I'm heading over to the IOM early may in my V4 Tuono, which made this video interesting to watch. How wet were the roads? It didnt seem to stop you having a little fun. I am still a little wary how.good the tyres on my 2023 factory will be on roads that are not bone dry.
Hi mate, so I went in October and the weather was fairly mixed. The biggest surprise was the heavy fog over the mountain. As for the tyres, I had traction on #7 and it only broke loose once or twice. Probably due to the temperature too. Not sure if I’d replace the Pirelli’s with the same. They aren’t very versatile 🤔 I’m sure you’ll have a great trip
I have the 2023 RSV4 1100 Factory. Aprilia makes insane bikes. After watching your video, I think I might get exactly your specs rather than an MT10-SP as an upright bike.
Wow the RSV must be an insane ride! I love the Tuono and it's so exhilarating, but that's a difficult one as you already have the better version lol. I cant fault the Tuono and I love the 2022 colour scheme with the red wheels. Have you tried the V4 Streetfighter just out of interest? I was really set on the Tuono, but that was in second place...
@@CharltonsClassics@CharltonsClassics Sadly, when it comes to Ducati, anything other than the Panigale V4S is a no for me. The RSV4 is an insane bike. I took it to Andalucia; it was something else. The bike handles and takes corners like a champ.
I'm still considering an RSV4 1100 to replace my aging RC8R. The only thing aside from the usual "It's Italian" concerns (electrical issues and parts availability) is just how small they are. One of the reasons I've kept the RC8R is it was the last of the sensibly sized superbikes.
@@pauln6803 Well touch wood I haven't had any issues with the Tuono yet, so I'm hoping that the reliability issues have been addressed over time. Also I have found that AP Workshops always seem to have a great deal of spares, of can get them for you, so I'd like to think this isn't too much of an issue. The RSV4 is a great bike. Sounds like a test ride is in order to size it up :). I also think the RC8R is a great looking bike. Never seen one in the flesh though sadly...
Thank you 🙂. I agree, the crossplane Yamaha engine sounds fantastic, and is quite comparable to a V4. As it happens I went to the Isle of Man with my friend last year and he took his MT-10, which was the first time I actually got to ride one. Lovely bike and with the stubby Akra sounded absolutely incredible! Link if you're interested :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-neVIWHMKgU0.html
Evening gents, I’m about to order a 24 time attack with an Akra. Do you guys have any regrets? Any reliability concerns etc? Based in the east of England if anyone’s this way for a blast 😅
If you’re not already aware, the Akra supplied with Aprilia is not road legal so will potentially cause issues when it comes to MOTs / random police stops / accidents with investigations etc… personally I am going with the road legal Mivv (boring I know). I read that there have been some issues with overheating on the 2022 models due to the wrong coolant concentrate being used (easily fixed and covered under warranty). As for the bike I personally can’t fault it at all. It ticks every box and never fails to put a smile on my face. You may want to consider a 44T rear sprocket as it’s quite long geared and you will rarely use 6th; and slow speed driving is a little bit painful in standard form. Good luck and I’m sure you will have endless fun with her 😃
It'll run a bit cooler without the cat, and appropriate mapping. But the exhaust servo motor and carbon canister block the radiator outlets, so I'm removing both of them. I also added a bit of deionised water to the rad to dilute the coolant a bit...
@@AlphamikeleeperI tried both and preferred the Tuono - mainly because of the sound! They are both so fast. But I already have a twin and inline 4, so wanted a v4 this time!
Was great to be back on the island. Always have an amazing time there! Hadn’t quite planned for the unpredictable weather though…not experienced fog in years! The Tuono is such a fantastic bike. Couldn’t ask for any more out of a machine. Just need a proper exhaust now so she sounds as good as she looks 😃
@@sexy6uy40 Very nice👌🏼. Really like the Aprilia decal running alongside the tank on your model. Shame you can’t choose red wheels as an option with them though. I really like that about the 2022 model. But I’m still on the fence regarding the red seat 😂
Always fancied the Tuono, what’s the range like? How many miles will it do on a full tank?? That’s the only thing stopping me from buying one as they have a reputation for being big drinkers, I couldn’t live with less than about 120 miles per tank???
@@1956colinb to be honest I’ve never done a proper test if this and I guess it will depend on the type of riding etc, but 120 is probably the upper limit of what I’d get, which is usually well within my normal riding range. I read that the Gabro Upmap can help improve fuel economy, but being an 1100 and with the crazy performance you get, it seems pretty reasonable to me 🤔
