Of course we understand that your cases are for foreigners. But we watch your videos, cuz we are very pleased about how you talk about our country and culture, thank you very much:)
@@ghalamat2821 i thought it was funny , but quickly understood it's not , due to fact u won't get it as i in my mind and deleted that comment. Surprised u catched that. Good for u huh?
@A B Yeah, I read up a bit on that. I noticed they have already started. A lot of the business signs are now using the latin alphabet. I wish it was the case for me when I first started coming here. But, I still see it as a win. Most of the people here would understand me if I were to use the Cyrillic alphabet to write Kazakh. Since I am from a somewhere that's already using the Latin alphabet that's already in the bag.
My recommendations other than what you already mentioned: 1. Telegram, other than Whatsapp, as a messaging app, as well as a source of local news, events, etc. 2. Onay, instead of CityBus, that works much better in Almaty. 3. If you want to get a local bank card, get Kaspi Gold and you can pay for goods and services almost everywhere by transferring money. 4. Senim or Rakhmet apps allow you to make payments in most restaurants, cafes, shops with good cashback deals. 5. Krisha.kz for finding apartment rentals. 6. OLX.kz (local eBay for buying and selling stuff)
Awesome content, thanks for shedding some light on my home country! Always great to see that the cultural exchange is not entirely dead and that there are some people like you, who are genuinely interested in our lifestyle and background.
Awesome video, Rocky. I really enjoyed it, 'cause I'm a foreign student and I live abroad and struggle with problems, that you face with. and I've never noticed them before, back in Kazakhstan. Actually, you've given me a good idea for making a new video. Thank you a lot
Now people in KZ are moving from WhatsApp to Telegram because it has higher security, more functions and better interface, that’s why you need to download Telegram with WhatsApp 😸
I actually filmed a whole segment about Telegram, but since only teens/young adults are using it currently, I decided to cut it out. Many foreigners who come to live in Kazakhstan are older, so they would have no friends on Telegram. But it would be a useful app!
A local here, this was useful, did not know about bus apps. As a nation, we are still quite insecure, and so anything being said about our country goes through “feels” filter (be it good or bad), and so super interested in foreigners sharing their experiences. Subscribed!
I was in pizza delivery boy before smartphones were cheap and widely available and I really used map on city yellow pages to find to order address. It was pure madness. No map in your hand, no way to know which bus is going there. Yeah, pure madness
OLX - an eBay analogue for Kazakhstan mostly, but can also be used in Russia. Vkontakte - one of the most popular social medias. Rahmet - cashback service when ordering a good or buying smth here. Telegram - also a messenger, actually, a better one in terms of features, but less popular. Market kz - also an eBay analogue. Kaspi kz - most popular banking service. Yandex Market - shopping service.
I think you are the one, who finally made video-instruction about really usefull apps for foreigners in KZ. Very very awesome content you make) As someone mentioned before - you do more than the whole ministry of KZ)
Hello Rocky, I fully agree with your selection of Apps.👍. I think it would be useful to make a report on how to get a mobile SIM card, if somebody arrives in KOOL Kazakhstan. 🇰🇿 Greetings from Beautiful Budapest, #KhanSultanBek, but actually I'm Hungarian 😉🇭🇺
Rocky, thanks for your English! Foreigners can find useful info about Kazakh life if they are coming here, and locals - can learn beautiful English with you 😁🌸🌷🙌🏻😍
It is really cool that you deeper took root in the Kazakhstan's life 😌.... While, my little dream is to be in USA -> Miami, Florida -> Ultra Music Festival🔥
Thank you Raquel! It would be nice if you could do a video "Apps the Foreigners need to surivive in Kazakhstan: year 2", for those who already knows some kazakh or russian. Some of my expat friends use "naimi" app, where you can find handyman, baby nurse, home tutor etc.
Whenever I and my friends book a taxi from yandex we face hardship finding him , calling never solves problem cause we can't talk in Kazakh so we had to find a local to help us many times😂😂
Shit, that is ridiculous to see how usually things for you is something new for foreigners. Good luck, Rocky, and keep on making videos about our city/country, that is really interesting.
I use 2gis and it fails very much, cuz it doesnt show exactly where the buses are driving at the moment. Today I waited for №61 bus, the app showed that this bus will be in 1 stop, but then it magically disappears from the radar and it happened many times. Maybe they will fix the app later, but at the moment better to use ASTRA BUS
This guide is very actual. But I don't use Yandex Taxi, InDriver is enough for me. But after watching this video i think about download Yandex Taxi also. ✋
I would recommend using yandex translate instead of Google translate in Kazakhstan. Google works fine but yandex has a much better translations between Russian-English and Kazakh-English than Google in my experience.
I wish this video is monetized because I'm seeing the ad of Yandex.go in the end of the video, And I don't want youtube to take the revenue to their pocket
Please, note, salemetsiz be, is very correct and polite. Assalaumagaleikum is a bit archeous. Used more often by old people or by young people trying to pretend very important person (latest remark is my personal opinion)
I just wandering how fast you handle all the difficulties of this language. WELL DONE ✅
I don't know why I am watching this😂 Having lived here an entire life, everything is kind of obvious to me. But it is interesting to see it from a different perspective, how foreigners perceive Kazakhstan, above just Borat-level comprehension. Well done 👍
Hi, I live in Kazakhstan, the city of Aksu:) I am surprised that I saw on RU-vid amerenza of a chinese life in Kazakhstan, because it is very rare, I will subscribe to you:)
Hi. Great content. I wonder if you use a local debit card for this app? Please share your experience. I don’t think using your own card is good idea as it may end up charging a triple of the cost/ride...
Buy and sell anything you need on olx.kz Mostly the old or unnecessary used items you can sell for some penny instead of throwing them into garbage bins and buy some cheap used items from second hands. Some people are selling even absolutely new goods and unused items for low cost such as some gifts given them by their co workers or friends and some items you will find for free, like some type of furniture, clothes, kitties-puppies, and even old soviet piano. In case if u get bored. Idk if u can use it in english interface, but anyway u will need to chat in russian and or kazakh languages. And this is the good idea to save your money and practice for learning the languages. Good luck.
A few words from former 2GIS employee. DoubleGIS (ДубльГИС) was an old name of company and product. The new name after rebranding in 2011 is 2GIS (дваГИС), but the old name is still widely used. So you're free to call it as you wish, both names are correct but 2GIS is more recent one. :)
Wanna ask your first experience with winter in Astana. I met foreigners several times and most of the times it was during winter and tbh those people were not ready for this level of cold. I mean I saw Italian without a hat during December, like dude what's going on? Our weather is not so bad though but still can cause trouble a lot of times so I'm interested how you dealt with it
I think you should’ve added “Krisha.kz”. I am not sure if you have used it, but it is local alternative of Airbnb. I think for foreigner coming to KZ it’s very useful app P.S. I know that Airbnb is used here, but Krisha.kz is much more popular
Two-gis* Even locals call it like that, but the company itself says that its correct name dva-gis (two in Russian) Yandex taxi and Uber are cooperated here Uber tried to enter CIS market, but lost competition to Yandex, so they signed some agreement, and now their companies are united into one, with incomes shared about 30 Uber/70 Yandex Sometimes, especially in Russia, you may order via yandex, and get the car from uber And talking about Google translate, i recommend you to try out Yandex translate, because it works slightly better with Russian language than Google does, with all same functionality
I guess wolt, glovo and Yandex go/eat are suitable for those who live in big cities. As for me, I live in Borovoe area, those apps are useless 😂 still, very good tips for foreigners! Great job!
if you are a foreigner working in almaty and your employer pays for mandatory social and medical insurance (mandatory for citizens, as far as i know, but foreign employees can you it too), then you should het an app called DamuMed to use the insurance, schedule doctor appointments, etc. Not sure if it has english interface availabls, but with a bit of russian or kazakh, you can make it work))
Kaspi payment system is number one. People transfer money to each other during 1 - 2 seconds and pay in little stores using smartphones. You just need to know the phone number of the person you are going to transfer money to.
astrabus is not needed, 2gis has this function too, it seems, just click on the bus stop on the map and it will show you which buses go, the full list and those that will arrive in the near future, or if you need a specific bus, then just write the bus number in the search (route number) good luck! PS Yandex translate.
For Inter-City, I'm curious if anyone can confirm it's (being blunt) safety. The idea of riding to symkent with someone I have no idea is kind of weird. As I local guy, I imagine its fine but what if you were a foreign girl?
In next video u can add OLX(market where u or smb can sale products) ONAY(it's an app where u pay for medeo and for cinema etc.furthemore there u can add moneys for ur bus card. 3)Koleso or Krisha kz.In these apps u can buy a car or apartments(house, office, factory etc)Or rent them.I am not sure that u can rent a car through koleso kz,but u are in able rent an apartments via this app(krisha)
I recommend you use Yandex Translate for translating things from Kazakh and Russian very accurately. Especially Kazakh, bc kazakh isn’t very up to date in google translate tbh.
In Yandex Go, you can also see bus schedule. if you click on the icon of bus stop, it will show you when bus arrives. So for me Yandex go is better than astra bus.
