Opthamologist: Did you ever look into a really bright light, like the sun? Thomas: Definitely not an Aputure 600x at 4 inches. Why? Opthamologist: You have cataracts. Thomas: NOT an Aputure… I have what?
Little tip for assembling Aputure softboxes : put one arm inside the bowen mount hole to hold one side of the velcro and your other arm outside to attach. Works perfectly and it's easy to assemble !
I'l do you one better, attach the velcros when the softbox is folded and never detach them ever again! Also don't grab each individual rod to clip them, just clip one and then put the softbox facedown on flat ground and push down on the bowens mounts in a rotating manner, setup will take less than 10 seconds!
@@billyboy1er Yeah I've tried that, but I feel like it may be damaging the rods to push them all in place at the same time. But it's just a feeling, might be alright !
I was so excited when I finally got to bring a 600D to a commercial project last month. Didn't end up using it once because we couldn't get it dim enough! But man, I love these lights.
Really nice option to be able to change lighting set ups to match nearly any environments quickly, so I've always loved the bi color options myself. I like both of your shots compared at 6:26 - 6:28 side by side. I love the warmth of the counter top on the 4000K, and on the wood panel back splash, I feel it adds to the area. I also feel like there is more there. To me the faucet has more variation of colors to it under the 4000K lighting, than "just a silver" faucet loop. The flowerpot also has so much more character, life and richness to it under the 4000K lighting. But I do love the greenery of the flowers in the 5600K. Can't really go wrong with this light if it isn't too large for the working space. Nice comparison of the Light Dome 150 at 8:41 - 8:48. I do prefer that wrap around, but that size. Sheesh !!!
Good review, but please note that gels do not necessarily halve the light output. A common, full CTO will indeed cut the light output by one stop (halve the light). But gels can vary from 1/3 stop for a 1/4 CTO, up to 5 stops or more for dark, party gels. There may be other reasons for going with a bi-color light, like convenience. But as you've mentioned, bi-color lights have less raw output than daylight lights. The 600X at 2700K is only 57% of the intensity at 5600K, roughly half the output. The 600D has 52% more output than the 600X at 5600K. Thanks for listening, and keep up the good work!
LED is definitely getting closer to being a standard. They sure are making good lights with each new one. Also just wanted to let you know I subscribed anyway… so yeah this is awkward
Light and versatile always wins for me . Weight and logistics is key when trying to get that shot . The lighter and more versatile your gear , the more options one has and the quicker . Great review . CANNOT AFFORD IT YET but ...THUMBS UP!
Lantern might actually be the best of the 3 which is pretty cool since its the cheapest and versatile. Great video as always! One of the best channels on here
Takes light to the face! -- Me: He is crazy!!!! is he still able to see after that? and you almost had me.... I thought I was going to see some throwing off the roof action! but nope!
I would love this light but I think I would need the Sekonic C-800 at the same time so I could discover what temperature to set it at. And also I have already run into situations where I could have used that 600d version to help improve my daylight shoots. "Desire is the root of all suffering."
What are the use cases where you would use a 300x? Wondering if I should get another 300x or get a 300d for more output. I also have a couple 60x lights that work well to film things like weddings, lighting up a dance floor for speeches, etc. The versatility is nice on the x series though. 600x would be overkill for me. I’m not trying to light big sets Nd I do very minimal work outside. Most often I’m doing product commercials, interviews and short documentaries. Thanks
Man for only $100 more seems like a no brainer. Do you know if there is the 600X is less powerful than the 600d because of the adjustable color temp? Also, totally feel you on the fabric not fitting. Just had to send my apurture lantern back to B&H because I couldn't even close it! Hopefully the next one at least fits.
"They give us stuff, not because we say good things, but because we really really like them"..... Are you sure? Because I really really like them too, but they don't give me anything. Also, they may not technically give you any money, but a free light counts for something, right? I don't think you are that naive. We're not.
Glad to see the channel declining, I never enjoyed the reviews, they're incredibly dry and boring. You didn't even throw this one off the roof! Just shilling for products I want to buy now.
I always find it funny how these cinematography channels say "we're not getting paid for this" when you just said "they gave us $2000 in products." 🤣 Love you guys but COME ON: You got paid in gear and continue to get paid in gear by Aputure. You wouldn't do these videos just to be nice ... you do them cuz you want their stuff. And that's fine. Me, I prefer to spend my money than show my face simping for a brand. Just seems like something teenagers do and as an adult ... that phase is long gone. 😂
I need to unsubscribe from this channel, the useful information and funny way you present all of it makes me wanna try those products and i have no money to spend on awesome equipment… please do not post anymore 😂👍🏻
Nanlite Forza 500 is more brighter than this Aputure and way more cheap... Aputure, you need to check this... Not buying an Aputure thing anymore, you are paying for the brand...
Forza 500 has inferior build quality though. You get what you pay for in this case and lighting equipment is nothing to skimp on. Buy nice, never buy twice
Promise: I'll un-sub from you IF you regurgitate some of your lighting knowledge directed at reactors on YT. I'll even take back my likes if you really want.
Epic Light Media is a channel that doesn't lie, they are a media that makes videos about epic lights. Love your channel seriously the content is so good. PS : I tried to unsubscribe several times, but every time, RU-vid wants me to meet your channel again. Sorry, you really should delete your channel.
