Since carbon fibre is used, there is a resin, basically a form of fibreglass resin is used to bind the carbon fibre. You could go down the path of what chemicals are used, how are they produced etc etc, there are so many different materials to work out the foot print of aptera car would be really very complex........off topic I know....how much energy to produce the resin, what poluutants created etc You know the most efficient form of transport is walking, you cant beat the human body for efficiency, just throw a few veges in and your off, way more efficient than aptera

There was a time in the United States where independent banks created their own currencies rather than so-called fiat currency. These banks regularly crashed and people lost their money. There was a time when currencies were backed by precious metals, thus limiting the money supply. This system too created problems as we learned from the Great depression.

Except the transaction itself still uses about 700-900 kwh (bitcoin). This is why it obviously cant be used for small transactions. Combined with solar gains this is enough power for the first year of Aptera driving (~15000 miles). I do agree its a necessary evil to get more investment but bitcoin is just ludicrously wasteful.

Because Bitcoin is so energetically inefficient, the inherent disadvantage should make it less competitive and higher transaction cost than alternatives so long-term it may go away by being out competed by newer cryptocurrencies.

Actually crypto has a shelf life basically. There can only be so much bitcoin made period so at some point it can no longer be mined for profit. When that happens it's value is purely on that of commodity where it either continues to go up on rarity, or plummets as it lost accessibility.

I'm not a fan of crypto either. The way it was generated, wasted GPUs, etc is all horrible for the world. But I guess if some investors wanted a way to invest with it, it makes sense for them to accept it...? I don't get why those with crypto just didn't convert the "money" themselves into another currency that was accepted. And I too agree that at some point a currency like crypto will exist, but I don't see it happening in my lifetime. Look at any science fiction media and they sometimes have a universal currency that can easily be traded. Star Trek is a major example of this. Obviously being science fiction some may just laugh at the idea, but considering other inventions, technology, etc. do come from being inspired by science fiction, people will continue to try to make a virtual currency a thing.

I'm disappointed in Aptera for accepting cryptocurrency investments. In addition to the enormous energy consumption, especially by Bitcoin, there is the problem of the anonymity associated with cryptocurrencies that makes crypto crimes of various types so attractive and difficult to counter.
@Kukaboora
@Kukaboora 12 дней назад
I do not think that was a satisfactory answer from Chris McCammon. The crypto owners can convert crypto into USD and then invest in Aptera. Aptera needs not to do it. otherwise, Aptera is willing to participate in money washing or laundering.
@Tekaisuwu
@Tekaisuwu 12 дней назад
That’s… twisting it a little lol. When Aptera converts that crypto into USD, it literally gets taxed as income. The benefit is that that tax solely goes to Aptera, rather than the crypto holders. I mean when I hand a friend money in person, is that money washing or laundering just because we didn’t go through a government sanctioned establishment? No? That’s a major benefit to crypto. Peer to peer transactions that don’t have big brother’s hand holding involved.

@@Kukaboora wrong, “annual gift tax exclusion amount is $17,000 per recipient for 2023” so idk what form you’re referring to. Also as I said, crypto is not a currency owned by the government and is only taxed once it is converted into a government sanctioned currency. If it was taxed that would be in so many violations of human rights that we wouldn’t be living under a democracy where we can choose what currency we use.

Bitcoin POW energy use isn't a bug, it's a feature. It's one of the core features, it converts power into money, and th best power is cheap power, and the cheapest power is renewables, so it drives miners towards renewables. There is a ton of nuance, but anyone claiming it's simply all bad per energy, water etc, isn't telling the whole story. The FUD is not unlike that around BEVs in that regard.
@Aspkkr
@Aspkkr 12 дней назад
I know a guy who lost his job in IT using his access to high powered computers and servers to mine bitcoin, he was not interested in saving energy or renewables lol. But to be fair he may be very wealthy at this point.
@ApteraOwnersClub
@ApteraOwnersClub 12 дней назад
that's probably the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard. using more power is a feature? so using AC more is a feature. having poor insulation is a feature. hummer EV being a total energy hog is a feature. so having an energy efficient car is a terrible thing because it drives people away from renewables? lol. i don't even know what to say. So if bitcoin used 100000X more power than it does now, it would be even better?
@D0li0
@D0li0 12 дней назад
@@ApteraOwnersClub no, you completely misunderstood. Power is the universally accessable resources that levels the field for mining BTC. POS on the other hand rewards the early entrenched stake holders. There is a lot of game theory involved and anti adversarial checks. No single entity has the power resources to take over BTC hashing, it's literally the base layer of the security of this specific BlockChain. Others like AlgoRand have really neat proof methods. But if you can't seriously discuss such things, and equate it to a hummer BEV, then I'm not sure your ready nor willing to understand. Just keep letting other people do your thinking, don't learn how anything actually works...

Honestly I don't think there's a future for crypo because its value is too chaotic. If crypto would ever be approved it would only become relevant based on the value of the USD. The main reason people have been buying crypto is to circumvent taxes but the government is catching up on it. Proof of stake is also basically a ponzy scheme. The value of crypto is checked based on how much you currently hold onto and get paid for your service to the ledger. So basically spend money so your money makes more money.
