My sister took my ex rear gunner dad and ex WAAF mum down to East Kirkby in 1989. My dad signed in and was told there'd been 3 others from 61 squadron who'd visited recently. One of them turned out to be his old mate in the mid upper turret. His mate Les sent him copies of the crew photos and information on getting the medals he hadn't bothered getting and a copy of his King's Warrant. It's an absolutely marvellous place and when I took them back and to RAF Coningsby where'd they'd met I could see the years drop away. That Merlin roar, there is nothing like it👍
