I loved every single answer, but I just wanted to point out that drummers like you, Marthyn, Krimh and some others that are doing this for other drummers/fans like us, deserve everything. We all know you're super busy but taking the time to have a small Q&A, for me means a lot for real. So thank you very much Dan, hopefully I will see you on the road.
Killer Q&A Dan! Thanks so much for getting to my question! Your answer about conviction and passion surprised me but really spoke to me. I hope this becomes a reoccurring activity, I'll definitely have more questions for next time. Cheers! P.s. Can't wait for the new NeO/Vipassi
I love that you started at 19. A lot of the amazing drummers I've seen seem to have started really early on, and it's really cool to see someone who's managed to get so good at their instrument as an adult. I'd love to see more of these btw :)
You answered my questions of "Who were your favourite drummers growing up, and what was your favourite sandwich?"!! You rule Dan, thanks so much for doing this, this was a lot of fun. I met you quickly in Calgary, Alberta, Canada twice at a few of your shows and your drumming is literally top 1%, and means a ton to me. Keep up kicking ass and putting out amazing music and material. Thank you!!
I'm not a drummer but I loved this Q&A specially the last part about abandoning lucrative careers to focus full-time on his true passion. I have nothing but respect for people like that. And as someone who is stuck doing something I hate, I find it very inspiring. Also, I love how in every "Drum teacher reacts" video that I've watched they are always so impressed with Dan's skills and he's like "I'm alright", "I still have a lot to learn", "I don't know why they hired me, it must have been a mistake". PS. I recently found out that he was born four days after me and for some stupid reason that makes me like him a lot more than I already did :P
Keep up the great work! I hope to see your drumming persevere as time comes and how those drumming expertises impact the creativity of your drumming for Neo!
Really interesting to hear your insight. Especially your practice techniques and commitments to your creative passion! I appreciate your sacrifices brother! Music is life.
Im a big fan of your work. How exactly do you practice double bass drumming? What kind of drills? at a comfortable tempo, or a challenging tempo? when do you know its time to up the tempo?
