, and was a pure hitter, hed be at 1,000 home runs, easily. Ain't anyone better than the Babe. Hes the GOAT for hitting and one of the best ever for pitchers. And yes, Ruth had to go up against guys throwing 100mph+. Look it up.
I agree, they play more games now than when Babe Ruth played. But you fail to mention the fact that, the babe played during the segregation era.. he never played with Blacks or Latinos..there was also much less teams compared to now..
Truly one of the best hitters. A hitter isnt defined just by the numbers he puts up, but the impact he has on the team and community. As a player, he was everything you wanted. Solid glove, best bat in the league, and a leader most importantly. In St Louis, he was a god father in that community to those young fans, and that speaks volume to who he is. He has lived up to the test of time, and I believe with some grit and determination, he will finish his legacy at the 700/700 club.
A hitter is absolutely judged by what he does at the plate and his numbers. His impact on his team, his sport and what he does in the community is irrelevant. That is when we judge him as a player and a person. He gets high marks in all. You can talk about the whole man, but this video is about what he does with a bat in his hands. Just the numbers please.
probably one of the more baffling things about his performance, he's currently sitting at 681 career HRs He did this without ever hitting 50 in a single season, his highest was at 49 in 2006. This is how consistent this man was at the plate at leaving yard. One of the best hitters the game has seen.
Great video. As you mentioned earlier a lot of the younger fans wouldn’t appreciate how great this man was. “The Machine” was an absolute monster in St.Louis. One of my favorite players growing up along with bonds, a-rod and Manny Ramirez.
Glad you enjoyed! Not a knock on the younger fans as they have a lot of superstars (Trout, Betts, Yelich etc) to look up to, but their view on Pujols might be skewed a tad based on his Angels years
He was an inspiration to so many. Including me. I was a pitcher but also a short stop and I would always study film of Albert to try to hit like him n break his swing down. I'm a cards fan so I was sad to see him go but man the memories he left st Louis over the yrs.
Albert the best im from st louis watch him 11 years close still watch him to this day no drugs needed repeat same swing and clutch 2019 he hit 23 hr 92 something rbi and didnt play ever day wow
I’m not a Cardinals fan but I do have to say that I loved Albert Pujols. Albert I appreciate your greatness and your humbleness. You were a great role model for a generation. I will be watching everyone of your at bats this year and no matter how many home runs you end up with you have won my heart and the hearts ♥️ of so many fans. May God bless you and your family. Note: I still believe you can reach 700hr. ? You look in awesome shape so far. You can still help a baseball club for another year? I mean Julio Franco was playing till he was 50. So please don’t let people tell you you are done. Make sure you have a strong year this year and come back for one more year and you will be at 700 for sure. 😃👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I grew up in STL and I'm so fortunate that I got to see this guy play so many times up close. I remember one game I went to when the pirates were in town. Albert hit 3 home runs that day and the place went absolutely crazy!
I remember listening the my little handheld radio in the Spring of 2001 on the school bus coming home from school and hearing Pujols' name for the first time. I was 15. I'm fortunate to have followed about 95 percent of Pujols' St. Louis games while he was with the Cardinals. He truly was the Machine.
As a Cards fan, it's been an absolute honor to watch Pujols' career span from my childhood into my late 20s. Just recently, I attended the August 18 game vs the Rockies where he hit a Grand Slam for HR #690. Dude is beyond words in magnitude of just how pure of a hitter and outright player he truly is. There is nothing you can say that can suffice to describe Albert Pujols, because in order to do so, you'd have to write an entire encyclopedia on his career thus far. And even in his retirement year, at 42 years old, he's STILL crushing dingers, even if he's now relegated to being a useful DH in certain situations.
Wonderful ball player. I have had the pleasure of watching Albert play a number of times whilst on holiday in California. He never disappointed. Awesome.
Right on the money, he did everything right, one minus , lack of speed, but he made up for it 10X with his brilliant base running, where he was vastly, vastly underrated. (Im talking his first 10yrs here) his positioning and glove work at first,, also , so severely underrated, ( he easilly could have been rewarded the gold glove several more times.... and his hitting, it speaks for itself. As a Cards junkie for 45+ yrs, the best player i have ever had the pleasure to watch. This guy..... Damn, i miss him at some point of every redbird game i watch, please make the DH universal (something i thought i would never support) so he can come back home, at least for his last year. This HAS to happen!
Favorite player of all time, he always will be. I’m happy to see him finish his career at home w the Cards. Regardless of how this year goes I’m just glad we got to witness the Machine one last time! #5 ❤️
I did not realize this is a 2020 video. Imagine the fact that he is back in STL to end his career and what a season he has had in STL. Since the All Star Game he has been THE MACHINE. Ends the regular season with 703 home runs. 4th of all times.
Awesome video. Well done. I remember being a kid in 2001 and seeing him torch the league. I remember them calling him super rookie on sports center. Been a fan since the beginning man. Just glad I got to witness the legend in real time.
My first game at the new Busch Stadium was the Easter 2006 game where AP hit 3HR, including a walk-off. My fiancée and I talked all the way home about how we could tell our kids and grandkids that we got to watch the prime of one of the all-time greats. I missed Musial, Aaron and Mays, and was in the wrong League for Griffey, but I got to experience Pujols every day for a decade.
Was doing research for our own Pujols video and came across this beauty! Had no clue you guys were crushing youtube as well! New sub, keep up the good work!
As a Cardinal fan, I was sad to see Albert go. It was difficult, but something that can't be taken away or discounted, is what he did for the Cardinals during his 10 year run. 7 playoff appearances, 2 World Series titles, 3 MVP's, and a ROY award. I still believe, had be agreed to a 5-6 year contract, stayed in STL, his numbers over that time instantly go up 15-18%. When we went to LA, he had the enormous pressure to deliver playing for a new team, in a new city, with all the eyes of baseball watching. Yes, his staying likely means at least 1 more WS win for the Redbirds, and maybe that playoff drought never happens, but we still battled without him. I would love to see him sign a 1 day contract with the Cardinals to retire as a Cardinal, after the 2021 season.
Great video. I was working for the Peoria Chiefs when he played there. He's an awesome guy. Wish he would have signed with the Cardinals, but that's the nature of the beast.
Albert Pujols is my cousin and my Dad is Wil Pujols i never realized h0w much he has accomplished many more home runs to come hopefully. Im glad to be in his fam
What is even more impressive for his longevity, it is highly theorized that he is actually 2 years older then claimed (so he could play high school ball), this is according to those who went to high school with him.
He was robbed of the MVP in at least 2006... Howard was not even CLOSE to the player Pujols was. We drove to StL every year from 1997-2011... my Grandpa passed the same yr Albert left for LA. The only thing that sucked was his wife making some really crappy statements about St Louis and the Cards. He was our hero and we're all stoked he's back to end his career.
Imagine being the guy who was begging TB to draft Pujols, gotta imagine that’s one of the single most satisfying I told you so’s ever. Your scout is begging you to take this guy who he’s positive is the next best thing in baseball, and even tho you can get him in the 12th round, a spot where you’d be happy to find a minor league starter let alone a generational talent, you refuse to listen. Why even pay the guy if when he’s literally pleading with you to draft a dude in a position that wouldn’t have effected them as far as losing another key draft prospect bc you’re already in the 12th round and everything at this point is a major role of the dice and not drafting with expectations of greatness or even long-term solid success. What a boneheaded move and I imagine that guy gets giddy when he sees his old bosses
It’s crazy I swear anytime I would watch him and a pitcher would hang a breaking ball or leave a fastball up he would make them pay... almost every time. Yeah Father Time caught up with him. But Father Time is undefeated. He’s still hitting good for the Dodgers.
Makes you wonder if he is in fact quite older than he says and how many homeruns he could’ve hit then if he had started playing when he was actually in fact 21 😂
I managed to get a stl signed hat from pujols for my 16th birthday (i'm 25 now) and it sits in a glass case in my room to this day. When I got that I legit felt like my life was complete lol.
Pujols first 11 years in the league was the best right handed hitter I've ever seen and statistically the greatest righty ever. Everyone wants to romanticize Griffey, Pujols beats him handedly in every statistical category even if you spy Griffey 300 ABs in his best season ever, it's still not close.
Know what's pathetic, most writers don't even have him in their top 25 all-time! That is criminal. He is top 10, and after he hits 15 more homeruns, he will be top 5. He has 50 MORE doubles than Hank Aaron, in fewer plate appearances. An update on his rankings in offensive stats, would be appreciated. Thanks.
He should be a 5 time mvp minimum, he had the misfortune of playing when barry bonds was unbelievable. If his legs didn't betray him he would pass babe ruth in home runs at the very least...I would love to see him start taking again out of nowhere and be a new nelson cruz and play until he's 43, if he could start crushing the ball again
