I was at 11 Mile Reservoir in Lake George, Colorado. I ran into my friend, Rich Clark!!! I didn’t recognize him at first. He was watching me climb up the cliff and casting my line off the cliff. After he had caught several fish, he called my name. I came over to visit with him.
As we were talking my pole went off. I ran to reel the fish to shore. We were having a good ole time. We even had a double. We were laughing and kidding each other like little kids. Then it happened, I had a fish stuck in the rocks for some reason. I didn’t have any waders, so naturally I rolled up my pant legs and went in the water to free it!!! The water was super cold!!! Keep in mind that I woke up to frost in the morning!!!
Rich was razzing me!!! My pants were wet to my knees!!! My feet were starting to freeze!!! Yes, I was one who you would call “crazy!” My bell rang!!! When I lifted my rod, I heard the reel screaming!!! I knew at that moment that I had a beast at the end of the line.
It was an amazing fight!!! For some reason, I was getting nervous!!! He was in control for a little while there. Then finally I brought him to shore. This fish was magnificent!!! It was definitely an “AWE” sensation!!! Sometimes, you just stand there an just witness what God has created. This was a fish that just made time stood still!!!
Since my pants were already wet, I took the brilliant fish in deeper water to release it. I wasn’t cold anymore. Perhaps, I was caught in the moment. Everything just felt warm. I definitely felt blessed.
