Aerial Major Carbon 2-Piece Versa-Lok Crank Shaft Kayak Paddle
Go bigger, harder, and further with the most revolutionary paddle in whitewater. Experience comfortable control with an ergonomic crank shaft and unmatched durability with Lam-Lok™ US Patent Pending technology to keep your Aerial Major Carbon performing at maximum power-for the long-haul. Quickly adapt to paddling conditions with 5 cm of adjustable length and infinite offset angles.
ABOUT LAM-LOK™ US Patent Pending
Double down on edge protection with innovative Lam-Lok™ US Patent Pending technology
Lam-Lok™ mechanically bonds the laminated blade layers together with over 33 feet of an aramid thread around the most vulnerable parts of the blades, dramatically extending the life of your paddle
Protects blade edges by resisting delamination, impact and abrasion
Lam-Lok™ is 5-10x more effective at fighting delamination than blades without it
ABOUT THE BLADES
Aerial Major blade size best suited for paddlers who are larger-statured, in excellent paddling shape or require extra surface area to enact extremely responsive, aggressive maneuvers
Wide, flattened foam spine simulates performance qualities of both a foil blade and a compression-molded blade
Reinforced 100% carbon blade peg insert maximizes blade-to-shaft joint strength while matching the stiffness/flex balance of the entire paddle. Benefit from built-in durability Smooth transition from blade to shaft. No sharp edges to scrape hands or extra material to add friction in the water
ABOUT THE SHAFT
Crank shaft designed for maximum efficiency, control and comfort (with bends in all the right places)
100% carbon construction optimized for a stiffness/flex balance between that of traditional carbon and fiberglass shafts to ease strain on shoulders
High-tech, spread tow carbon weave increases the mechanical properties of the material (strength, stiffness, impact resistance) while reducing weight
Ergonomic grip shape designed to match the natural shape of a closed hand
Extra-long grip sections allow flexibility for hand placement to fit a greater number of shoulder widths and paddler preferences
Tactile grip coating applied to shaft to help get a better hold-and it won’t destroy paddler calluses, to boot
Designed for hand placement in line with blades Two-piece breakdown with Versa-Lok™ ferrule
ABOUT THE VERSA-LOK™ FERRULE
Versa-Lok™ allows 5 cm of adjustable length and infinite offset angles. Adjust on the fly to confidently navigate tight passages or run long stretches with your ideal paddle fit
Beefed up Versa-Lok™ to meet the rigors of whitewater paddling. Custom blended nylon ferrule material with very high fiberglass content for strength
Secure, tight locked connection that grips onto the 100% carbon ferrule insert
Ferrule insert extends extra far into the shaft, matching the stiffness/flex balance of the entire paddle
Engineered to feel like paddling a one-piece with the versatility of a two-piece.

I paddled one of these today and really liked it, just ordered a 197-202 straight carbon. Really loved the shaft shape and how the blades glided through the water. It also felt way easier on my shoulders than my nitro, and stern squirts were way easier to engage. Hoping those carbon blades hold up like yours!

They did really good job on these paddles

There is supposed to be a touring paddle (Tango) available with the lam-lok technology too, haven’t seen it for sale yet though.

Yes I looked at one yesterday actually and just wow it’s extremely well made i did not use it but did a good walk through with their team on one and it’s really well done

Paddled the 194cm straight shaft, major, fiber glass on class 3. 1. I love the grip. On the Shred, the grip felt slippery. This grip is awesome. 2. This paddle is super heavy compared to Werner and Select. 3. Can't comment on durability after only one trip.
@WadeHarrison

yes these are a bit heavier, and the durability is really good on these

It’s great to see that Aquabound is upping their game. It would be interesting to see the Aerial compared to the Lettmann paddle.

I fully agree! I so appreciate Wade’s ability to trudge through the weeds and get to the primary points of comparison on things in his reviews. I am likely to upgrade to a full carbon fiber paddle this year. I would really like to know the differences before I “take the plunge’ on an expensive paddle. Maybe a review of Full Carbon Fiber paddles of more than just two brands? Maybe Werner/Lettmann/Aquabound/and the other paddles he uses? I would SO be on board to hear Wade’s thoughts on this type of review.

FWIW I spoke with a brands rep who represents/sells/promotes different brands to shop owners. He was on the river and I saw one of these paddles last October. He specifically mentioned the Aramid Fiber sewn into the leading edge of the paddles. He specifically mentioned the fibers being done this way to help prevent long term wear. It is a genius level addition to the paddles! I hope they have it patented, and other companies pay them to use the idea also.

Yeah good to see these out there I’m starting to see more and more and I might do a comparison between this and lettman but really lettman in a class of its own shape and design of lettman is very different from this these are like the everything paddles

Yeah I light go through some and give the thoughts on each I have some video ideas and will be doing something like this

I have had mine for a month now and purchased the two peace for a trip to Costa Rica. The two part system is solid, but i did have it slide in on hard rock hits. It was lower water so I hit a lot of rocks with the blade and it has held up great. The shafts coating is a little much IMO. Also got to see the factory (only 40 mins from me) and they make them in house with some very cool machines.

Should I get a major or minor? 155 lbs , 5’-9” in a zet 5. Mostly Just class 1-2 in Michigan w plenty of slower rivers, but will be making occasional trips south for 3-4.

Looking at fiberglass paddle (pelican symbiosa) Altho they say wont be hot/cold to the touch as an aluminum shaft. Would carbon/fiber glass expand during temp change? And durability wise last longer than an aluminum shaft? Carbon is stiffer than fiber glass. But fiberglass stiffer then aluminum?
@WadeHarrison
@WadeHarrison 24 дня назад
In the hot summer carbon has almost zero change I would never use aluminum paddle

Have you experienced any issues with Kajak sport plastics ferrule with any other brand?
@WadeHarrison

Yes I have Gpower paddle and it has it and have used a few select paddles and they use that also and have been impressed how well they hold up
@TreLongboard

Apologies if this has been asked before... what's that stuff you have on the blade edge of the Sherpa?
@WadeHarrison
@WadeHarrison 6 месяцев назад
It’s a type of trim lock that goes on doors mostly but some put it in paddles to stop the wear especially the fiberglass Werner’s they start wearing when you pull them out the plastic.
@broberts1505

My only thought after picking one up was - its heavy.
@WadeHarrison
@WadeHarrison 6 месяцев назад
I will cover that more in a full breakdown of the paddle but one thing on the weight after using it for awhile it’s in the shaft so the actual swing weight is pretty good the blades are thin and light so you kinda don’t notice it on water. And like with the older AT superduty paddles I’m willing to sacrifice a little weight for longevity and durability in a creek/splat play all round paddle.
@gordmccoll5009
@gordmccoll5009 6 месяцев назад
Do you find the blade narrows on the front of the blade taking away some power?
@WadeHarrison
@WadeHarrison 6 месяцев назад
Yes I do and that’s why I put this in with a great all round paddle for full slice and down river play and lower volume creeking. That narrow area helps with cartwheels and releases out the water faster with no resistance on splats ect. If I’m needing down river power or race I’m lettman or Gpower all the way but don’t like those for down river rock play if that makes sense and Arca Works is a great options for all those if don’t mind blade forward style

I have bought a Major, 5 days ago I swam and lost it in a calss 4+ river, 36 hours after I found it stucked in pieces of rock, miles far from the place lossing it (with using my drone searching) . and its still in a good condition and perfectly for continuing use. I would say its a good one from Aqua Bound.

@@WadeHarrison Hi Wade,I have already sold my aqua bound major, now im planning to buy a new paddle, thinking of G power Twister X-Creek or lettmann Ergonom Pro Extrem (because of your videos). Do you have any recommandation, or which one you prefer after using them? I have no chance to try both of them in my country, your opinion will help.
