when I was buying an inflatable kayak I really liked the look of the Aqua Marina Steam 412 but couldn't find any information other than marketing videos so hopefully this might help anyone in the decision making process. it's my first ever video.. ever so hopefully it's an honest no frills opinion that may help, if anyone wants specific info on this model, let me know and I'll make a video for you. many thanks hope you enjoy it. Steve xx

Thanks for the review. Own one for a few monthes now and I am very satisfied. I chose it for the quality and the thin lines. On the lake, it is reasonably fast for an inflatable, faster than my brother in law's. No noticeable loss of air although it stays under pressure for several weeks now. The whole family enjoys it.

Thanks for your video - really helpful. I recently bought a 1 person version and have been having issues inflating it. The 3 valves and pump that comes with it seem to leak air when getting close to the recommended psi. This makes it frustrating and difficult to hit the psi on the mark. Just wondered if you had the same experience?

Cheers for the informative video! Hopefully you will see my comment and have a chance to respond to some of my doubts. I would like to use this for calm ocean kayaking as well as some light camping for two people. I'm concerned by the low pressure inflation recommendations. Drop stitch floors are typically 5 PSI as a bare minimum with 8, 10 or even 15 being more common. And the tube pressure is typically 2 PSI as a minimum. Does it seem like it could take being slightly overinflated? Likewise, the 180 kg limit for a kayak of such dimensions seems low. I've read that on other similar boats others have easily gone over the load limit without loss of stability. Do you feel that this would be the case with the steam as well? Have you tried heavy packing it?

Sorry for the late reply. I thought the same, the psi requirement is quite low compared to others. It states never to over inflate above the stated pressure so I followed those instructions and it was solid. I never felt like it needed more. After leaving overnight the pressure had dripped a little and I topped it up but only to the stated max. I had packed it quite full, a large fresh water container full, right at the front, packs, gear, even fire wood, all at the same time. It felt heavy but tracked perfect. The weather was bad and it filled with water due to waves over the bow (bad place to stash the fresh water container because it was really heavy) even then it felt capable. There was a sense of a slight drop in rigidity but not serious enough to cause any concern, also I knew after 2 hours i would reach my destination and offload the weight I would say that it was unlikely I reached the 180kg limit, even with the water that came on from the waves so if you think your combined total weight for passengers and gear will top about 160kg then I would be looking for a firmer or bigger craft or even 1 each. It would certainly take 2 adults and 2 gear packs without any issue but I wouldn't like to take it to the max in terms of load. This is why I got the 2 seater for solo use and I can take more equipment

@@jasitweb Cheers for the detailed and very informative response. I ended up getting a deal on a different one with higher pressure but lacking auto drain valves. So far I've been on the sea twice, one day tandem and the next solo. There was some ambiguity as to the correct PSI for the kayak so I erred on the side of caution. The tandem day was the first outing so it was also the most cautious when inflating. The kayak was great, stable and tracked worlds better than my previous cheap low pressure kayak. But I had the feeling it was held back a bit by my caution. The second time I went solo and increased the pressure, though still not to the maximum. It was fast! Easy stroking just zipped me along and turns were immediate. On the way back, the current increased and changed direction to oppose me. Also, a fairly strong head wind that was not forecasted made the sea quite choppy. The waves brought water into the kayak, but i didn't notice it under the dropstitch floor and wasn't put off by the lack of self-bailing valves. It was hard work getting back and I'm not sure how I would have accomplished it in my old low pressure kayak.
