I have recently purchased 2@ Godox 75r and 1@ 150r. I wanted to hear some reviews comparing between Godox, Arri, and Aputure. I really loved your approach. -Into of both lights -the nutshell specs and performance of each -and end result finding. -Then if you want how these conclusions came to be. Continue watching. I really appreciated. I wanted fast answers then if I was intrigued, I could continue. I have subscribed to hire channel simply Because of that. Keep it up!

Hey hey Oles! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! I wish I had something more scientific in regards to a spectrometer. All I can say is based on my color checker test and knowing how Panasonic likes to determine the skin tone chips on tungsten and daylight. It would seem that the skin tones are about where they should be for pro-sumer digital cameras. Though I would say in this case the Nova P300 does better "tuned" when moving through the kelvins. Mainly because in my Godox firmware it did that weird thing where it would adjust the G/M Shift depending on what brightness its set at. Thanks again for stopping by! Hey hey LEXPIX! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! Glad you enjoyed this video! I hear ya, I unfortunately couldn't get ahold of an Arri Skypanel S30? At the same time, however I think there are plenty of Aputure vs Arri videos since the release of the Aputure and I believe most reviewers said they were similar enough, just at different price points. I'm gonna wait and see if there are more large panel options that come in for review, from there I will try and rent an Arri to do a massive comparison across the board. Thanks again for stopping by! Good review, thx. Isnt the Aputure already alot softer out of the box? I.e. it needs less diffusion to soften it to the same extent?
@TLDR_filmmaker
@TLDR_filmmaker 2 года назад
Hey hey again Phil! Correct that the Aputure is softer out of the box and needs less diffusion... but man I am a sucker for softer light so TO THE DOUBLE DIFFUSION WE GO! Haha! Jokes aside, the Aputure definitely has more utility with its softness out of the box, less work if you wanna just setup and shoot something quick for an interview and move on.
@Trevellian
@Trevellian 2 года назад
Another good review. When would you use a panel rather than a more traditional bowens mount COB LED? Space constraints? But if attaching a large soft box, both fixtures would be dwarfed by the size of the softbox. The colors of the P300C will allow better correction, true. But third party modifiers are far less available and carry a high price premium. Guess I'm not sold on panels.
@TLDR_filmmaker
@TLDR_filmmaker 2 года назад
Hey hey again Michael! For me, always looking at budget and how I film, the Aputure Nova is a bit overkill and like you said a lot of stuff I could just keep use COB LED's to get the same looks. The Nova was definitely built for studios and grip trucks in the industry who are looking to not pay Arri prices for the skypanel. One things I have seen a lot with press television interviews that are quick setups is that they will have a arch setup of skypanels with some flags for the interviewer and interviewee. Definitely a reporter 60minutes type setup, for them the panels seem to make the most sense for space and look. Otherwise I'd have to agree with you that I'm not entirely sold on Panels for my needs, a COB Reflector combo, and any other bowens modifiers, would be more useful for my needs.
@Trevellian
@Trevellian 2 года назад
@@TLDR_filmmaker That makes sense. If portability and size is the need, the cost could be worth it. Especially if the softness of the lights without a softbox is good enough. Recently picked up their 300x COB, which I hope will serve me well for a few years.

Hey mate, just wanted to recommend you pick a side (left/right) when you're doing all these comparisons, cause you swap back and forth and while YES everything is labeled, it's a little confusing when you swap which on is on the left/right. Just pick one side and stick with it - it'll be a little more clear for your viewers. Keep up the great work!

@TLDR_filmmaker
@TLDR_filmmaker 2 года назад
Hey hey theothertoday! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! You're most welcome! If you are talking about the Neewer 960 RGB panel, I had an early review unit and it does not come anywhere close to these panels in terms of output power. You can see all the numbers at tldrfilmmaker.com The Neewer 960 divided the LED's into three groups so you got the overall power cut into 3 LED groups. The neewer 1904 that bi-color only may produce some good numbers because they are lensed like the Godox. However my best guess is that it will come to about half the power of the Godox as the power requirement is only 75watts (possibly per channel) where as the Godox is nearing 150w. Hope this helps! At 8% the green led bulbs kick in to make up for the output, so the higher you go, the greener it might be getting, which is why the magenta correction is heavier on higher output. It completely changes tint going 7 to 8%.

It amazes me that the aperture (bare led) has a softer look despite being a smaller panel. The shadow on the wall is a deeper, of course. The godox is wider and able to obscure the shadow on the wall by wrapping the light around your head. Despite the advantage of size, the godox still looks more harsh on the skin. As much as i wanted the cheaper godox to win; Aperture has made the more practical product when space, weight, versatility and function are considered. Price per lumen godox wins the game. However there is something to be said about “quality” of light. I will keep saving up, because i would rather not use a softbox, if possible, to save on space.
@TLDR_filmmaker
@TLDR_filmmaker 2 года назад
Hey hey again Will! This comparison was definitely quite interesting for me too, I didn't think there would be a major drastic difference until you had them side by side. Part of me wants to modify my Godox and remove the lenses and add my own diffusion plastic cover somehow. I have a feeling that would kill the entire output of the LED, maybe? But it could a modification worth while for the price point. We'll see if I get gutsy enough to break that thing out lol. Otherwise I myself would like to have an All Aputure setup, their Ecosystem can't be beat currently.
@WillCarterTech
@WillCarterTech 2 года назад
@@TLDR_filmmaker well that would make for a very interesting vlog! I and many other people would love to watch you dismantle a $1000 fixture 😵 if it works it would definitely change the game for godox. Before you go that deep, possibly damaging the godox. Tape a white diffusion gel to the front. It wouldnt take up as much space as the softbox and it might soften the light enough to give the cheaper godox and win in this specific use case.

What will light a,room better when reflecting off a ceiling ? The spotty light or more spread
@TLDR_filmmaker
@TLDR_filmmaker 2 года назад
Hey hey again ALi! For me, personally, I would still go with the Aputure so that the fall off from the bounce is going to be even more smooth. But thats for the type of light I like for the scenes I shoot. But this also depends on just how far away the reflecting wall or ceiling is. If you are inside a standard 8-10 feet ceiling or the wall is close to your subjects. You'll want the aputure for the softest look. If the wall or ceiling is further away, then the Godox maybe have the advantage to get the light to reach the subject after the bounce, by then the light will have scattered a decent amount so it should still render a pretty soft light. Those are just my thoughts on how I would approach the differences between the two. Times like this I wish I had a large studio space so I can perform more of these types of test. Hope this helps!

At the 9:00 mark which color represents the true color of your wall
@TLDR_filmmaker
@TLDR_filmmaker 2 года назад
Hey hey again Hoodaffairstv! The Godox technically represents the true color of the wall however it is not that saturated in real life as you see in the video, its much more subtle. My guess is this is most likely attributed to the larger red color spike in daylight mode. The Aputure LED's backs off on the red spike seemingly killing off the color of the wall, however my skin tones is more correct in terms of saturation to what you see in real life.

@TLDR_filmmaker
@TLDR_filmmaker 2 года назад
Hey hey Milan! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! Definitely more for creators that are constantly on the job. For the budget you have there are some great COB LED's options that you can work with to get similar looks as these with some modifications, you just might not have the RGB options if thats something you need or power if you are fighting against brighter sources. But for the most part a 60w to 120w (150w) class COB LED's suffice for a lot of work in decently controlled lighting environments. Outside, I like to use reflectors and call it a day. How can you compare the Aputure Nova with a low budget panel like the Godox LD150R? It seems very stupid ! It's like comparing a Ferrari to a utility car!
@TLDR_filmmaker
@TLDR_filmmaker 11 месяцев назад
You're not wrong if I was comparing speed and acceleration between a Ferrari and a utility car, but I am comparing if those cars can get from point A to B. I am looking to see what LED diodes were used between the two lights. If they were nearly the same LED diodes, then people can determine if the extra software features and exterior designs materials (Speed and Acceleration) are worth it to them.
