The trap of Main and Hastings, already took my mother and one of my little brother. Haven’t seen it in 25 yrs, It looks a lot dirtier and populated than before. Thanks for the trip.
Really nice coverage of the toilet that is Hastings. Thank you for the nice long clips, Cannot wait to see those sweet summer stumps and Tranq sores! 10/10
There is only one person who can help you, and that is yourself. I know that is a harsh hard statement, but there is truth in it somewhere. My total empathy goes out to the stricken brothers and sisters who have lost their way, but maybe in some of their eyes are doing something noble and moral so recovery is a moot point. And yes you cannot judge without walking a mile in another person's shoes, but the progression of the human species survived because of our relentless conviction of overcoming the odds. My father installed that conviction with a very simple analogy, he said, "Michael Michael..only so many salmon make it up the river." I want to be that salmon ; )
@@FBB-rz1dh Do know why serial killers kill..they lack empathy and compassion just sayin' ; ) I don't know what I would do to block out if I were a victim of satanic child abuse traded to one satanic person to another?
@@FBB-rz1dhOnly a weak man and a coward can leave such a comment. As such you would be the first victim of "natural selection" These poor people are a social problem and the society that brought them to this state is obliged to treat and provide for them and not let them die on the street.
...this is now Vancouver British Columbia after/during 9 years of Federal Liberal government in Canada and 7 years after/during provincial NDP government in BC. EXTREMELY SAD...this video should be mandatory viewing for: Justin Trudeau, John Horgan, David Eby, Ken Sim, Adrian Dix, Dr Bonnie Henry and all of the 'managers' and all medical health officers at BC Health Services. I strongly believe that none of these politicians and/or officials should be paid another $1 until serious effective strides have been made and accomplished to improve this situation in Vancouver and throughout the province. I spent many hours in the late1970's walking these same streets going to and from work and shopping in Chinatown and Japantown on the weekends. Perhaps the most that I saw then was a guy sitting on a curb with his dog asking for spare change...(the guy, not the dog...). JV.
@@mollyross3607 it is, I was I'm Alberta Calgary 20 some years ago and the streets were almost identical to these. I was in Vancouver 25 or so years ago and although I hears of some areas I didn't want to be caught dead in a block off of gasoline alley I didn't see any of this shit.. Saskatoon Saskatchewan is getting like this already, and I blame meth ,there is a meth city in Saskatoon. I just call anyone in the area a methhead.
It isn't just people born in bc, the beautiful mild winters has people traveling there especially knowing they will be living on the streets.its been like this for over 30 plus years. The city of Vancouver tried a clean up years ago putting tainted drugs out on the street killing hundreds of homeless, and well they couldn't keep up with the influx of homeless.to many questions I guess.its extremely sad to see people existing like stray animals.
I imagine you don't live in vancouver because it's not a beautiful place to live, maybe to visit but not for living in. It used to be beautiful but it's not the same anymore.
@@BryceV817 As as dude from Ontario B.C was the most unfriendly place I have ever visited! Guess cause everyone is a cop on drugs or homeless junkie...
Stay away from government control system. Be strong, ask for help, not from the government but people who can help you and you can be helpful to others. Do not loose hope, ask for help.
This has gone so far past acceptable it’s disgusting , enabling this behaviour is not harm reduction it’s the opposite ! Most of These people will never ever fix their lives on their own ! It’s so hard to get clean after you are physically dependant on opiates and meth and to a lesser extent crack . But being homeless and dope sick is a hell that only those who have been through it an understand . So when someone is in that state and they know a few hoots of there dope will make all the pain and suffering disappear if only for a short time people will almost always choose that ! It’s like if your hand is on fire and there is a bucket of ice water in front of you 🤷🏻♂️so to help them they need total intervention with capture or arrest if they won’t voluntary submit but yeh they need to be taken off the street housed in detox from 1-6 weeks then housed in rehabilitation housing with access to healthy food and job training and medical services including psychiatric care ! Leaving it like this is helping no one including the normal citizens of our communities everyone suffers in a continuous downward spiral ! I pray when the new government is put into power they make huge changes or this will continue to be a festering wound in all North American cities and towns ! God help us 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
When all hope is lost this is what it looks like. These images here are hard to watch being there myself not too long ago. My heart goes out to all these people. By the grace of God there go I.
It has been known as the ' Loonie Left Coast' for as long as I can remember. I was in the military on the island in the early 70's. It was rather nice. NOT NOW. Nanimo crapola, just like Vancouver. Get rid of all the governments and the drugs and start all over. Maybe in 25/50 years. Maybe, but I certainly have my doubts.
@@arthurchu4491 this looks just like Seattle, Portland, San Francisco and LA. just on a smaller scale. There are almost as many people in those cities as there is in all of Canada.
I mean its not really downtown Vancouver but East Hastings. I’m originally from Paris and there is “ crack hill “ near Porte de la Chapelle up north. Does it mean the entire city is like that? Showing a bad area from a city doesn’t reflect the city
Yes it does, it shows how neglected it is. Only the richest neighborhoods of Paris are livable meaning the average folks don't enjoy these parts, Paris is a giant dumpster and everybody who lived there recently knows it, only die-hard born Parisians will try to defend such a crap hole, it's nasty, it's dangerous and it smells piss every god damned corner. I'm telling you man we gonna have a good laugh at the olympics when packs of visitors gets disappointed, big time.
Я увидел каков уровень жизни. У нас в России практически нет бомжей. И не еотому что у нас все красиво. Просто бомж у нас больше трех месяцев не живет.
Wait a minute... you've found some streets and alleys in a small area nowhere near downtown Vancouver. The East Hastings area has looked like this for a hundred years when it was called Skid Road. Now I realize that videos for other cities that purport to show bad conditions are probably equally misleading.
awesome video really ?? these types of videos are getting old, someone walking threw the DTES with a hidden camera is far from awesome awesome videos are the ones making the video stops and talks to people, hear there stories
look at these poor people. I thought we third world country can't compete with them but actually live far more better than Canada. but at least Canada is still better than USA

Sure...we are now ensured that it is great city. So you can work till you can...when you cant there is sidewalk for you... Interesting fact that ppl like you can glorify this humanitarian dissaster.
