I wanted to do an inspection on my new APR CAI filter. It's a K&N type cotton filter and usually you just need to check them occasionally to see if they look like they need a cleaning.
Since I had to take the CAI off the car to inspect it, I just went ahead and cleaned and re-oiled it.

Hello Rad, great video. I'm actually going to clean my APR stage 2 Golf R air filter and was wondering if you could provide a link for the correct air filter oil and Cleaner. I just wanted to make sure. Thank You! There's so many K&N options.

I wouldn't be surprised if the filter medium is not actually that color but the first oil at the factory stains it that color.

Hi Rad, thanks for the great tutorials/install videos on this intake! I recently purchased one second hand and I'm missing the plastic vacuum hose fitting and I was wondering if you would know what I could replace that with? I'm thinking of putting something together but wanted to know the dimensions of the fitting before I make a mistake!

My AWE-Tuning carbon fiber intake shattered where the screws sink in. I'm sure APR is similar so remember to not over-tighten!

Great video again Rad,the pain in the ass bolt could you not change it for a conventional bolt which you could tighten with a spanner/wrench.By the way lovely car.

Can't you just take the tube off with the filter attached (side screws). And leave the main box imstalled?

should you let the oil dry out in the sun as well? seems like you put a lot and there have been horror stories of that oil soaking sensors.

I'm lazy AF I just bought a new filter instead of washing the old one. The SAIP filter still looked brand new so I didn't touch it. I don't think it does much.

Hi Rad, great tip about inspecting the new filter before you install. Also, is it true that the MK7 R and GTI don't have a Mass Air Flow sensor?

+oppanheimer As far as I know there is not a MAF on the MK7 R or GTI. The ECU uses a MAP sensor that is located on the top of the intake manifold. Are you asking this, because of the known issues with K&N oil and MAF sensors? We should be safe from these issues.

%99.99 Isopropyl Alcohol (anhydrous/ without water) is a great solution to soak a MAP sensor. Just pour into a baggie and soak the sensor & let fully dry. I've had good results with both a GTI and a Subaru. Do not use Cooking Fuel because it has anti-rust additives. You want "lab grade" alcohol.
