Sorry Laura, I’m on team Aaron for the boxwood idea near the Hartley. I think that matching the other side and widening the path makes lots of sense. It’s just amazing how much progress has happened over such a short time. Love it!

I love how confident you two are now! When I started watching Aaron was mostly silent, no fart discussions 😂, no grabbing benches and moving about. It feels like we're all best friends now. I have learned so much from your show. My son and I have spent so much time this spring putting in trees and shrubs at our newly built house because we watch you together. He is autistic and just loves watching "flowers" as he calls your show. We moved in to a blank space this Feb and we both have so many ideas to thank you for. It's fun to have inspiration for our shared hobby.

Definitely on Aaron's side with this one, his idea makes more sense. It's his garden space too! It's like it's her way or no way and I don't like that! And her attachment to stuff is ridiculous, she's stubborn and doesn't take advice well! I just wish for Aaron to man up and be more definitive in his opinion and say "this is how it's going to be, your attachment to these things is hindering your foresight as to the vision of this garden". If Aaron was allowed to map out the garden space in a more cohesive planned out space, it would alleviate her planting things and digging them up because a season later she notices how that plant doesn't have enough space to grow or the plant doesn't feel or look right in that particular spot she first planted it. It will save them a lot of money, time & enough if Aaron was allowed to create a design for the entire property as opposed to her just willy-nilly planting stuff or creating a space and then changing it the next season!

Since it doesn't seem like you sit on those benches often, but I agree with Laura, some kind of hard architecture needs to be there, what about iron statuary? Maybe something you custom-order that tells a story? Or a 4-part series of flower sculptures, or how about concrete or stone benches custom-made with your children's handprints or footprints inlaid on top? Made to look like they stepped on top, frozen at that age, in a moment of time? Could become an heirloom in time, something to pass down to them when they move into their first home.

Your tours are like spending time with best friends, just so much fun! From you and your mom trying things on at the antique stores, bumping your head on branches and birdfeeders, looking at us so offended by them, How dare they! Stepping and tripping over cats, to you and Aaron's discussions over boxwoods and benches, to farts in the wind. You have brought me, so many times to the deepest, fall off my chair laughter and eyes full of tears. I Love you all so very much! Humbling and Hilarious! And we've all learned SO much as well. Blessings to all of you for so much pleasure you bring others. (PS...I like the rocker benches where they are facing each other. Moving the boxwood closer to the tree might put them in too many roots and compacted soil thus needing more water, etc.)

Maybe a wrought iron plant stand that is narrow and long shaped like a window box? It would tie in nicely with the trellis around the corner. I especially like the look of a "window box" style stand with terra cotta pots.

I agree with Aaron on the boxwoods flanking the walkway to the fireplace area. A wider opening would be better. But your little disagreement was so cute!

I’m with Arron. The benches look good against the brick. They get a little lost in the dirt. At least on video. And yes on the black window box!

Just finished this video! I've been watching every morning that I had time after your current videos posted. I only watch Monday through Friday and sometimes Saturday before work as part of my routine! It was nice to have a little more to watch when I needed it😊

Consider: There are several gorgeous focal points inside the new bricked patio area. So, feels like the brick patio "room" is fighting with the Hartley "room." You could create a transition(a wood arbor) across over the rocking bench area. It would serve 2 purposes- an arbor over the new 2xhedgerow "walkway" would make it cozy and separate from the patio. The arbor would follow the hedgerow path across the top of the steps towards the chicken coop. Yes, the new Arbor will cut across the view to the Hartley from the seated area by the fountain but you'll still see the beautiful roof, and it will keep the Hartley from distracting the viewer from all of the beauty within the brick patio. Plus the arbor height will balance the height of the tree over the seating area and make it more of a room. This will free your mind's eye to consider a fountain size and scale for that space, not based on the Hartley view. Do continue the 2xhedgerow on the coop side like you suggested, curving back along the old pallet walkway, flanking it with one or two curving hedges mirrored like the fireplace side. Reposition the rocking benches by the red barn where parents can rest near the play area? (reposition them into shade where they aren't too hot to sit on). Perhaps get a white wisteria, to match the Hartley, training it over the new arbor, toward the fireplace area! (imagine looking through wisteria to peek at the Hartley!). The arbor will make the hedgerow walkway more intimate and less obvious, create shade, and will compliment both "rooms."❤

My goodness. You should be a writer. I completely envisioned what you wrote here. That would be stunning. The wisteria idea, perfect perfect perfect. Wow. I seen everything you were talking about. That's never happened to me before. I'm just not an envisioning person. But I saw it all. Thank you. I'm stunned actually. Have a beautiful day. 💜🪴🪴☕☕☕☕

Hi there! A suggestion: instead of a kitchen window box, create a window table! In essence, you would be creating a shelf. The width of the window. You could use some pretty corbels under the table and put an array of beautiful smallish pots on the table. I saw a pic of it in a magazine at one point, and made one for my own kitchen window. I love it! Again, just a suggestion. I love your channel, and have watched for ages!

I agree, a black window box would be beautiful! I think it would bring you lots of smiles as you work in your beautiful kitchen. I do, however, understand not having to water and clean another area. Whatever you do, it will be perfect! Spring brings such beautiful color, but Fall gives us just as much beauty.

Please tell Aaron, not that it really matters, but I think his grass looks really great, that’s a lot of grass, that green is just as beautiful as the other shades of green.😊 thank you you are so inspirational, I wish I had your creativity, and your energy, Laura. God bless you and your sweet family🙏

Laura and Aaron have such great chemistry together. Love when two very creative people, with very different ideas, compliment each other’s ideas, even though they don’t necessarily like them. Such a great couple!

My opinion of course - sometimes too much flower bed is just that - too much! I like the MORE grass idea between the Hartley and the house!!! I love the beauty of gardens but I also love the look and elegance of just lawn and path!

I agree with Aaron about the benches. They are gorgeous but they kind of block the space rather than enhance by my eye 🤷‍♀️ Looks like that area is still in brainstorm stage 🙂 Laura always has wonderful ideas so her final design will be just right 👌

Laura your vision for the garden when there’s nothing is awe inspiring, your attention to detail and the choice in colors and balance are spectacular. In the end the legacy of this garden will live on far beyond anyone’s imagination, the personal touch of friends and family who have all played a roll in your dream to come together says a lot about your character. You have built a wonderful community far reaching, whenever they say one person can’t make a difference in community I say well let me tell you about Garden Answer ❤ thanks for always bringing a smile

Agree that the kitchen window needs something...window box, bench or raised planter under it. I also agree with Aaron on the boxwood/walkway/bench idea. And a low basin fountain would look great in that open area.

I don’t think you’ll ever regret putting in a kitchen garden. My herb garden has become my favorite garden. It’s so nice to just snip a bit of what I want right outside the door. As I’ve gotten older I’ve put in a lot of sempervivum and violas for ground cover. Lemon balm is one of my favorites. It’s a great addition to a salad. I really think it will give you a lot of joy. Green onions will just keep growing after you snip them. So many possibilities. 🥰

I think it might be fun to develop a poll for your subscribers to see which way they would like to see the brick patio area--your way, Laura, of leaving benches as it and just continuing the walkway to other side as is OR Aaron's way where the benches are set ON the patio and then the hedge is moved over slightly to mirror the other side. I really like your designs Laura, but I have to agree with Aaron on this concept of moving benches to make the patio cozier and then having a hedge mirror other side for symmetry. I loved watching you all debate the issue :) Can't wait to see what you all decide. Also, I do agree that one window box under the window would look better...maybe an herb box since it's right outside the kitchen? Thanks so much for the tour!!!

In the brick patio area I would love to see a flat water feature in the center circle. A big piece of granite with 2” holes and a program that will squirt the water up into the air at random intervals. You may have seen this in public parks. Kids love it, and if you have a lot of guests, like for a large party, you can turn it off and walk on it. No tripping hazard!
