This is such a great movie and Brad renfro was a fantastic actor especially in the movie sleepers if he hadn’t tragically died he would have been one of Hollywood’s greatest stars , ps I’m very very surprised this hasn’t had more views than this , thank you for uploading this 👍💯😊
I have read the book. but I still have not seamed to find the time to sit and watch what looks to me a very impressive movie, the roll of an Nazi and that of his nemesis, Ian Mcellen and brad Renfro impressive I shale certainly book a slot in my diary. well its either that or just go out searching shops for said movie.
i was telling my sister about this movie last year, particularly the marching scene. im a movie nerd but my sister wasn't, she tried to act interested lol well my sister was killed by a drunk driver just coming home from work last month. I was given her tv that had all her settings in it. the last thing she searched for was the marching scene 💔 😭i miss you so much sissy
Shapju, that is so sad. You stated that she searched for the marching scene. I remember that scene. I have seen the movie before and I just thought of it today, which is why I searched for it. I often read comments before I watch something. It is so touching that your sister searched for the marching scene. I do not know what to write as a response to your comment. Wherever She is, I am sure that she knows how much you love her. What is her name? You don't have to answer. I just wanted to respond to you.
@@UKImmigrationLawGeek her name is Brittany ❤️ she was killed April 4, 10 days before her 34th birthday 💔💔 she was a hydro worker and hell of a woman ,she was just coming home from work. I miss her every minute avd am going to miss her forever.
Yes he has written extensively about them. And in his tales they are always judged and condemned in the end in one way or another. Probably because his own bullies were never punished. Most bullies arent as a matter of fact.
I just read the book and found out that there is a movie about it. But when I searched for it, I couldn´t find someone streaming it. Thanks a lot for sharing this!
A great deal of the fabula has been changed, the intensity of the novella alleviated, but the atmosphere is there. I guess that film and literature speak different languages, that's why. I like the movie and Bryan Singers. But in a way, the main idea dissipates. I understand it is hard to squeeze in everything, but on the other hand, remaining faithful to the main work is of great importance. Thanks for uploading
While I don't mind the movie the book is a lot better, it's more cerebral, a lot more violent and depraved and you get into Todd's head a lot more, he is far more disturbed sadistic and evil in the book to the point you nearly feel sympathy for a Nazi war criminal, the ending in the book is totally different as well, I do wish that Johnathan Brandis had played Todd instead of Renfroe, sadly both young actors died too soon, if they had made this film about 15 years ago I think Caleb Landry Jones could of played Todd brilliantly, after seeing his intense slow burn performance in a film called Nitram based on the true story of Tasmania mass shooter Martin Bryant
The book offers more horror and obviously more psychological insight but it's very unrealistic and tied together with a string of weird and unnecessary coincidences. I think the movie actually solved many flaws that the book has and made the story a lot more convincing. In the book Todd is described to be 13(!) while at the same time acting way too confident, smart and mature for his age. Todd is dominating all the conversations from the start and then randomly starts killing a whole bunch of homeless people without any immediate consequences. I enjoyed both the book and the movie but I think this is a rare case where the screenplay is actually better than the book in many ways.
@@daynawithawhy Yes,I read several Stephen King's novels. In the novel that circumstance too happens differently and takes much longer than in the film.
It's ironic that in this movie, Ian McKellen plays a Nazi (Arthur Denker / Kurt Dussander) and Michael Byrne plays a Jew (Ben Kramer), but in X Men, Ian McKellen plays a Jew (Erik Lehnsherr / Magneto) and in Indiana Jones The Last Crusade, Michael Byrne plays a Nazi (Ernst Vogel).
When a good book has been written, your imagination is triggered and projections become "sensual"(not sexual, not the same thing as some people think), and time expands since the actual reading demands it and you can always "pace" yourself and indulge in a particular scenario(s)...now, according to research, the average attention span of an adult person is about an hour and thirty minutes(it was longer before when "Cinema" barely took off) so, when i watch a Film whether is based on a book or an original screenplay, i always think about what one of my Film production teachers at Chapman College(OC), said to us about Montage: you are compressing time with images...that is another reason why, "Gothic" painting defined "Motion pictures"...perspective as symbolic form, Euclidean space, Semiotics, Archetypes, etc...one single image can carry a whole movie...literature and Film are two different mediums, and the natural "progression" after the written word is an image...film complements "Grammar"...The book, is always going to be "better"...
I wasn't sure at first whether or not the young lad was going to groow attached too the old fella and ends up becoming indoctrinated or something. I mean he is quite a charming old fella 😂.
Ian Mckellen was good but nowhere near as CREEPY as Brad Renfro who has that evil glare in his eyes, he was the same in the movie 🎬 Bully ,good actor,Rest In Peace.
Haven’t read the book yet but this movie even though it’s not a true story but still a good movie to watch and had some funny moments and the part where the german guy had to put on that uniform was really good.
Todd in the novel unlike the movie is a marksman and has a Winchester 30/30. At the ending of the novel he shoots Mr French and goes on a rampage until he's killed by law enforcement.
There is two small errors in the part. The Israeli man said, "You can expect to be in Jerusalem by the end of the summer." Dussander would have been extradited to Germany, not Israel. Yes, Adolf Eichmann was tried in Israel, but he was kidnapped in Argentina and smuggled out of the country. Even if Dussander had been sent to Israel, he would have been tried in Tev Aviv. Still, the thoroughness of the newspaper article, even if it was on the screen for less than a minute, is a great attention to detail.
This film makes me feel ill, S*nger certainly accomplished a horror here. Some comments say the book was more extreme and bloody, but I rather think that it's more unsettling and disturbing for the film to hold back from a freefall into Guignol (risking camp).
In training, as i was good at drill i would get to march the platoon outside the block. anyway, i made them all goosestep once, too my upmost enjoyment. well, my C.O. saw this and i did 2 weeks 6 & 10`s..
Wtf, way to establish a story, on what grounds did the kid go from sitting in class being persuaded by his friend to court some girl to appearing at the old man's door and going heavy on him Thanks but, no thanks
@@JamesRichards-mj9kw, you're probably right. I don't think a nazi war criminal seeking to keep a low profile would choose the US to live, it would be a terrible choice.
